Three Principles: Unity, Consequence, and Guidance

As established throughout this series, every ideology must answer three questions: What is the nature of existence, is it random and purposeless, or does it have structure and direction? What is the human being, a product of circumstance with no real freedom, or a responsible agent whose choices carry weight? And where is history going, is it cyclical, declining, or actually progressing?

The answers must form a coherent system, without contradictions at the foundation.

Our analysis throughout the series has led to three principles. Each corresponds to one of these fundamental questions, and together they form a coherent framework whose parts fit together without contradiction.

Unity, The Answer to Existence

The first principle is unity: existence has direction and purpose. The world is not a random scattering of matter. It is a single, coherent whole, governed by real laws, moving toward a real destination. Everything in existence, from the smallest particle to the largest galaxy, from the first moment of creation to the last, is part of one unified process.

This is the answer to the first question. Existence is not random. It is not purposeless. It is not a dream. It is real, it has structure, and it is going somewhere.

The implications are enormous. If existence has unity and direction, then truth and falsehood are real. Good and evil are not conventions. The summit exists, and every step can be measured against it.

Consequence, The Answer to the Human Being

The second principle is consequence: human actions have real, intrinsic results. Not merely social consequences, not just what society punishes or rewards, but consequences rooted in the very fabric of existence itself.

This is the answer to the second question. The human being is not a compelled animal, driven by instinct and circumstance with no genuine freedom. The human being is a responsible agent, a being whose choices matter, whose actions carry weight, and whose life has objective moral significance.

If this principle holds, then responsibility is not an external imposition. It is built into the nature of being human. The person who sacrifices everything for justice and the person who betrays everything for comfort are not making equivalent choices. The difference between them is not a matter of social convention. It is a matter of reality.

This also answers Sartre's problem, when a student came to him torn between caring for his sick mother or leaving to fight for his homeland during WW2. Sartre could not advise him, because his philosophy offered no objective standard to weigh one choice against the other. With the principle of consequence, with the idea that actions carry intrinsic results aligned with the direction of existence, the question becomes answerable. Difficult, painful, perhaps agonizing, but answerable.

Guidance, The Answer to History

The third principle is guidance: conscious leadership accelerates the process of human development.

It answers the third question: Where is history going, and what accelerates its movement?

We believe history is not cyclical. It is not declining. It is progressing, moving toward greater complexity, greater consciousness, greater freedom. But this progress is not automatic. It can be accelerated or obstructed. Forces can align with it or resist it.

Guidance names the principle of conscious acceleration. Throughout history, certain figures, certain movements, certain ideas have appeared at critical moments and pushed the process forward, breaking barriers, dissolving stagnation, opening new stages of evolutionary development.

Our belief is that any force that genuinely advances human consciousness, that breaks the chains of ignorance, exploitation, and stagnation, participates in this function.

This is not mysticism. It is a claim about how history actually works, that progress requires conscious agency, that it does not happen on its own, and that the role of visionary leadership is not accidental but essential to the process.

Within this framework, one can also examine the role of prophets in the history of religions, as conscious agents who appeared at decisive moments and pushed human understanding forward.

How the Three Fit Together

Notice the coherence.

If existence has unity and direction, then the human being's actions must carry real consequences relative to that direction. And if both of these are true, then history must be progressing toward the fulfillment of that direction, aided by conscious agents who accelerate the process.

Remove any one of the three, and the system breaks.

Without unity, there is no direction, and consequence has no standard against which to measure results. Without consequence, the human being bears no real responsibility, and guidance has no one to guide. Without guidance, the process has no accelerator, and history becomes either automatic or aimless.

The three principles function like the three legs of a tripod. Each supports the others. Together, they hold.

A Starting Point, Not a Conclusion

We present these three principles not as conclusions to be accepted on faith, but as hypotheses to be tested against reality. The rest of the series, the investigation of evolution, the discovery of the three laws, the examination of the evidence from cosmology, biology, and social history, is precisely that test.

We must ask: if we investigate reality honestly, using both scientific observation and philosophical reasoning, do we find evidence for unity, direction, and purpose? Do we find that human actions carry real weight? Do we find that conscious guidance accelerates progress?

The answer, we believe, is yes. But that argument takes time to build. It requires examining the method of inquiry itself, how we know what we know, and what kinds of thinking lead us toward truth rather than away from it.

That examination begins in the next article.
