The scene is hard to forget. In a dystopian and devastated world, an army of robots fight men on the ground and air, resisting as best they can.
It’s a crazy world we live in. We’re able to literally reach the stars, communicate from one end of the world to the other, and even create self-evolving machines. Technological advancement doesn’t seem to exhaust itself.
The Major Breakthrough in Artificial Intelligence
The idea of having a computer or A.I. driving people around is something that the majority of people in 2019 are still having doubts about when it comes up. However, this futuristic concept is inevitable, in fact, we are much closer to the times of driverless cars than we may think. Some believe that we may not see this for another 10 years or so, however, I believe we may have A.I. behind the wheel sooner than that. Due to the deployment of 5G technology, which will be a game changer in the information technology and communication industries real soon, I’m going to guess by no later than 2025 we may see people trading their automatic transmission vehicles for autonomous ones. Once 5G becomes nationwide, it will only pave the way for driverless cars to become the dominant form of transportation on the road.
What if... in the not so far future, the scientists of the world gathered together and created the most sophisticated artificial intelligence being that has ever existed? And, what if... that "robot" was special because of its unique ability to not just gain knowledge from the world wide web, but also use reasoning? Its first and foremost program would be to use this knowledge to help humankind flourish and prosper. Its prime directive would always be to protect humankind and never to harm.
I am a human. I live in a physical world of matter, both visible, invisible and undetectable. However, humans have created a new thing. A meta-data universe.
The year is 2050. The room is quiet. In the center is an object shaped as a sphere, which emits faint rays of light and a humming sound.
If quantum AI is the Silk Road that will one day connect the power of quantum computing with solutions to some of the most important problems and biggest opportunities of the day, then evaluating gradients is the daunting Khyber Pass along the route.
We live in a world where automation and human-like robotics have become common in the business community performing data-heavy tasks in milliseconds. Thanks to AI, people can monitor their health and fitness levels using a digital intelligence bracelet, know when the milk is about to run out in a refrigerator, can have driverless cars, and a Google learning machine that is capable of learning data patterns and analyzing them.
I talk about the evolution of the artificial being at the New York City College of Technology, CUNY, 27 November 2018.
I don't remember the time before the Director was born. He controls our life, our conversations, our work, everything. You can't breathe without the Director knowing. He's like God, he's f****** everywhere, until I found a place to hide.
