On January 18th, 2022, after transiting the signs of Gemini and Sagittarius since May 2021, the North and South Node of the Moon moved into the signs of Taurus and Scorpio respectively. They will stay there until July 2023. Here's what to expect, both in general and for your sign.

What Exactly ARE the Nodes?

The nodes are mathematically points at which the orbit of the Moon intersects with the ecliptic. The North Node is where the Moon moves into the northern ecliptic hemisphere while the South Node is where the Moon moves into the southern ecliptic hemisphere. They are always in opposite signs of the zodiac.

Astrologically, these points represent our karma and destiny. The South Node is believed to represent your "karma", or in other words, the things you're familiar with, where you're coming from and what you need to let go of. The North Node is believed to represent your "destiny," or in other words, the things you are unfamiliar with, where you are going and what you need to grow. They are often associated with reincarnation and past lives, although you don't necessarily have to belief in these things in order to see their effect. The Nodes are very spiritual points representing your life's purpose and a lot can be gleaned about a person's path, just from looking at these two points alone.

North Node in Taurus, South Node in Scorpio

Taurus is the sign of the bull, a fixed earth sign ruled by the lovely planet Venus. Because it's the second sign for the Sun to pass through after the Vernal (or Spring) Equinox, it is associated with the season's beauty and agricultural abundance. In fact, bulls were used for the very purpose of ploughing the fields, so they could bear crops. Taurus is hard-working, tenacious and some would say stubborn in pursuit of its goals. However, it is perhaps even more important that Taurus gets to enjoy the fruits of its labor. This sign often gets associated with sensuality, materialism, and an appreciation for the simple everyday pleasures that make life beautiful. Ruled by a benefic, this sign is not one for conflict. Instead, the North Node in Taurus brings us stability, security, and a firm foundation onto which we can plant the seeds of creativity.

Scorpio, on the other hand, is a sensitive water sign ruled by the more abrasive planet, Mars. The Sun passes through this sign in the middle of Autumn, around Halloween and All Saints Day, when the veil between this world and the next is believed to be at its most thin. Scorpio is a deep diver. Never content with what's on the surface, it is a sign associated with mystery and even secrecy. While Scorpio is often praised by the astrological community for its strong intuition (and rightly so!), we do have to remember that scorpions are predatory animals and at its most lowest, Scorpio can perceive the world as one giant power struggle where only the strongest survive, it's omissions being used for more than just self-preservation but for cunning and harm. This is not at all to say that Scorpio is a negative sign, but with the South Node involved, it's important to keep the shadow side in mind.

Travel decreased when the South Node was in Sagittarius, along with our faith in big institutions. The lack of face to face contact that occurred while the North Node was in Gemini taught us how to communicate better, with words and punctuation alone. There was a greater dependence on the local community, and with the North Node in Taurus, we may see something similar. Taurus, after all, in contrast to Scorpio's desire to merge with the other, is a sign characterized by self-sufficiency. However, I think it is even more likely that with the South Node in Scorpio, we'll be moving away from all the crisis and loss that characterized the last two years, and towards re-building the foundations of a functional society.

With fine-tuned senses, it is particularly important for Taurus to live in a comfortable environment, and globally, this North Node transit might indicate a greater push towards building a society that meets everyone's basic needs i.e. food, shelter, no more struggling just to survive. The South Node in Mars-ruled Scorpio suggests a move away from the painful competition for resources that characterizes our current economy. Furthermore, there might (hopefully) be a greater and more urgent concern for the environment. Uranus, the bringer of change, is in Taurus, as well, and worst case scenario, could force us into being more concerned through natural disasters and such. However, Uranus in Taurus might also indicate the invention of revolutionary technologies that can help us to build a more sustainable future. On the downside, there might be a more of an intense push for the acceptance of more materialist philosophies, especially given that spiritualist trends have (fairly or unfairly) been linked by the media to a rise in conspiracy theory culture. I mention this because I already see it happening with META's new rules for spiritual content creators and I think there may be a link.

On a more personal level, this transit could bring psychological healing i.e. Scorpio energy, in its "unevolved" (so to speak) form can be on guard to the point of paranoia, insecure, jealous, and suspicious of other's motives. This mirrors the psychological state of many people today - regardless of what zodiac sign/s we were born under. As the North Node enters Taurus, a more relaxed sign, we may learn how to take-it-easy a little bit. Perhaps, we don't need to read into things all the time, after all. Sometimes, we can take things at face value. In other words, this transit might help us to gain some security in our own self-esteem and not look to others for validation or read deeply into their reactions. As someone born with nodes in the reverse position, this is something I know a lot about, and you can subscribe to my Patreon for a more in-depth and personal take on this transit.

Horoscopes

Now it's time to see how it will affect your sign. I suggest reading the horoscope for your ascendant or rising sign, first, instead of the sun. I find the rising sign horoscope to be more accurate than the sun, as these horoscopes are based on the houses. If you don't know your rising sign, click here to generate a birth chart. Yes, you will need your birth time for this. If you don't have your birth time, Sun sign horoscopes are the next best thing. However, these are general readings. If you want to know more about how this transit will affect your chart personally, please book an appointment with me here (I am now available! when previously I was not).

Those of you with angles, planets or the North and South Node in the fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius) will be most especially affected by this transit.

Aries Rising or Sun

Looks like you're on the road to financial stability, Aries! This isn't necessarily to say that you'll reach your destination any time soon. Perhaps, you still have some issues with impulsive spending that you need to work out, but you may be learning the hard way that you cannot rely on people for help every time the money runs out. A Scorpio South Node in the 8th house, the house of "other people's money," can point to taxes and debts. This need not necessarily be taken literally, however. Perhaps, you are learning that depending on other people means having to pay them back, and if you can't do that, well, a Taurus North Node in the 2nd house of income and resources tells you that sometimes, you're better off relying on yourself. On an alternative note, this transit may also be about learning to be happy with what you have rather than hungry for more, more, more.

Taurus Rising or Sun

Being strong-willed means you don't do things half-way, Taurus. You want your partner to be a "ride or die," and your relationships tend to be "all or nothing." While your loyalty is admirable, sometimes such desires lead to nothing but disappointment and pain, and if you obsess over your partner too much, it often only leads to instability. A Scorpio South Node in the 7th house of partnership forces you to come face to face with these relational difficulties. The question is, are you ready to heal from them or are you addicted to the crisis? In any case, with the North Node in the 1st house, your sign, you are learning that true stability comes from within and that no amount of validation from others, however nice it may be to hear in the moment, will help if you have not formed a core of healthy self-esteem and self-love that allows you to stand your ground.

Gemini Rising or Sun

You may be the king/queen/*insert gender neutral variant of the word* of multi-tasking, Gemini, but sometimes you just need a break. With a Scorpio South Node in the 6th house of disease & routine, you may feel tired and worn out, like you can't keep up any longer. A Taurus North Node in the 12th house of self-undoing will ask you to take a deep breath and remain in your body, because too much time living in your head can lead to an unnecessary amount of emotional pain. You may have a wide circle of friends, and feel pressure to meet their demands, but it is important to take time to take care of your own needs. Cultivating a firm, steady and consistent spiritual practice can help you to respond better to the stressors of daily life.

Cancer Rising or Sun

Close relationships are important to you, Cancer, but at times, you can be self-involved. With a Scorpio South Node in your 5th house of fun, children & creativity, it's possible that lately, you've been so consumed with your own interests and hobbies that you've forgotten about everybody else. The Taurus North Node's transit through your 11th house of friendship is asking you to be more reliable in showing up for the people you care about. This transit is all about the creation of stable friendships, friendships that last.

Leo Rising or Sun

Have family problems been getting you down, Leo? If you were born into challenging circumstances or if anyone, especially the people who brought you up, made you feel that you couldn't accomplish anything, now is the time to prove them wrong. The Scorpio South Node's transit through your 4th house of the home will help you purge any serious emotional issues that have been plaguing your private life. After all, the personal affects how we interact with others in the social world, and negative messages internalized in childhood (or even now) can sometimes deter us from success. If everything goes well, the Taurus North Node's transit through your 10th house of career will help you to establish your firm footing in the world of work, hopefully leading you to material stability and comfort.

Virgo Rising or Sun

Let's face it, Virgo: you can be pedantic at times. Not only that but your criticism of others can be quite intense! With Scorpio South Node in your 3rd house of communication, such interactions may be affected by your quality of life, or perhaps, it's other people who are spreading lies and keeping secrets. In any case, try not to obsess so much over what other people do and say. The North Node in Taurus is transiting your 9th house of philosophy, education & travel, suggesting that it might help, instead, to direct that obsessive energy into something more productive. Developing an organized spiritual routine, for example, may help direct your attention away from petty gossip.

Libra Rising or Sun

Ruled by the planet of beauty, you certainly enjoy living in luxury, Libra. However, lately, money might be a stressor. With a Scorpio South Node in the 2nd house of finances, you may find yourself wanting more and more things or on the other hand, desperately struggling just to survive. You may feel like you can't do it all on your own and the Taurus North Node in the 8th house of 'other people's resources,' suggests that you might benefit from putting your faith in others. This transit might also indicate learning how to stand on your own two feet again after experiencing a loss.

Scorpio Rising or Sun

Intensity of feeling may look romantic on paper but in practice, it can often be a detriment to your relationships, Scorpio. Jealousy, possessiveness, and the desire for control are not rooted in genuine love (i.e. care and empathy) but from a place of selfish. This definitely is not to say that feeling jealous from time to time or wanting your partner all to yourself means you don't really love them... I have Venus in Scorpio, myself, so I am aware that it is only natural! But when you let such feelings dictate your behavior, it can get in the way of maintaining the type of stable relationship that you so crave. The South Node's transit through your sign or 1st house is asking you to take a look at the patterns you've formed from your past. If you are able to heal from these internal insecurities, the Taurus North Node in the 7th house of relationships will likely bring you the commitment and consistency that you seek in love.

Sagittarius Rising or Sun

You are known to be the master of philosophy, Sagittarius, but sometimes, you become so wrapped up in the mysterious of life that you neglect to focus on the tasks at hand. With the Scorpio South Node in your 12th house of self-undoing, your lack of attention to detail may reveal itself to be a problem within the coming months. Perhaps, keeping secrets leads you down into a deeper depression. The Taurus North Node in your 6th house of health and hygiene is asking you to focus. Develop a stable routine, work hard and pay attention to those daily tasks, because neglecting them will not make your mental healthy any better.

Capricorn Rising or Sun

Climbing up the ladder is hard, Capricorn, and lately, you may be feeling like you don't have the social capital needed to succeed. With the South Node in Scorpio transiting your 11th house of friends, it looks like the people around you might be behaving in competitive, exclusive and all around shady ways. Try to take a break from this, and focus on the things that you like doing for yourself. Often you don't let yourself have fun, but the Taurus North Node is asking you to create some art, make some crafts, and most importantly, engage in the simple pleasures that make life worth living.

Aquarius Rising or Sun

I know you often strive to stand out, Aquarius, but doesn't competition get exhausting? The Scorpio South Node's transit through your 10th house career suggests that jealousy, rivalries, secrets and/or power struggles in the workplace may be bringing you down. Perhaps it's time to take a break and focus on what's truly important, making time for family and rest. The Taurus North Node's transit through your 4th house of the home indicates that it's time to build a foundation and settle down, or at the very least, create a beautiful and comfortable environment to come home to. Planting roots to come back to will make it easier to go back out there in the long run.

Pisces Rising or Sun

Kindness is a virtue, Pisces, but sometimes, you have to be honest, even if it hurts. This isn't to say that you mean to lie. You're a spiritual person, a lover of the ethereal and abstract, too focused on the bigger picture to pay much attention to the details of what you hear and say. Unfortunately, the Scorpio South Node's transit through your 9th house of faith and belief shows that this love of mysterious may sometimes put you at risk of developing paranoid ideologies characterized by black-and-white or us-vs-them thinking. The Taurus North Node in the 3rd house of communication is asking you to speak plainly. Say what you mean and mean what you say, and know that some information can be taken at face value. Not everything that happens is part of some vast conspiracy.

Vladimir Kush

Conclusion

In short, the North Node's transit through the sign of Taurus will help steer us away from the instability that has characterized the last two years. There may be less chaos and competition in our lives as we move towards a sort of peace, re-building the structure that was lost to us, providing us with the resources needed to survive. Since Taurus is an Earth sign ruled by Venus, hopefully this will mean a renewed attention to the environment. In any case, there will be a renewed attention to beauty, the beauty of nature and the beauty of creativity, a happier and more pleasurable time indeed.
