Duality is an intrinsic part of nature; yin and yang, chaos and order, push and pull, black and white.

Gemini represents that duality within the zodiac, often symbolised by the sign of twins, duality effectively rendered in physical form. There is a reason why fiction often represents twins as one good, one evil; polar opposites in character; often one hero and one villain.

Observing the Wild Gemini is to observe the Domesticated Gemini

If David Attenborough was to the study a Gemini in the wild, the camera may capture in a single moment a talkative, sociable being who flits from conversation to conversation in the office. They will be upbeat and happy; positive about life, the universe and everything.

Blink but for an instant though and…

The Gemini is now alone, a quiet, reflective being who is content to shut themselves away from the hub and bub of people, day-dreaming as they consider life, the universe and everything from multiple philosophical dimensions.

The narrator of the Gemini nature programme may ask “which is the real Gemini?” and “how can we trust in this being when it can’t be established what they truly are?” – maybe the Gemini is the more dangerous animal of the zodiac, despite the bulls, scorpions and lions vying for the position.

Here there be dragons

Known Geminis are often painted with warning graffiti.

Changeable.

Mutable.

Volatile.

The reputation of those who identify as Gemini can quickly be tarnished simply by the virtue of being Gemini. Some people proclaim Gemini is the least popular of the zodiac signs, with two-faced is one of the harsher descriptors. And yet, there is also no-one more loyal and steadfast than a committed Gemini.

People forget that adaptability is a good characteristic. Knowing how to read the room, adjusting to blend in or make others feel more comfortable…they are just a couple of the behaviours which are treasured and which a Gemini has in abundance. And people can’t quite help being attracted to the quick-witted passionate Gemini who bubbles over with charm and affection.

Some would proclaim that the sign is misunderstood; it’s not about being two-faced but needing to have a clone because the Gemini just has too much they’re trying to cram into their life.

Even so, perhaps “here there be dragons” is meant to be engraved on the dwelling of every Gemini. And who doesn’t love a dragon?

Or should that be cat?

Truthfully, the quintessential Gemini has a lot in common with the reputation of the average cat. Can be stand-offish but also will want to sit in a lap for hours. Independent and yet possessive and territorial about their human. Cats can also always communicate their wants and needs in voluble and loud meows, and so too can the Gemini.

Expect the Unexpected

If there is one thing universally agreed upon, it is that Gemini is the communicator of the zodiac. They will talk, write, wave billboards in the air…if they read the room, they also work that room with ease.

In a changing environment, a Gemini will help to win hearts and minds even as they ideate even more change in their passion and enthusiasm.

Really, the summary of the Gemini sign is ‘always expect the unexpected.’

Am I a Gemini?

Born under the Gemini sign, I’d always considered myself falling squarely into the category of 'does check all the boxes' when considering if it applied at all to my own personality.

Communication? Check.

Good with change? Check.

A dual personality? Check.

Talkative and bossy with my family and friends in one breath, and in the other, I’m curled up with a book and totally blanking the real world.

Yes, I’m a happy chatterbox and an introverted dreamer.

I’ve had boyfriends love my intense passion when I’m with them and yet complain at how distant I can be.

I’m volatile with a hot-temper and yet cool under pressure.

I’ve always wanted to be a dragon. Or a cat. Either would be cool.

Who am I?

Am I the Wild or the Domesticated Gemini?

You know the answer.

I’m both.
