Moon Sign Placements

Everyone knows their sun sign, but in astrology there are many other factors that affect your chart, and who you are personally. Next to the Sun sign, your Moon sign is probably the most influential. It represents your emotions, and your feelings, what you need and project from your soul. Some astrologers and therapists who are versed in astrology consider this placement more important than the Sun. Ask any ER doctor or nurse about how crazy things get on the full moon and you will understand. The moon changes sign every 2.5 days, and this why you often wake up from day to day “feeling” different. Some days you wake up feeling like a Lion ready to take on the world and other days you just want to crawl under the covers and cry. That is the moon for you.

The moon represents your mother and the kind of mothering you need and crave (but do not always get which shows up in hard aspects). Oftentimes you will find that a person’s moon sign is actually strongly predominant in the mother figure in your life. For example, I am a Taurus and my daughter’s Moon is in, you guessed it, Taurus. And ironically, her Sun is in Pisces and my Moon is in Pisces. Needless to say, we have a double whammy strong and caring relationship.

For men, the moon sign can be a sticky wicket because it indicates where they need to channel their feminine energy. It is where they feel very vulnerable, and vulnerability in our society is sometimes considered weakness. This is their soft side, their mushy side. However, once they embrace their moon sign, they will find that they attract women that fall into the parameters of the type of woman he craves and is looking for and what he needs emotionally. The moon is different from Venus (which is romantically inclined), but your Moon sign goes deep into the core of what YOU want and need emotionally. So, ladies, look to see where your man’s moon is, and you will find his soft spot. Don’t use it to manipulate him though. That will backfire karmically on you. But it helps to understand for all to understand what your partner needs and wants from you. Because sometimes they cannot communicate effectively.

Aries Moon

If a person’s moon falls in go-getter fire-sign Aries, at their emotional core, they are impulsive, passionate, independent, and excitable. HOT AND ON FIRE! It is like they have a lighter in one hand compelling them to light things up and a bucket of water in the other hand to put out the fires they can’t help but start. The men with this moon sign tend to be a bit chauvinistic. No, that is an understatement; they are chauvinistic (although this can be tempered to an extent in the rest of their chart). But overall, they are “the man” and you are “the woman.” Even in same sex relationship. They are almost always the masculine ones. Always. The men will crave sassy, sexy women and then get frustrated when they can’t take or win them. And then if and when they do tame them, they get bored and wonder what happened to the “fire.”? When they express their feelings in relationships with a significant other, potential partner, or loved ones, their personality is playful, almost childlike. The drawbacks of this placement, they can be argumentative, immature, and competitive. Men like their women in red dresses, sky high heels and musky perfume, and Aries moon women like to wear red. The women like military men and athletes and even though they don’t want to be tamed, they sure as hell want you to try. Both men and women think fast and are always trying to anticipate what you are going to say, so they are not very good listeners. They crave being “liked”. On the other hand, they can be very loyal and will happily go to battle for you. They want to fight for you.

Taurus Moon

Chocolate. Just think chocolate and desserts of all kinds. And some good wine or cognac. Always have sweets available to keep this position sweet and cuddly. Moon in Taurus are slow to anger, grounded and prioritize security, safety in their lives. Their home will be a tranquil sanctuary and if you live with them, they will ensure that you have everything you need financially. They take great pride in nurturing and building emotional connections over time. At the same time, their personality traits might make it difficult to adapt and move forward after a relationship is no longer serving you. In other words, they will not leave a relationship even if they are being used and taken advantage of. Men, if you are falling for a Moon in Taurus woman make sure she has plenty of creature comforts. She will be slow to commit, but as long as you keep a pantry stocked with expensive chocolate and good wine, you will be fine. Women, if your man has Moon in Taurus, be comforted to know that the BILLS will be paid. Responsible and loyal to a fault. Gemini Moon

Those born when the moon was in chatty air sign Gemini can't help but fuse their love of language with their emotions. You will get novel length love letters. But on the other hand, if you scorn them, you will be inundated with letters and written correspondence telling you what a POS you are. They will text bomb you if they love you or if you reject them. Education is very important to them, whether they are going to lectures or are reading and becoming self-taught. These are easy people to talk things out with. They love trivia. They always have to have the television going or a radio. They can multi-task, especially with communication. If you go out with one, expect him to be texting and on his phone all the time. Rest assured even if you think they are ignoring you, their computer brains absorb everything. They know everyone! They can be cruel gossips, however. They are so good with words, but they need to learn to listen. On the other hand, they are so clever, funny, and witty, you just love to listen to them. They live for witty banter, intellectual debate, and expressing feelings in a light, unrestricted, free-spirited way. They will also often rationalize emotions, which can bolster mental energy and connection. But the personality of a Gemini moon can make it tough to land on how you truly feel. They tend to talk in circles about emotions ,but struggle to actually sit and live with those feelings. Both men and women need to expect that this placement will have many friends of the opposite sex. However, if you act with jealousy, they will turn their heels and leave. Rest assured; most likely they consider these others mere friends. Although sometimes these “friends” might misinterpret Moon in Gemini overtures of friendship to be more than is intended.

Cancer Moon

People born with the moon in sentimental water sign Cancer, are extremely maternal and giving emotionally, finding that it bolsters their sense of security to care for others. They must have a safe and supportive home life. And because Cancer is ruled by the moon, their personality might make them especially sensitive to its phases. If you want variety, you will get it with this placement because they literally wake up different every 2.5 days. With this placement, there's a tendency to get resentful and cranky when they feel like they have been giving far more than they have been receiving. The flip side is that they are so giving, the rest of us can’t compete with their emotional generosity. They are very charismatic, and they spend a tremendous amount of time fantasizing that they are the STAR of their very own romantic comedy. They tend to be sunny and optimistic as long as they are not betrayed. They have a flair for the dramatic and are great entertainers. You will never be bored. They never shy away from grand expressions of emotion and rarely shy away from fully embracing and owning their emotional state. They might struggle with self-focus, which can, at its worst, translate to egocentricity. It really is all about them. However, if they decide you belong to them, you will be treated like you are their Queen or King and heaven help anyone foolish enough to be disrespectful to you. Loyal to a fault. They want you to look the part too. No sloppy torn jeans (even if they are trendy). Men want their women in pretty dresses, and the women swoon over designer suits. If you are going to be on their arm, look the part! They are designer whores and want to dress themselves and you in the best. They want perfection because after all they are the royalty of the Zodiac.

Virgo Moon

If the moon was in the cerebral earth sign Virgo when someone is born, their emotions go hand-in-hand with wanting to be of service to others, often doing so by applying their advanced communication skills in a thoughtful way. Service is a huge theme in their lives. They get off on waiting on you. Breakfast in bed, foot rubs, back rubs, need your bath run, they will make sure all your needs are taken care of. Who could ask for more? But damn, they are whiney and fussy! It is tough for them to reconcile what's going on in their head versus their heart, as they are so intellectually oriented. They obsess over minutiae, which fuels innate thoughtfulness. The negative side of the Virgo moon personality is that you might be extra sensitive and tend toward overthinking when it comes to matters of the heart. But dang, do you obsess over details and will nitpick until people want to shoot you or themselves. But then you go and do something just so sweet and kind, confusing your loved ones. You love to organize and clean; it truly relieves stress for you. On the other hand, you have disgusting habits Yeah, we know you pick at your nose and sniff your dirty underwear to see if you can get by wearing them one more day. You don’t like to share your food because, well, that is germy. You want your partner to be immaculately clean, but not necessarily perfumy. Simple, modest clothes on your loved ones turn you on. Country dresses on the girls and simple clothes for the men. Woman swoon over the idea of the lonely cowboy.

Libra Moon

If the moon was in the beauty-loving air sign Libra at the time of their birth, their emotional compass has them on a perpetual mission to achieve balance, beauty, and harmony. Being fair is paramount as long as you don’t expect them to be fair. Social butterflies to a fault. Their emotional fulfillment often hinges on social interactions with loved ones and friends or any activity that plays into your love of all things beautiful and luxurious. They notice the quality of your sheets and your kitchen better have the fanciest newest appliances! For God’s sake, there better not be Hamburger Helper in your pantry. The airy nature of their moon makes it possible for them to think rationally when things get heated, but as someone who avoids conflict at all costs, they can become passive aggressive very quickly. Libra moons are very relationship minded, but they have a hard time making up their minds, and they usually have a long line of suitors wanting them. That, with their tendency of expecting others to do as they say, but not as they do and this keeps them lonely. Even the ugly ones are beautiful with soft soulful eyes. The women tend to be smart, soft, and very appealing. The men are gallant, smart and make you feel like you are their world while you are there in front of them. Scorpio Moon

Twisty, twisted, and then more twisty and sexier than hell. Those born when the moon was moving through the magnetic water sign Scorpio experience their emotions intensely and come off as mysterious, secretive, and powerful. They find security in attachments that are brimming with passion, trust, and absolute loyalty. They would prefer to involve themselves in relationships that create space for transformation. Born when the moon was in the adventurous fire sign Sagittarius, these people find a sense of security in soaking up knowledge and pursuing eye-opening experiences. They are daring free spirits who take great pride in their individuality. That said, they have a personality that needs space to breathe and grow on their own terms, ideally through traveling, learning, or exploring philosophy, religion, and spirituality. They also prefer to express how they feel in a direct, unfiltered way and might be especially blunt and even harsh when aggravated by what they perceive as unnecessary complications or mind games. Not the most diplomatic. Lady’s do not ask, “does this make me look fat?” because you will get a truthful answer. Men don’t be possessive or jealous, she will have friends of the opposite and will flirt shamelessly with them especially if they are witty and smart. Be smarter and cleverer than the others and she will never leave. And keep a savings account to fund spontaneous and fun adventures, preferably out of the country. Keep them off guard, and you will have their hearts forever. Don’t fence them in or tie them down.

Capricorn Moon

If you are falling for someone born when the moon was in industrious earth sign Capricorn, they will move the earth to take care of your emotional well-being. You must be ambitious and career oriented. They thrive and fall in love when they feel like you're putting in the work to be successful and have goals. They are down-to-earth and serious about their feelings and when sharing how they feel. They believe in the power of putting their nose to the grindstone in all matters, including within their nearest and dearest relationships. They are extremely focused hard workers. For them to thrive, their personality requires them to feel like their personal and professional lives work in tandem, and if they're not, they will be moody and grumpy. Not the most romantic folks, they might think Valentine cards and roses are silly, wasteful, and frivolous, but they probably are the most stable emotionally out there. Both men and women will make sure bills are paid with enough to keep that 401K humming. They live their lives focused on retirement, and then you will find them in a huge Class A motorhome traveling the country and world. Often, they seem to become younger the older they get. They dress elegantly but simply. They instinctively understand quality, and if they see you as quality, they will be faithful until death.

Aquarius Moon

Head cases, all of them. If your love is born with the moon in the futuristic air sign Aquarius, their emotional core is best described as individualistic, humanitarian, forward-thinking, and quirky. They like to be the odd duck. And if you are an odd duck, they will be fascinated. They are happiest if you're putting your time and energy into high-minded ideals and improving life for others in your community; although sometimes this is only cerebral as they really do not like to dig in and get their hands dirty. They are great at complaining and clutching their pearls about the unfairness of their life and others. They are looking for a best friend, not a forever lover. Good at the friends with benefits scenario.

Pisces Moon

If the moon was in romantic water sign Pisces when this person was born, they are deeply spiritual, idealistic dreamers — and perhaps even a bit psychic. They love dark mysterious things, witchcraft, obscure religions, superstitions. They will idealize their loved ones and will refuse to see the ugly parts of their loved one’s personality. After all they love you so much, how could you not be perfect? They put their closest relationships on a pedestal and see the world through rose-colored glasses. While their personality makes them natural at wading into the depths of emotion and being extremely empathic, it can be tough for them to ground yourself, and they might struggle with gloomy moods and escapism. Very dreamy and spacey, yet these people can play mind games and you never quite know where you stand with them. They can say and write the most beautiful things. You find this placement in poets and songwriters. They can then turn on a dime and decimate you with a look or a word. Don’t try to catch them and put them in a fishbowl to admire. They will put you on a pedestal, but don’t do it to them. They will die of heartbreak. They love to read and surround themselves with books which at times they seem to love more than you. Sometimes life is just too darn hard. Women like to dress like fairies, angels and butterflies and men want to wear soft comfy clothes and thrive at Ren Fairs. They have a fascination with feet and shoes. Extremely good in bed, and their beds are rarely empty.
