Well, 2020 has been eventful, wouldn’t you agree? Putting reality aside for now; stepping into the Whoniverse, 2020 graced us with a brand-new series of Doctor Who with Jodie Whittaker as the Thirteenth Doctor. We can all agree that Series 12 was one big step up from Series 11, and that wasn’t because of all the twists and shocks.

Sacha Dhawan appeared as the Master, John Barrowman returned as Captain Jack Harkness, Gallifrey returned, and we got a new Doctor. The Timeless Child storyline went full on this year and shocked all fans when it was revealed the Timeless Child was in fact the Doctor. Whilst the Series 12 finale was explosive (literally), it’s clear there’s more to that plot to be carried into Series 13. Now we’re in the final quarter of 2020, it appears Whittaker is back out on location for Doctor Who as an eager fan claims to have spotted Whittaker filming.

Posting on Twitter, the Doctor Who fan said:

“On a evening walk and Doctor Who filming down the road!”

The tweeter – who has now gone private – revealed that the Doctor (Whittaker) was on set/location having a “screaming match argument” for a scene with another mystery actor. The scene was also described as an emotional scene with “lots of shouting”.

The eyewitness continued to describe the scene that was filming in Leckwith Woods in Wales, to have “bright flashing lights” that involved a car.

Unfortunately, that’s all we know so far. Even though it’s not actually clear whether or not this is Doctor Who, it’s more than likely. Cardiff is currently on local lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic, so fans are told NOT to go and watch filming if they discover it is close to them.

With Series 13 back filming, could this mystery actor be a new companion? It’s heavily rumoured that Bradley Walsh and Tosin Cole will be exiting their roles as Graham and Ryan in the upcoming special titled “Revolution of the Daleks”, but is yet to be confirmed.

According to sources, two of the three companions will be departing the TARDIS this year after landing new roles, leaving just Whittaker and Mandip Gill, unless someone else is invited to step into the box. With an episode yet to air, it’s unclear on Bradley and Ryan’s fate. Will it be open ended? Will it be gruesome? However, RadioTimes reported that it “may be an open-ended departure, with Cole and Walsh still possibly continuing to make sporadic appearances” even though they won’t form the main cast anymore. There’s a lot of speculation on who could become new companions, but it appears Barrowman is a fan favourite.

John Barrowman returned as Captain Jack for the first time since 2010 when David Tennant’s 10th Doctor said his goodbyes. Barrowman shocked fans with a surprise appearance in “Fugitive of the Judoon”, which in itself was a ground-breaking episode because of its shocks and surprises.

It is now believed that Barrowman will be returning to star in the show once again in “Revolution of the Daleks”. The actor was spotted in the background of a video, featuring Whittaker and Gill participating in a competition for a series of behind-the-scenes clips. Barrowman can also be heard in the background cheering on Whittaker.

The scenes featuring Jack in “Fugitive of the Judoon” took place in Bristol, not Cardiff where this video was filmed. So, it’s likely this behind-the-scenes film was recorded during the filming of “Revolution of the Daleks”. We’ve seen Jack as a full-time companion in the past, where he was first introduced in 2005, alongside Christopher Eccleston. Let’s be honest, Jack becoming a full-time companion in Series 13 would be a dream come true for so many fans.

What happens in the upcoming special remains tight-lipped for now, so it remains unclear how Jack ties into the episode and if he will replace Bradley and Tosin. For now, we sit tight and await those important details.
