Dragons: Common Species
What do dragons look like? Where are they found? What are their habits? With so many types of dragons to learn about, a field guide is very useful. Unfortunately, accurate field guides are very rare and very expensive. For this reason, I have compiled the characteristics of three of the most common dragons.
Just Your Ordinary BookwormPublished 3 years ago in Futurism The World of RWBY
The world of Remnant. It is a fantasy world that many who will read this are probably unfamiliar with from the hit online series RWBY. The world of RWBY is fascinating for many reasons extending from the work itself and even outside the narrative. It was a world crafted from a dream and a few coincidental moments experienced by the series' late creator Monty Oum. This series left a deep impression on me when I first discovered it online five years ago. When you break it all down, it's not hard to see why this series and this world has a vibe that is in sync with so many. This series is very near and dear to my heart. It is one I would cite as my favorite series and indeed my favorite fantasy series of all time.

Fantasy. A world just out of reach, created within a single mind and then brought to life in millions of other minds. It is mysterious and unfamiliar, yet somehow becomes real when held to the bright light of imagination.

I love cats. I've had cats most of my life, My first cat arrived for my 5th birthday in a cardboard box with flaps closed. She scratched and wailed as my aunt set the box on the table, plaintive wails, desperate scratches. She scrambled out when I opened the box and bit me when I picked her up. She was black and white and found among other kittens in a barn. She had distemper. Her eyes were rheumy and her motions weak. Within a month she was run over in our driveway by my uncle Doug's garbage truck. He didn't kill her. She wailed and scratched at the gravel, and my mother had to dig a hole, place her on its edge, and decapitate her with a gardening spade. When I came home from school, Mum's hands trembled only slightly when she told me Bubbles was dead but didn't suffer. "No more cats," she said.

I look through the massive window before me; before MANY in fact. I'm one of the first people to see the frozen pond. Beneath the ice lie great figures of history who will one day be revived. My trip to this cryogenic laboratory is obligatory: I must familiarize myself with the history of my people. The only problem, as I see it, is that these particular figures held incredibly similar beliefs to the present leaders of all the states and territories of Australia now; in 2040. If eyes can be cold, and expressions freeze, then surely it's not such an extravagant leap to suggest that ideologies could also become crystallized in such a manner, much like excess dirty money, by authoritarian practices and unwavering allegiance to whomever may be reigning, hoping to be pleasing them always, like they're cats falling from the sky, as cute as angels.
Luck of Frozen Pond
Shock jolted my body as my feet hit wood. Some leyline snapped between Mor and me; my chin jammed into my chest, rattling my teeth. What had just happened? Wasn’t I daughter to Mor and Da? Hadn’t my parents meant to better our family position by marrying me to King Ransom, purchasing his affections? Hadn’t my Rumple luck spun straw into a golden dowry?

Frost ogre brains hang like Audhumla’s udders beneath a line of anxious cows at dawn. Below them emanates an intense green light. Suspended inside the green glow reflected from mammatus clouds, a girl named Rosalyn shimmers like surreal pearls, a raven treading air by her side.

I need to open my eyes because some green light's getting into them, like traveling at the speed of an even brighter one, through my eyelids. On the bright screen before me are the words: you now have the green light to walk, so please tread carefully.
