Captain Cassian Andor is back! We first learned of Cassian in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story where he is a spy for the Rebel Alliance involved in stealing the Death Star plans. He is now getting his own Disney+ series Star Wars: Andor. The series was first announced by Disney in 2018. Now even before the series begins, there is word that Andor will be getting a second season. This is exciting news for the Star Wars fan base. If you remember, fans were thrilled about Rogue One and thought the movie was the best movie ever.

It appears filming for the second season will begin in the Autumn of 2022 as actor Stellan Skarsgard commented:

“And then in the Autumn, it’s time for the second season of the Star Wars series Andor… I do not know when they will start broadcasting it. It will take some time, so that it does not take too long between Season One and Season Two.”

The first season of Andor is set to air in Autumn 2022. Production on its twelve episodes has taken a while to complete. There has been a rumor that the series will run for at least three seasons. The plan, for now, is that we will see the release of Andor’s first season (with all twelve episodes) in the fourth quarter of 2022, and transition right into season three of The Mandalorian.

Tony Gilroy, series writer and co-director, has written the story of Andor as a spy-thriller. The titular character Cassian Andor was portrayed as a shady character in Rogue One. With this in mind, viewers might expect to see a more risk-taking, morally gray side of the Rebel Alliance. Some of these morally questionable actions were displayed in Rogue One and this spy thriller will show how these are necessary to further the cause of the Rebel Alliance.

K-2SO is set to return to Andor as well. It will be interesting to see what adventures Cassian and K-2SO take on since their interactions in Rogue One were very entertaining. The droid added some good humor to a serious mission.

The series might see other characters like Saw Gerrera, the Onderonian resistance fighter with a more aggressive approach in the fight between the Rebel Alliance and the Empire. Will we see Gerrera as a mentor for Cassian since he has been fighting against the Empire for many years? Maybe the Star Wars fan base will get to see how Saw Gerrera becomes jaded during his many battles and conflicts with the Empire. We will have to wait and see what the writers and producers do with all the stories they could tell.

Andor costume designer Michael Wilkinson also noted:

“It’s huge. It’s brilliant… but also, it’s wonderfully challenging."

Unlike The Mandalorian, Andor was filmed on a special set built in the United Kingdom. Therefore, filming took a little longer than The Mandalorian. As you can see in the sizzle reel above, there are a lot of stunts and real lifelike scenes being shot, making Andor an exciting project for the Disney+ streaming service. Cassian Andor actor and executive producer Digeo Luna is very excited and proud of his series:

“As you can see, we’re getting ready, we’re building stage, we’re rehearsing, we’re training, we’re trying costumes, we’re doing everything to make sure we do the best show.”

As the Star Wars fan base has experienced with other Disney+ Star Wars series, Andor will be no different. It will be exciting, breathtaking, and terrific. All the series will be interesting to see as they fill in the gaps in the saga with new ideas. It is really cool how different producers and writers have come together to further the Star Wars universe for all of us. As a Star Wars fan, I can not wait to see all the cool Star Wars stories to come. Andor looks like it will be an awesome series.
