My Review of "The Mandalorian: Season 2"

I didn't think this season could get any better but this second season blew all my expectations.

The Mandalorian: Season 2 starts off right after the first season left off. Now that we've been introduced to all of the main characters the story can continue in a much broader direction. You really do have to watch through the first season to really understand or get a grasp of all of the character relationships. This way you'll truly appreciate this second season.

This season starts off with Mando basically trying to look for the homeland of the baby Yoda that's been with him from day one of the first season. He wants to bring him back to his people or at least to people that understand who he is. This basically puts him on a whole slew of expeditions that introduces to more characters and helps build up what's going to happen at the end of the season.

The last season ended with a sad note. Mando ends up being the last of his kind or so he thinks. He wants to find other Mandalorians and he's hoping they would be able to help him find a home for the baby Yoda character he's been babysitting.

The first job he is put on is to escort a frog woman with her babies to a distant planet. This is kind of a catalyst to start off the domino reaction of things to happen. We also start to question whether the baby Yoda character is a good character or possibly a bad character since he continually eats the frog woman's babies.

Through a series of crazy events they accomplish their task and the frog woman leads them to a character that she believed was another Mandalorian. It isn't exactly what he expects but in a way it is even cooler because this chain of events brings out a special cameo that I didn't expect to see.

We meet some of the coolest characters yet and some added throwbacks to past cool characters. I love how all of these characters are so badass and yet still flawed in their own ways. It's not like any of these characters are invincible and gain superpowers from nowhere. I understand these characters still have an air of vulnerability and that anything can happen to any of them. There's still sense of danger no matter situation they're put in.

Admittingly some of the situations that they're put in or that they get themselves into are pretty convenient. Guns show up out of nowhere or they conveniently get out of situations because of some lucky situations that happen. It kind of reminded me of a bunch of Han Solo savior situations from episode 4 happening a lot in a few episodes. They might be pandering to fans but they work oddly enough. It's fun and I don't know how they pulled this off when we constantly complain about it in movies nowadays.

The series continues to have that western feel to it with Mando still not having a name of his own and he's still adamant about his code. This only makes things a lot more powerful when he has to question his moral codes when he's put into some sticky scenarios.

I don't know a ton about the Star Wars universe but they do have a ton of popular cameos. Some I recognize but I don't really know about because I've seen the characters before. Then there's some that will absolutely have you floored. The whole thing about the first season was that it was a series of its own that didn't rely on any Star Wars cameos to survive. This series still doesn't need the cameos to help it but it doesn't hurt though. These cameos will blow your mind when you see them.

The action sequences are really high up there because they generally got me really hyped when I watched them. They aren't the craziest sequences but the pacing of the action scenes is what really counted. They built so much anticipation and very rewarding by the end of the sequences.

Overall, I have to say you need to watch this Mandalorian season from beginning to end of second season. It is absolutely satisfying to Star Wars lovers and those that don't really know anything about Star Wars. The only differences is that those that aren't into Star Wars won't get some of the references or cameos. It is a really fun series overall. I have to give this second season a 9 out of 10. It is probably the one biggest reason to have a Disney Plus subscription right now.
