There might be big news ahead for everyone's favorite Rebel spy. In a video posted to the official Star Wars website, Kristin Baver announced that a panel at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim on Thursday, May 26th would highlight upcoming film projects, including the live-action series Andor. The panel could include a teaser trailer for the show. A more recent news post states the panel will focus on "Lucasfilm's current crop of live-action filmmakers" and will include special guests, like Katee Sackhoff, Carl Weathers, and Emily Swallow. If true, reaction to the teaser will likely be overwhelmingly positive as Rogue One remains one of the most popular Star Wars spinoffs since it first came out over five years ago.

First announced in 2018, Andor is a prequel series focusing on Diego Luna's titular character Cassian Andor five years before the events portrayed in the film Rogue One. The story is set early in the Rebellion and has been teased as a modern take on classic spy thrillers, in a time before the Rebel Alliance rose up to challenge the Galactic Empire. This timeline puts the show's start concurrent with the beginning of Star Wars Rebels, which also focused on early Rebellion characters and eventually tied into Rogue One. Forest Whitaker and Genevieve O'Reilly are set to reprise their roles in the series as Saw Gerrera and Mon Mothma, respectively.

Other cast announcements have included names like Stellan Skarsgård (Dune), Fiona Shaw (Killing Eve), and Adria Arjona (Morbius). Arjona recently spoke to Screen Rant about her excitement in joining the Star Wars universe. In addition to discussing how hard it is to keep secrets about her involvement in Andor, which includes not being able to get a tattoo featuring her character's name, Arjona confirmed that she would be attending Star Wars Celebration Anaheim.

With Star Wars touting the May 26th panel as one "that will be long remembered" and an Andor-specific panel to follow later in the convention, a lot of fans are beginning to connect the dots. Arjona may not be attending as a special guest (she hasn't been officially confirmed by Lucasfilm), but these panels tend to call on actors and creators to discuss their experiences making the show. If Arjona is there as a special guest, it not only indicates that Lucasfilm could be anticipating a lot of buzz, but also that her role in the story is significant.

There has not been a teaser trailer released for Andor as of yet. While there is also no release date, anticipation is high for at least some footage of the fan-favorite series. Bespin Bulletin suggests the stage is set for a proper teaser, though whether it will be made public or only shown to Celebration attendees is up in the air. However, with two panels lined up to discuss Andor, we should expect a deluge of more information in the coming weeks.

Star Wars Celebration has been the perfect time to release trailers and reveal more information about upcoming projects in the past. The first Star Wars Celebration in 1999 was managed entirely by Star Wars fans in anticipation of the release of The Phantom Menace, and it included actor panels. The last such event, Star Wars Celebration Chicago in 2019, saw the release of trailers for The Rise of Skywalker, The Mandalorian, season seven of The Clone Wars, and Jedi: Fallen Order. Besides Andor, this year's Star Wars Celebration Anaheim is expected to deliver news about The Bad Batch Season 2, the sequel to Jedi: Fallen Order video game, The Mandalorian Season 3, and High Republic projects such as The Acolyte. It is also likely that we will learn about other upcoming, as yet unannounced releases.

Star Wars Celebration Anaheim will take place from Thursday, May 26th to Sunday, May 29th, 2022 in Anaheim, California.
