Sasha Banks Is Fangirling Over Her Role In 'The Mandalorian' And We Are Too

Star Wars is, without a doubt, the biggest and most influential film series (and arguably media series in general) in the history of film. Since its debut in 1977, it has been a cultural milestone, with it still being number two on the overall highest grossing films list, behind only Gone With the Wind. Since then, Star Wars has just been a part of society in a way that few other pieces of media have. With that in mind, it would be a huge honor to be a part of the universe, especially in an amazing show like The Mandalorian, arguably already one of the best TV shows of all time, and certainly one of the best pieces of Star Wars media possibly since the original trilogy.

Actress Sasha Banks feels the same way.

In an interview with Variety, she said:

"It’s a huge deal. I still cannot get over it. It still does not feel real to me. The more interviews I do, the more I feel like 'Oh, my God, holy shit.' I’m telling you right now, it still does not feel real to me. It’s frickin Star Wars! One of the biggest franchises in the whole world, one of the biggest universes you can ever be a part of."

It's hard to disagree with her. Countless people around the world would give up almost anything to be in a Star Wars film or show for even a few minutes of screen time and a line or two. Now she's in a position where she had a key part in the third episode of the second season.

The WWE star didn't even audition for a part in the show. The director of the series, Jon Favreau, saw an interview she did with Hot Ones, and he contacted her about a role in the show. As anyone would, she said yes. She landed the role of resistance fighter Koska Reeves, and appeared in the show alongside Bo-Katan Kryze, a character previously only seen in animation. Like many of the new characters that the titular Mandalorian and Baby Yoda run into, they have to get their fight on and save the two main characters from that week's perilous situation.

Before actually seeing her in the show, we caught a glimpse of Banks in the trailer for the second season of The Mandalorian. Almost nothing was known about her, as all we saw was a cloaked and hooded figure silently watching Din and Baby Yoda from a hidden spot behind some crates. There was an air of mystery about her that made fans just as excited to see her as she was to actually appear on screen. Now that we know her character and parts of her story, we'll look forward to seeing if she shows up in future episodes. There is no doubt that Banks would be more than happy to reprise the role, if she isn't already slated to appear in subsequent episodes of the season.

With the success of The Mandalorian, any role would be a dream for any actor. When you factor in both the quality of the show itself and that it's Star Wars, the most influential and popular media series of all time, it's not hard to understand Banks's excitement in being given a role, especially one important to the overall story. Without people throughout the galaxy willing to pull Din and Baby Yoda out of the fire, the show would be over quickly. It remains to be seen what more will come of the character, but regardless, Sasha Banks will no doubt look upon this as one of her favorite roles.
