So I think it's safe to assume by now that pretty much every Star Wars fan has the events of Episode III: Revenge of the Sith engraved in their memories. It was such a turning point in the entire saga, ending with the beginning of the Empire and annihilation of the Jedi. However, there was a species introduced, very briefly, which would become a very important part of the animated series Rebels, who have quite an interesting reason for looking like they do.

The original Star Wars movie premiered on May 25, 1977. In November of 1976, I picked up a new science fiction novel called “Star Wars: From the Adventures of Luke Skywalker” by George Lucas. I did not know at the time that it was ghost-written by Alan Dean Foster, a popular sci-fi writer.

Part of what endears any good story to us as an audience is the escapism. Losing oneself for the length of a novel or for a couple hours in a movie theater and immersing onself in a completely different world than our own. What Star Wars fan hasn't wielded a stick or carboard tube as a lightsaber? Or longed to jump into hyperspace to a far off planet while stuck in traffic? It's long been said that, with its signature whimsy, Star Wars is for the child in all of us, full of imagination, joy, and wonder. However, Disney may have taken the idea of visiting a galaxy far, far away a little too far with their new resort experience. Several shocking new details have emerged regarding their Star Wars themed resort hotel, and we're not simply talking about the price tag.

Culture SlatePublished 3 years ago in FuturismThis is The Way: An Argument for Romani Representation in Live-Action StarWars Projects.
On May 1st, I posted a StarWars fan-cast idea on my Instagram page to see how some of my followers would react. The casting idea I had in my was for Sabine Wren, one of the main protagonists of the 2015 animated series StarWars: Rebels. The casting choice I had in mind for Sabine was a Spanish-Roma actress named Hiba Abouk. This resulted from a head canon that believed she was of Roma or Southwest Asian origin. In addition, Ms. Abouk herself coming very to resembling a live-action version of the animated character, and I even tagged both Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni’s Instagram pages hoping they could take Hiba into consideration.

When the first Star Wars film, A New Hope, was released back in 1977, it was pretty obvious from the beginning who were the bad guys and who were the good guys, right? Well, thanks to the longevity of Star Wars and the thousands of related media released since the original, we start to get a deeper look at each side's motivations for their actions. Thanks to the likes of the prequel trilogy, the newer TV shows, and other media, we start to see that it's not so black and white as we once thought.

One of the most surprising storylines of the new sequel series is when fans discovers that Palpatine has survived his fall down the shaft in the Second Death Star in Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi. The reveal shatters some of the previous storylines and character decisions from the original and prequel trilogies, and television series, as well as books and comics that are still canon. And now, Star Wars had officially retconned Darth Vader’s decision to kill Emperor Palpatine in the recent issue of Marvel's Star Wars: Darth Vader (2020).

The opening crawl of Episode III – Revenge of the Sith states: "There are heroes on both sides. Evil is everywhere." As we all know, evil eventually succeeded, with most of the Jedi dead and the rest gone into hiding, the Republic replaced by an Empire, Padme dead, and Anakin Skywalker turned into Darth Vader. But even before that, most of the prequel trilogy was basically a tragedy, with the Jedi unable to sense the eminent danger of the dark side all around them and a galaxy torn apart by war.
