The Nerd HabitPublished 3 years ago in FuturismWhat The Skywalker Family Would Have Looked Like Without Anakin's Fall To The Dark Side
Anakin Skywalker's fall to the Dark Side was the backbone of the George Lucas installments of the Star Wars saga - beginning his story as a young boy, and culminating in the climax of his redemption. It's the central heart of the Star Wars story - Anakin's path is the string that holds the Skywalker saga together in one piece. Fans watched him become the annoying teenager, then the tortured man vying to save the love of his life, and then as the young Jedi selling his soul to Palpatine. It's the most tragic of galactic stories. Anakin's turn to the Dark Side is a story that haunts the overall story - with characters from Obi-Wan to Luke wondering how and why their friend and father could fall so far.

The sport of podracing evolved from primitive races held with animal-drawn carts. Then came the Hanno Speeders, the predecessor to landspeeders. One day, Gustab Wenbus entered a race with a novel prototype vehicle. A mechanic named Phoebos designed the groundbreaking repulsorlift cockpit connected to powerful flaming jet engines. This allowed the podracer to reach the speed of 800- 900km/h. The gladiatorial sport of podracing was born, combining speed, adrenaline, and danger. Pilots gained fame and fortune. Crowds cheered at their flamboyant showmanship in addition to their skills at the helm. Spectators loved to see the fiery crashes, sometimes more so than the actual result of the race.

Imagine sitting in the theater watching The Rise of Skywalker. Some of the story choices are a lot to take in, as they feel like headscratchers. At the climax, there is supposed to be this moment that feels triumphant when many ships arrive to the aid of the Resistance at the Battle of Exegol. And we even get a glimpse of the familiar visage of Wedge Antilles, portrayed once again by Denis Lawson. Except...it does not feel very triumphant. For people like me who read the Aftermath trilogy and the Resistance Reborn novel, it felt jarring. Because right before Wedge's arrival, his stepson Temmin "Snap" Wexley dies.

Lucasfilm Games was founded in 1982 as a subsidiary of Lucasfilm Ltd. and created some amazing (and some less amazing) games, both within the Star Wars universe (like X-Wing, TIE Fighter, The Force Unleashed, among many others) and outside of it, like Sam & Max or the Maniac Manson series.

Human creativity is just the best. The Mandalorian has been the most popular show in recent years, and it's the first bit of Star Wars media that pretty much everyone can agree that they love in a long time. It combines the familiar Star Wars aesthetic with the feel of old western films of the earlier days of Hollywood. Din Djarin could easily fit in the same category of classic western heroes such as Shane from Shane, Will Kane from High Noon, and the Man with No Name played by Clint Eastwood in various films.

One of the most visually striking members of the Jedi Council, Master Plo Koon was a powerful Jedi, strong in the Force and extremely intelligent. While his orange, alien visage and protective mask and goggles make him an intimidating sight, Plo Koon was known for his compassion and caring. Master Plo had close friendships with many notable Jedi, including Obi-Wan Kenobi, Ahsoka Tano, and Mace Windu. While Plo Koon appears in all three prequel films and The Clone Wars TV show, there is still much to learn about this Kel Dor Jedi.

Deep in the Outer Rim Territories lies a strange, shadowy, and inhospitable world that is shrouded in the dark side of the Force. This remote and scarcely populated planet is home to several bizarre groups of beings, the likes of which are found in few other places in the galaxy. With no spaceports, advanced industry, or access to trade routes, the native population is forced to survive without the aid of the rest of the galaxy. The hardy residents include warriors and witches who are uniquely suited to this dark world, nicknamed "the Rancor planet."

Within the pages of the first issue, one of the key plot points references at length in the final film of the sequel trilogy might in fact be getting explored further: Force dyads.

The Outer Rim planet of Mon Cala is the homeworld of two unique aquatic species attempting to share the seas while maintaining a fragile peace: the calm and thoughtful Mon Calamari and the aggressive Quarren. These differences have resulted in numerous conflicts, wars, assassinations, and other turmoil on the water world. In the words of Crown Prince Lee Char, "the Mon Cala and Quarren have always had a complicated relationship but it has always been respectful." While the Mon Calamari monarchy reigns over the planet, the Quarren are allowed to represent themselves on the Mon Calamari Council and are granted the same rights and protections as the Mon Cal while being allowed to practice their own cultures and beliefs within their own city, named simply Quarren City.

Over the last few months, Gina Carano, who has been playing Cara Dune in the live-action Star Wars series The Mandalorian, has been stirring a lot of controversy on social media. By now, many are familiar with her anti-masking beliefs and how she has treated the inclusion of pronouns in bios in a joking manner. Earlier this week, she drew attention (again) when she seemed to be comparing modern life as a Republican to the suffering of the Jews in Nazi Germany. This was the final straw that made Lucasfilm decide to cut ties, and it became publicly known that they would not be working with her on Star Wars in the future, a topic on which we previously reported.

The look and name ("The Grave Robber") that Kylo Ren almost had in the Star Wars sequel trilogy are either cool or downright lame, right? Recently resurfaced concept art from Star Wars: The Force Awakens is drawing interest, and I am sure that a lot of chatter and debates will go on for a long time to come in the Star Wars fanbase.
