TOMORROW

What will happen tomorrow? Depends on us today!

I've been traveling and shooting in 99 countries. For the past 7 years, I’ve seen the different sides of our world: both amazingly breathtaking and disgustingly ugly. That's is how the idea to create this video has been born. The scientists are claiming that we have only 10 years left to change our behavior, and if we won't the greenhouse effect will be irreversible, this sounds overwhelming and frightening. So the thoughts are coming: What will we leave behind?

This short film has been shot all around the world, in 15 countries: USA, Ukraine, Philippines, Australia, Myanmar, Chile, Argentine, India, China, Uganda, Vanuatu, Canada, Namibia, Indonesia, Bangladesh. The climate changes are all around the world and we just can`t deny it!

Life is precious and we each get only one. So, we live our life to the fullest - satisfying our food needs: growing plants, raising livestock, driving constantly, depending on technology, turning into shopping addicts. Consuming ravenously, more and more…

The truth is blindingly obvious! Global consumerism leads to problems we can no longer ignore: a waste crisis, water pollution, starvation, abject poverty, overpopulation, sprawling urbanization, light and air pollution.

It all is destroying our environment and the climate is changing. Devastating wildfires are spewing tons of CO2 emissions. Glaciers are melting at an alarming rate. Water levels are rising and floods increasing. Reefs are bleaching and dying.

We all have seen the devastating wildfires burning across Australia. Two of the numbers from the fires are especially staggering:

1. One billion animals have been lost, including 1/3 of the koala population

2. At least 350 million metric tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) have been released by the fires, potentially requiring over a century to be absorbed.

We remember only too well the 2018 fires that ravaged California, and it is difficult to comprehend that they barely measure up:

• 2.M acres burned in California, 2018

• 2.2M acres burned in Amazon wildfires in 2019

• 6.7M acres burned in Siberian fires in 2019

• 20M acres burned in Australian wildfires 2019-2020. In just three months, fires are estimated to have released 350 million metric tons of carbon dioxide. Experts warn a century or more needed to absorb the CO2 released.

2019 was a year of record heat and record drought. As Guardian wrote: “The Antarctic has registered a temperature of more than 20C (68F) for the first time on record, prompting fears of climate instability in the world’s greatest repository of ice.”

Environment is degrading and without change, we will follow.

In 10 years, the greenhouse effect will be irreversible. According to Guardian, the world’s leading climate scientists have warned there is only a dozen years for global warming to be kept to a maximum of 1.5C, beyond which even half a degree will significantly worsen the risks of drought, floods, extreme heat and poverty for hundreds of millions of people. In 2018, the United Nations' Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change released a report describing what it would take to keep global temperatures from rising more than 1.5 degrees Celsius, a goal of the Paris climate agreement. The report explained that countries would have to cut their anthropogenic carbon dioxide emissions, such as from power plants and vehicles, to net zero by around 2050. To reach that goal, it said, CO2 emissions would have to start dropping "well before 2030" and be on a path to fall by about 45 percent by around 2030 (12 years away at that time).

While it can be overwhelming to see nature's upheaval from fires, tornadoes, hurricanes, floods, volcano eruptions and earthquakes, we shouldn't underestimate the positive impact of even small changes we can make:

• recycling trash.

• give your clothes the second chance by donating it

• using recycled shopping bags and water

The other alternatives are:

• electric = clean air vehicles

• solar power

• sustainable agriculture

• wind energy

It is our responsibility, and the time is NOW to save our amazing planet for generations to come.

What will happen tomorrow? It depends on us – TODAY!
