Firey Full Moon In Aries on October 1

October opens with a Full Moon in Aries opposite the Libra Sun on the first of the month, setting the tone for the next few weeks. Aries energy values "me" while Libra favors "we." While the collective energies might be encouraging us to look for partnership, connection, pleasure, and ease (hello cuffing season), the full moon conjunct Chiron in Aries may highlight wounds to our psyche that aren't quite healed, or old wounds that are reopened by life circumstances, posing a difficult challenge to our ability to connect intimately with others.

The Sun has been opposite Chiron, the wounded healer, for a week already, and adding the moon to the mix on the first may prove intense, emotional, cathartic, and healing. If you've been having a rough week, hang in there, love. Sun opposite Chiron can be uncomfortable energy. Think self-criticism, self-hatred, being hard on yourself, beating yourself up over all of your past "mistakes," & feeling generally down on yourself. It may be a feeling of brokenness, fear, or despair that what seems broken or lost cannot be fixed or replaced.

As if that isn't heavy enough, we also have Mars rx in Aries squaring off with the collective supergiant stellium Pluto, Jupiter, and Saturn in Capricorn. This dynamic makes it feel like it's us alone against the world, and like the whole damn system is out to crush us. (Fr it might be tho.) This can feel like frustration, rejection, powerlessness, and anger.

Aries moon is an emotional moon. Express yourself. Allow for sweet release. Find a way to move your body. Aries rules physicality and the physical form. Do some training or exercise to channel some positive Mars rx and Aries energy. Mars will remain in this uncomfortable square with the outer planets for several more weeks so you might as well do what you can to get comfortable and work this energy.

Because Mars rx is involved, not only is the will of the individual vs the will of collective governance being examined, collective masculinity is also under scrutiny and is subject to being reworked. What does it mean to you to "be a man" or to "man up?" This transit encourages us to connect with and empower our healthy inner masculine energy, which can look like clear-headed rational thought, taking responsibility, taking initiative, confidence, bravery, boldness, directness, and feeling able to ask for what we want or need. We're being called to examine ways in which we have not been fully connecting with our masculine side, and to realize that we can integrate and embody these energies successfully in a way that is respectful and supportive of femininity and authentic to ourselves. Exploring the masculine will be an ongoing theme for the next 6 months until Mars leaves its sign of rulership Aries for earthy and stable Taurus. (Althogh the Taurus transit will prove difficult in its own ways when Mars meets up with Uranus who's busy reworking our relationship to the environment and natural world.)

The Sun in Libra shines the light on the Chiron wound with the moon activating our powerful emotions on the first, but Libra is an air planet, giving this energy a predisposition towards the mind. Make a gratitude list. Make a "fuck that" list. Then, make a goal list. Libra as an air sign can also be dualistic in nature, seeing the world exclusively through rose-colored glasses or seeing only all the bad in the world, or oscillating back and forth. Or stuck in one if imbalanced emotionally/physically/mentally.

To access the collective Libran energy, practice self-love. Libra is ruled by Venus the goddess of art, beauty & love. She blesses us as a collective as the sun moves through Libra's Venusian space. Just because you might not be making progress in the direction you'd like to right this second, feeling limited or powerless against the structures of the world, Mars trines the North Node, encouraging us to uphold the faith and belief in the reality that we are fighting to create for ourselves.
