On Thursday, December 12th, 2019, at approximately 12:12 AM EST (or in other words, just a little after midnight on the night of Wednesday, December 11th), we will have a Full Moon at 19'51 degrees Gemini, sign of the twins. Those of you who are into numerology might find it significant that we should have a Full Moon at 12:12 on 12/12. This Full Moon is an especially major one because it's the last of the year, before the Solar Eclipse on December 26th. Here's what to expect.

On Thursday, December 12th, 2019, at approximately 12:12 AM EST (or in other words, just a little after midnight on the night of Wednesday, December 11th), we will have a Full Moon at 19'51 degrees Gemini, sign of the twins. Those of you who are into numerology might think it should be significant that we should have a Full Moon at 12:12 on 12/12. This Full Moon is an especially major one because it's the last of the year, before the Solar Eclipse on December 26th. Here's what to expect.

What is a Full Moon?

A Full Moon occurs when the sun is opposite the moon, representing the peak, or climax of the lunar cycle. Throughout history, Full Moons have been known to cause unexpected events, and strange behavior. Because the two luminaries are in opposition to one another, Full Moons are known to highlight any opposing forces or polarities in your life, such as the balance between self and the other, the balance between the masculine and feminine, and the balance between work and home.

Full Moons are also good times to reflect on where you are in life, and where you are headed. While the period between the new moon and the Full Moon is a time for setting (and achieving) goals, the period between the Full Moon and the next new moon is a time for letting go. Full Moons can also bring about climactic events, and awaken us to powerful truths and realizations. The effects of a Full Moon usually last about two weeks, until the new moon comes along and starts a new cycle.

The Full Moon in Gemini (opposite the Sun in Sagittarius) highlights the balance between logic and belief, duality and cohesiveness, or to better phrase it, open-mindedness & adaptability versus arrogance and self-righteousness. It highlights issues relating to communication and the quest for knowledge.

It may help to think back to whatever intentions you set around the New Moon in Sagittarius, for they should be coming into fruition at this time, as well as six months back to the New Moon in Gemini on June 3rd. Certain themes may be repeating themselves. Whatever thoughts or intentions you plant now should come into fruition by the New Moon Solar Eclipse in Capricorn on December 26th.

Check your natal chart to see which houses Gemini & Sagittarius fall into. This will tell you more about how the Full Moon will affect you personally.

Those with personal planets or angles between 14 and 24 degrees of the mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces) will most especially be affected by this Full Moon.

Full Moon in Gemini 2019

Gemini, the sign of the twins, is a symbol of duality and contradiction. Like the Yin Yang, Gemini is representative of opposing forces that are mutually reliant on each other, like dark and light, day and night, good and evil. With this in mind, we can expect our emotions to swing between two extremes; joy and sadness, love and hate, perhaps in an effort to find integration. Many of us might find ourselves to be elated one minute only to be crying the next. Gemini is a sign of variety as well as changeability.

Relationships are the main focus of this Full Moon. As the sign of communication, ruled by Mercury, Gemini is actually a more relationship-orientated sign than given credit for. In Tarot, Gemini corresponds with the Lovers card and is ruled by Venus in Esoteric Astrology. As a mutable Air sign, Gemini, is stereotyped as flighty and afraid of commitment and anything involving feelings. But really, Gemini just wants to mingle and socialize with anyone and everyone in order to learn and gain the most knowledge it can, with the hopes of finding the real thing at the end of the day.

This can be seen through its opposite sign Sagittarius. While Gemini represents duality, Sagittarius represents cohesiveness, the overarching truth that we are all looking for. We may find at this time that there are no real answers, that there are two sides to every story, multiple truths, but that’s ok. The destination isn’t so important, at the end of the day. What matters is enjoying the journey along the way.

Ruled by Mercury, Gemini is the sign of communication and communication is what makes any relationship, romantic or not, work.

Because Gemini is ruled by Mercury, planet of the mind, we may find ourselves over-analyzing our relationships, our emotions and all our interactions with others. Our anxieties and insecurities might be blown out of proportion. The Sun in Sagittarius reminds us to live in the moment and accept things as they are. Trust your instincts. Believe in love.

While not making an aspect to the Full Moon directly, the Full Moon coincides with some pretty major aspects to Venus, at 20'03 degrees Capricorn.

I've stated before that the conjunction between Saturn & Pluto (exact on January 12th, 2020 - expect an article to come) is one of the most important aspects of 2020, and during the Full Moon, Venus will sit right between these two planets. Saturn, at 19'09 degrees Capricorn and Pluto, 21'45 degrees, are two of the most widely feared planets, often viewed as harbingers of doom and gloom. Saturn is a planet of restriction, limitation, oppression and sadness, while Pluto carries similar themes of control and manipulation, but also, obsession and desire. While both planets can be seen to represent power struggles, however, they are different.

Saturn represents the material realm, along with all its earthly obligations, such as work and school, and Saturnian individuals are often very mature, responsible, and highly respected. Saturn's negative reputation often stems from its coldness and lack of regard for emotion, and all of the subtle inner qualities that make us who we are. Pluto, as the modern ruled of Scorpio, the fixed water sign (and arguably the most emotional of allll the signs) is very emotional in nature.

As god of the underworld, Pluto sees beyond the veil of the material realm and is very aware of the inner qualities that make us who we are. Driven by powerful emotions, a Plutonian individuals' desire for control, has more to do with the knowledge of other people's dark-side. Plutonic energy is reflective of the bad experiences that leave us feeling paranoid, constantly suspicious of other's motives, wanting to gain the upper hand and hurt others before they hurt us. It is also reflective of our own emotional dark-side, the feelings and coping mechanisms, the obsessions and compulsions, that may or may not be so healthy.

When these two planets come together with Venus, planet of love and beauty, many of us are likely to experience intense feelings of loneliness during this Full Moon. Feelings of desire are strong, but they may be unrequited, unfulfilled, and drive us crazy with unhealthy obsession. Pluto represents the wanting; Saturn represents the blockages; the things, people & circumstances that stand in the way of us getting what we want.

This aspect can also create difficulty and drama in existing relationships. We may doubt our partners, and/or ourselves, assuming the worst, even when there's no evidence to back it up, and creating unnecessary conflict as a result, becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy. We might isolate ourselves, or lack affection in our interactions with others, due our fears of rejection and vulnerability. Whether you're dealing with a crush or a long term partner, there is likely to be mind games and power struggles. Think, going out of your way to make each other jealous. There could be passive-aggressiveness, and communication through subtle means (think thirst traps or songs posted on social media that are clearly directed at a specific person, to give an example). Resist the temptation to play games, and try to be as upfront as you can.

This conjunction between Venus, Saturn and Pluto can actually be very positive, however, if we know how to work with it. Saturn is at home in Capricorn; meaning that Saturn’s conjunction to Venus may center more around its positive traits, such as commitment, loyalty and reliability. This conjunction reminds us that relationships take effort, and while this can be scary, it helps solidify the relationships that matter most. Meanwhile, Pluto’s conjunction to Venus arouses feelings of passion and excitement. Our feelings for the other are intensified, making for especially good sex but also for true intimacy, which involves the soul, and not just the body. It’s a good moment to let your guard down and be vulnerable with your partner; don’t be afraid to show each other who you truly are.

The Sun in Sagittarius and the Full Moon in Gemini make a T-square to Neptune at 15'59 degrees Pisces. Neptune symbolizes cosmic consciousness, spirituality and oneness, all that is timeless and universal, but when negatively aspect-ed it could indicate delusion, lies and confusion. We may idealize people or situations, and we could be more susceptible to manipulation at this time. Since Gemini is the sign of the twins and a symbol for duality, we might alternate between feelings of extreme love and hate. We might alternate between feelings of idealization and devaluation, seeing our partner or love interest as this perfect being, our only soulmate and "twin flame", only to become disillusioned or even angry when we realize it was all a projection. Avoid thinking in absolutes.

Neptune's trine to Mars at 15'08 degrees Scorpio is our saving grace, guiding us to make the right decisions. We may be very intuitive in our decision-making, trusting out gut, knowing exactly what to do at the right moment, taking divinely-inspired action. This aspect helps us to make peace, heal wounds and amend conflict.

Conclusion

Coinciding with Venus's conjunction to Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn, December 2019's Full Moon in Gemini has a strong influence on all our relationships, especially our most intimate ones. Pluto indicates strength of passion, even obsession, while Saturn indicates blockages - whether internal or external. Because Gemini is a sign marked by its duality and mutability, we may experiences changes in our moods and desires, swinging back and forth between extremes of love and hate. This is further strengthened by the Full Moon's square to Neptune in Pisces, a planet associated with idealization and disillusionment. We'll benefit most from this Full Moon by living in the moment, trusting our instincts, and telling the truth to the people we love and value, rather than giving into the temptation to play games.
