On Monday, June 17th, at 4:30AM EST, we will have a Full Moon at 25'53 degrees of the optimistic and adventurous sign of Sagittarius. Here's what to expect.

What Is a Full Moon?

Throughout history, Full Moons have been known to cause unexpected events, and strange behavior. In fact, the word "lunatic" comes from the word "luna," meaning moon.

A full moon occurs when the sun is opposite the moon, representing the peak, or climax of the lunar cycle. Because the two luminaries are in opposition to one another, full moons are known to highlight any opposing forces, or polarities in your life, such as the balance between self, and the other, the balance between the masculine and feminine, and the balance between work, and home.

Full moons are also good times to reflect on where you are in life, and where you are headed. While the period between the new moon, and the full moon is a time for setting (and achieving) goals, the period between the full moon, and the next new moon is a time for letting go. Full moons can also bring about climactic events, and awaken us to powerful truths and realizations. The effects of a full moon usually last about two weeks, until the new moon comes along, and starts a new cycle.

It may help to think back to what happened around the time of the New Moon in Gemini, for whatever intentions you planted then should be coming into fruition at this time, as well as six months back to when the New Moon was in Sagittarius, for certain themes may be repeating themselves. Whatever thoughts or intentions you plant now should come into fruition by the time of the partial Solar Eclipse in Cancer on July 2nd.

Full Moon in Sagittarius 2019

The Full Moon in Sagittarius is opposite the Sun in Gemini, highlighting the balance between communication/language and higher, more spiritual, knowledge more personal in nature. It highlights the balance between social skills and ethics, as well as logic and morals. These things shouldn't be at odds with each other but often are. What is popular is not always whats right and what is right is not always popular. Speaking the truth and standing up against injustices is not always the most convenient thing to do, for your own self-interest, or at least it doesn't seem that way. The tension between what is popular or convenient to say/believe and what is true, right and just may be felt more strongly while this Full Moon is in effect. Just remember that while it may seem like doing the right thing gets you punished in the short-term, the rewards you get in the long-term are even greater, much greater.

This axis is really all about truth, with Gemini representing what is intellectually, logically true and Sagittarius representing what is emotionally true or should I say, morally right. These things shouldn't be at odds with each other, but again, they often are. Many people even view science and religion as opposites, when really, the two subjects have vastly different functions. Science is all about how the world works; religion is about how to live your life. Evolution and the Big Bang theory may be facts, but there are no guiding philosophical principles behind them. We can't live our lives with the knowledge of science alone. Similarly, Gemini's function is to gather and spread information, but there isn't always a moral compass behind what the Gemini gathers and shares, leading Geminis to be stereotyped as gossips who can't keep secrets. That's where Sagittarius comes in. Gemini represents information about what is, Sagittarius represents knowledge about how to live.

The Moon is conjunct Sagittarius's ruling planet, Jupiter, causing us to feel joyful and optimistic. Even with Jupiter in Retrograde, there is a feeling of abundance in the air, like something amazing is just on the edge of happening. Jupiter in Retrograde could cause a (positive) sense of nostalgia or things from the past, that is the things we've missed, could return to us. This Full Moon could also help us look at the past from a higher perspective, helping us to heal and move on. Nothing can weigh us down anymore.

Jupiter is exactly square Neptune at 18 degrees Neptune. This means that our dreams, goals, and ideas may be a little unrealistic at the moment... but where has realism ever gotten us anyway? Everything we have once started out as some crazy idea in someone's head. Every piece of technology we own, electronic or not, even the very foundation of society itself—all of it is based upon ideas that were once thought of as "unrealistic"—but now, we couldn't imagine a life without them. Don't let "realism," get to you, for Neptune is also making an exact sextile to Saturn in Capricorn, helping us turn our dreams and ideas, no matter how crazy or fantastical they seem, into a reality.

Neptune is also making a close trine to Mercury, Mars, and the North Node in Cancer, which helps us to think logically and take action, so we can make our dreams a reality. Listen to your intuition: our thoughts and actions could feel divinely inspired at this moment. This alignment puts us in touch with our authentic feelings: our communication is blunt, straightforward, and emotionally-driven. Saturn opposite these planets may put a more "negative" spin on things, but only if we let it. Saturn, opposite Mercury and Mars, could cause us to doubt our divinely-inspired ideas and actions, but only so we can question the practicality of them. Don't let these doubts cause you to give up on your dreams. Instead, let them guide you towards practical ways of achieving them.

Overall, this Full Moon in Sagittarius is a very magical one. Those with personal planets or angles between 20 to 29 degrees of the mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces) will mostly strongly feel its benefits, as well as those with personal planets or angles between 20 and 29 degrees of the other fire signs (Aries and Leo). But there is sure to be good fortune and wish fulfillment for everyone.
