Could 'Star Wars' Be In The Next 'Kingdom Hearts' Game?

The Makings Of A Beautiful Friendship

Star Wars in the realm of Kingdom Hearts?

The Kingdom Hearts game series is about to get another expansive moment in its history with the introduction of Kingdom Hearts IV. This will continue the franchise from where we last left off in Kingdom Hearts III. Fans will be able to continue to follow the events of our main character Sora as he continues his adventures to fight the Forces of Darkness and hopefully get back to his friends Riku and Kairi.

In Kingdom Hearts, one goes from world to world - each level is based on different IP properties, most if not all of them owned by Disney. However, as of the last game, instead of the classic Disney world based on classic Disney movies, Kingdom Hearts began to expand its worldview a bit by leaping into the world of Pixar. Going to worlds based on Toy Story and Monster Inc.

However, now Disney has expanded their IP collection exponentially. So could we see Kingdom Hearts grow to Marvel's world and the world of Galaxy Far, Far Away, that is Star Wars? Many believe this is possible because one image from the initial Kingdom Hearts IV reveal trailer showed a lush forest area where a piece of metal possibly belonged to an AT-ST walker.

This raises the question. Is Star Wars in Kingdom Hearts IV expanding the Universe of Kingdom Hearts?

The Kingdom Hearts games started off so simple.

Disney meets Anime. That was the mission statement that was the goal. However, as the franchise continued, so did the amount it expanded into other Disney IPs like Pixar. So it would make sense to eventually grow into the realms of Marvel and Star Wars.

The world of Star Wars would make for quite a unique setting in the Kingdom Hearts series. In many ways, this franchise is heavily inspired by the space opera, with both having a central character that is very Luke Skywalker-like in nature, battling the evils of the universe and going on his own hero's journey.

So it would be interesting to see Sora, our main hero here, meet Luke Skywalker and perhaps even have the two exchange stories with one another of tales of heroism and fighting evil. That would make some excellent character interaction. Using the Keyblade that takes the form of a lightsaber to fight both Heartless and Stormtroopers.

Since there was a forest-looking area, perhaps Sora appears during the events of the Battle of Endor and helps take down the Empire. That would certainly be quite the feat in terms of his heroism, apart from the many times of saving the universe. Plus, with the update in graphics, it would be intriguing to see how Star Wars and Kingdom Hearts mix.

The Future Of Kingdom Hearts And Beyond

Really it is hard to say if Disney will allow Star Wars in Kingdom Hearts. It took a while for Pixar to finally join the video game franchise, plus it seems that the story will be focusing on making original content as well. Especially with the new original worlds, they are creating for the series.

However, Kingdom Hearts is used to display some of its various properties to those who may not watch Disney movies in the form of video games. So it could be many kids' introduction to the Star Wars franchise.

It would be fun to see the realm of Kingdom Hearts and the realm of the Galaxy Far, Far Away cross paths. Time will tell if that will happen. As the wise Jedi Master Yoda once said, always in motion the future is.
