October 9 was declared World Post Day in 1969 at the World Postal Congress in Japan and is celebrated annually to raise awareness of the role of postal assistance in everyday life. Countries around the world have taken part in celebrating this day to highlight the importance of the post. People celebrate this day by thanking their sender, calling posters, and using the hashtag # WorldPostDay.

October 9 World Postal Day Every year on October 9th World Post Day is celebrated to commemorate the World Postal Union (UPU) in Switzerland which began in 1874. Since 1969, countries around the world have been celebrating to highlight the importance of postal services. On 9 October 1874 the United Postal Union in Bern, Switzerland was established and on 9 October 1969, it was declared World Post Day at the UPU Congress in Tokyo, Japan.

This year, during the epidemic, postal workers have become heroes of COVID-19, working around the clock to ensure the distribution of essential items such as medicines, test kits, and money.

The India Post is launching National Post Week celebrations from 9 October to 15 October 2020 to raise awareness of the role of the postal sector in the daily lives of people and businesses and its contribution to the social and economic development of the country.

Every year 192 UPU member states celebrate World Post Day on 9 October to celebrate the importance of global mail and its contribution to society and the global economy. The postal service in many countries uses the event to introduce and promote new postal products and services. Member States are organizing special stamp exhibitions and launching new postal programs, while India is organizing a weekly celebration every year on the week of 9 October.

Postal organizations use the day to promote new services and to raise awareness of the postal system. World Post Day is celebrated in more than 15 countries with programs and activities. Nations are promoting new postal products and services by celebrating the day.

Countries around the world will be attending the event to highlight the importance of postal services. The participating countries will put up holiday posters in public places. Post Offices across the country will host special collections of stamps and exhibitions on the opening day of postage steps and workshops on post history.

As a result of the UPU's international letter-writing competition, member states are encouraged to organize their activities nationally to celebrate 9 October, including the launch and promotion of new postal products and services and the opening of postal opening days, post offices, and museums. India holds a weekly celebration every year on the week of October 9. These celebrations involve the participation of member states in the planning of activities and activities to raise awareness of the important role of position at the national level.
