America is home to numerous haunted locations with eerie histories and ghostly legends. Civil War battlefields old hotels, asslyms and penetentiaries are often said to be inhabitited by the uninvited. You may have heard of or event visitited some of the most famous paranormal sites but are you knowledgable about al 10 of the popular haunted places across the country listed here? read the details, learn something new or reaquaint yourself. 1. Eastern State Penitentiary, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania: Once one of the most famous and expensive prisons in the world, Eastern State Penitentiary now stands in ruins. Visitors and staff have reported strange apparitions, shadowy figures, and inexplicable sounds which suggest that the State Pennetentiary is inhabited by the unseen.

2.The Stanley Hotel, Estes Park, Colorado: This hotel inspired Stephen King's novel "The Shining" and th emovie of the same name starring Jack Nicholson. It is said to be haunted by several spirits, including the original owner, F.O. Stanley, and a ghostly chambermaid named Elizabeth Wilson.

3. The Myrtles Plantation, St. Francisville, Louisiana: Often called one of the most haunted homes in America, this antebellum plantation is believed like other similar locations to be inhabited by several spirits, including the ghost of a former slave girl.

The Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum, Weston, West Virginia: This massive former psychiatric hospital is known for its tragic history, and many believe it is haunted by the spirits of former patients. it has often been said that psychiatric patients were not trated well in past decades which is why their spirits linger.

7. Gettysburg Battlefield, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania: The site of one of the bloodiest battles of the American Civil War, Gettysburg is believed to be haunted by the souls of fallen soldiers. there are so many tales about Gettysburg of ghosts and often Civil War battles being reinacted.

8. The Crescent Hotel, Eureka Springs, Arkansas: This historic hotel is said to be haunted by several ghosts, including a former cancer patient and a Victorian woman. Do you have the guts to spend a night in a room at the Crescent?
