Just a few examples of this strange phenomenon

Ever wonder why people tend to remember things differently at times, even though you strongly believe you are right and you have heard others say you are right but a few others claim you are terribly wrong. This can be explained by a world wide phenomenon which is now called The Mandela Effect. What exactly is this; The Mandela Affect is a strange phenomenon were a large group of individuals distinctly and strongly remember something however the events or memory is completely wrong and false. In simpler terms it is a largely believed lie in a sense. Now I am not saying that what these people believe is an outright lie or falsehood, just there memories of the event or occurrence is different than what actually took place and it a false memory a large group remember at the same time. The first part of my essay will explain how the phenomenon got its name and how the effect came to be known in the world. The last two sections I will present two pop culture references that have been greatly influenced or affected by this Mandela Effect.

The Mandela Effect came to the light of the world and the scientific community in 2013 around the time of the great Nelson Mandela's passing. Yes for those who still don't know or believe it Nelson Mandela passed away in 2013. Before his passing it was believed by many around the world that Nelson Mandela had died while in prison back in the 1980's. This belief believed by so many intrigued the scientific community to investigate. What they discovered that not only had this occurrence happened, a false truth believed by many, but many other occurrence of miss-remembered memories or events were found. If you want to see more than my follow two examples you can simply type in The Mandela Effect on google and find more than 40 miss-remembered events or beliefs that were held by many but were false. However the phenomenon was not known to exist till Mandela's passing and that is why it is now called The Mandela Effect.

Now here is one of the first two references to the Effect at work in pop culture. "Hello Clarice" must be one of the most creepiest lines most of us recall or seem to recall from Silence Of Lambs. However, the truth is, and I just re-watched the movie for proof and was flabbergasted, this line was never in the movie. Now let me start by saying this movie still to this days creeps me out and gives me chills and from a movie made in 1991 that is saying something. However, I think that so many remember such a scary line from a creepy movie is more terrifying than the actual movie. First off Dr. Hannibal Lecter does say her name often in the movie and that alone is always done in an ominous and creepy manner. But, the famous line that most of remember as: "Hello Clarice" is made at the beginning when Mrs. Sterling first meets Dr. Lecter. Truth is all the says on there first encounter is: "Good morning". This line is delivered calmly and way less creepier. Only twice in the movie does Hannibal use a greeting term and Clarice's name together and even these two occurrence don't feel as terrifying as the ominous: "Hello Clarice!" Once Hannibal is moved to the new, in my mind, fancier prison and is visiting by Clarice he greets her with: "Good evening Clarice." Now he often says her name creepily but his good evening is calm and none threatening. Secondly when she is being escorted out of that "jail" like room he bids her farewell with: "Goodbye Clarice" now this line is more chilling than his greeting but still does not strike the same fear in me I use to have in the false line before it was debunked for me and now you! So just remember the next time you want to creep out someone with: "Hello Clarice!" you are using a made up line that never truly existed.

My next reference is from most of our childhood so if you think this may ruin your childhood I am sorry. We all know and remember the beloved ET our favorite alien and the most friendly I have seen in any movie, than again being a horror fan we can imagine why. However, The Mandela Effect has once again struck this movie with a simple line. Now the line does exist however the phenomenon affects how we remember it. Everyone still uses this line, I recalled it this way and used it like everyone else till I recently re-watched this movie and was surprised that I had again been holding onto a shared false belief. We all recall and use the line: "E.T. phone home." Now as mentioned just above the line does exist we are just all miss recalling how the line is actually said. E.T. is dressed as a girl thanks to Elliot's sister and is stumbling around the room pointing to objects and talking for the first time ever. First he points to a phone and does say phone. After that he runs to one to one of the wall and says Home and Elliot confirms that yes ET's home is out in space. Than E.T. goes to the windows and does the famous finger point. Up till now those memories or all accurate and true. And you are probably all reading this going yeah and now comes :"E.T. phone home..." That is were you are wrong my friends. While pointing the line he says is: "E.T. Home phone." That's right everyone the words are Home Phone not Phone Home. Shocking right and there you have it The Mandela Effect strikes again and may have just ruined someone's childhood, sorry if it has.

And there it is everyone a strange still unexplained scientific phenomenon that affects the entire world and large groups of people at the same time. Is this proof as some conspiracy theorists say proof of alternate universes or is it the world's cruel joke to make us look and feel like shared lie believers, you be the judge.
