Ascending to Greater Heights: How Jupiter in Capricorn Will Affect Your Sign

On Monday, December 2nd, 2019, Jupiter left its ruling sign of Sagittarius where it had been since November 8th, 2018, and entered the sign of Capricorn, where it will stay until December 19th, 2020. Here's how you can expect it to affect your sign!

The horoscopes, though, are the most fun, if not the most important, part of the article so don't forget to read your own at the very least!

Jupiter in Capricorn

Known to astrologers as the "Great Benefic," Jupiter is the planet of luck and abundance. It is boundless and expansive. Naturally at home in the signs of Sagittarius and Pisces, Jupiter is also the planet of wisdom, travel and higher education. It is associated with philosophy, religion, spirituality, and values such as freedom, liberation & truth. The sign and house placement of Jupiter in a natal chart will not only tell you about a person's destiny and where they will find luck, but it will also tell you a little bit about their personal philosophy, their outlook on right & wrong, and how they acquire knowledge.

Traditionally, Jupiter is uncomfortable in the sign of Capricorn, considered to be the sign of its fall. Capricorn is the sign of the goat, a cardinal, earth sign ruled by Saturn, known to astrologers as the "Great Malefic," virtually the opposite of what Jupiter represents. Where Jupiter brings faith, Saturn brings doubt. Where Jupiter brings opportunity, Saturn brings blockages. Where Jupiter brings abundance, Saturn brings scarcity. Where Jupiter brings joy, Saturn brings depression. Where Jupiter brings freedom, Saturn brings restriction.

For some of us, Jupiter in Capricorn might limit our perspective, especially if it makes unfavorable aspects to planets in our natal chart. Jupiter in Sagittarius helped many of us make our dreams a reality, but Jupiter in Capricorn might make us wonder if it really was just all a dream after all. We may begin to doubt whether the opportunities brought on by Jupiter in Sagittarius are really possible. While Jupiter in Sagittarius brought us to unspeakable heights, Jupiter in Capricorn brings us back down to earth. It isn't all bad, however. So long as we don't lose the optimism of Jupiter in Sagittarius, we can use Jupiter in Capricorn's realism to help us achieve the dreams Jupiter's transit through Sagittarius merely gave us a taste of. While Jupiter in Sagittarius opened up our eyes to what could be, Jupiter in Capricorn will help motivate us to take the practical, sometimes painful, steps necessary to get there.

Really, Jupiter brings good luck, no matter where it is located. In the sign of Capricorn, Jupiter brings good luck to areas of career and finance. If making good aspects to our charts, it will bring us an abundance of wealth and money. It can also bring an increase in social status and reputation. It can even bring fame!

People born with Jupiter in Capricorn in their natal charts are often very ambitious, career-orientated individuals, through the rest of their charts, especially the Midheaven, tell us more about what type of ambitions they aspire too. When Jupiter is transiting through Capricorn, we may all be very ambitious. All of us have dreams but not all of us are willing to work for them. Or should I say, not all of us know how to work for them. We may have so many great ideas that we don't even know where to start! Jupiter in Capricorn brings with it an increase in our organizational skills, our time management and our executive functioning. It helps us achieve our dreams, by increasing our work ethic, and giving us a greater dose of reality, and by slowing us down, helping us take all the necessary steps to achieve our ambitions.

Jupiter's transit through Capricorn might make us hyper-aware of what people think of us, how we appear to the public. It might also bring us a greater awareness of our own mortality: what kind of legacy do we want to be leaving? What is our live's mission? What did we come here to do, and how do we achieve it? What do we need to complete here on Earth in order to make our presence here a meaningful one? What kind of mark do we want to leave on the world?

Those with personal planets or angles in Capricorn, Taurus or Virgo will most strongly benefit from this transit while those with personal planets or angles in Aries, Cancer or Libra are more likely to struggle.

Aspects

Jupiter in Capricorn will make a ton of aspects throughout the year. I will list them all, month-by-month, along with a short description. They may or may not affect you personally, depending on whether or not and how they aspect the planets and angles in your natal chart.

In December, Jupiter will trine Uranus in Taurus midway through the month, on December 15th, bringing us unexpected opportunities, especially in regards to career and finance. Meanwhile, on December 27th, just two days after Christmas, Jupiter will conjunct the Sun at 5 degrees Capricorn. This is considered to be the luckiest day of the year, bringing us a healthy sense of joy, good fortune and gratitude.

The first month of 2020 starts out with a conjunction between Jupiter and Mercury at 7 degrees on January 2nd. Communication is favored, and so is manifestation, as we become more aware of the power of positive thinking. Later in the month, on the 23rd, Jupiter will sextile Venus in Pisces, bringing us a healthy and happy sense of love and romance. Venus is exalted in Pisces so this is an especially good night to schedule a date.

On February 20th, Jupiter will sextile Neptune at 17 degrees Pisces, heightening our sense of spirituality and purpose. Just three days later, Jupiter will square Venus at 18 degrees Aries, sign of its detriment. Be careful not to rush into a relationship too soon, expect too much from your loved ones, or make any hasty decisions that threaten existing relationships.

March 2020 will begin on a happy note, with Jupiter making a sextile to the Sun at 21 degrees Pisces on March 11th. On March 27th, Jupiter will trine Venus in Taurus at 23 degrees. Venus is at home in Taurus, making it an especially good day for love, romance, a good date night and also anything related to beauty, fashion, or art.

On April 4th, Jupiter will conjunct Pluto in at 24 degrees Capricorn. This is probably the most important aspect Jupiter will make during its transit through Capricorn. Expect an article on it to come. On the 27th, Jupiter will sextile Mercury at 25 degrees Pisces, benefiting communication and thought.

On May 10th, Mercury in Taurus will trine Jupiter at 27 degrees Capricorn, benefiting communication and thought, followed by a trine from the Sun in Taurus only a week later. On May 14th, Jupiter will station Retrograde at 27 degrees. Expect an article on that to come, detailing how Jupiter's transit Retrograde will affect each of the 12 signs.

On June 20th, Jupiter will sextile Mars in Pisces, benefiting action of all kinds (sports, sex, etc.) and potentially pacifying war and conflict. On the 29th, Jupiter will conjunct Pluto once again - this time at 24 degrees.

On July 14th, Jupiter will oppose the Sun in Cancer at 22 degrees. This could either bring mania, with many of us being too optimistic and over-doing things, or depression, as many of us are out of touch with the faith and blessings symbolized by Jupiter. Later that month, on the 27th, Jupiter will sextile Neptune once again, and on the 30th, opposing Mercury at 20 degrees Cancer. This could bring miscommunication and errors in thought, particularly in regards to being too emotional, and making assumptions about the emotions of others that may or may not be true.

On August 4th, Jupiter will square Mars at 19 degrees Aries. Since Mars rules the sign of Aries, this could bring an increase in war, conflict and impulsive behavior. On August 25th, Jupiter will oppose Venus at 17 degrees Cancer: avoid falling in love too fast and viewing people with rose-colored glasses. On August 29th, Jupiter will trine Mercury at 17 degrees Virgo. Mercury rules Virgo, giving us an increase in logic, lucidity, ideas, intellect and clear-headedness, as well as benefiting all communication.

September 9th will be a lucky and positive day, with Jupiter in Retrograde making a trine to the Sun at 17 degrees Virgo. On September 17th, Jupiter will finally go direct at 17 degrees. More on that will be discussed in my Jupiter Retrograde article to come.

On October 19th Jupiter will trine Venus at 19 degrees Virgo, making it a good day for romance.

Jupiter will conjunct Pluto once more at 22 degrees on November 12th. On November 14th, it will sextile the Sun at 23 degrees Scorpio, bringing us a dose of good luck and a boost of self-esteem. Just one day later, however, it will square Venus in Libra, the sign that it rules, potentially creating disharmony in relationships, possibly as a result of indecision or over-idealization... flirting too much, perhaps, too much of a good thing, and hurting the one you really love and care for as a result? Jupiter will sextile Mercury at 25 degrees Scorpio on the 28th, benefiting our minds and our communication with others.

In December, Jupiter will leave Capricorn and enter the sign of Aquarius, where it will make a Great Conjunction to Saturn on the 2020 Winter Solstice. This is major: expect an article on that to come.

Horoscopes

Now it's time to see how it will affect your sign. Aries

You are a go-getter, Aries, but sometimes your impulsivity can get the way of achieving your goals. Fear no more. Jupiter in your 10th house will bring benefits to your career and help to increase your social standing. You may be more considerate of your place in the world around you than usual but this is a good thing, helping you to accomplish your professional ambitions. Your reputation will increase, as you finally reap the rewards you deserve!

There might also be an increase in money. However, Jupiter will oppose Cancer planets in your 4th house in July could brings issues balancing work with home. It's still a long way away, but remember to be mindful not to let this newfound luck in the workplace interfere with your obligations to your family or intimate relationships.

Taurus

As a Taurus, you are known for being quite stubborn and stuck in your ways, a creature of habit. Jupiter in Capricorn, however, will be transiting your 9th house, doing much to open your mind, potentially shaking up your worldview - for the better. You might go back to school to learn a new subject, or engage in some sort of research project. You could also take a journey abroad, or take the vacation of your dreams, whatever that may be. You're acquiring a lot of new knowledge this year, Taurus, and may even receive some sort of cultural shock, but it's exciting and in the end, it will only serve to change your life for the better.

March and May are especially good times, and maybe November as well. With Jupiter trine Venus in your sign this March & Jupiter aspecting planets in your 7th house later in November, you can expect this transit to bring you out of your shell and you may even meet a new love contact.

Gemini

It looks like a lot of things are in store for you, Gemini! Jupiter in your 8th house can be scary as it brings a greater awareness of your own mortality, but with it, a greater sense of time, responsibility and an awareness of all the things you need to accomplish. As a Gemini, your energy is often scattered - sooo many ideas but no real focus. Use this newfound awareness to hone in on the things you really care about and work on them!

The 8th house not only rules death, however, but also other people's resources. You may receive an inheritance, or you could be loaned or gifted a wide some of money. Financially, you are all taken care of! Don't forget - "Other people's resources" could also mean sex as well! So, you could also expect it to benefit your sex life; trying new things, kinking things up up a bit more, you could be in for a freaky 12 months!

Cancer

With Jupiter in your opposite sign, relationships are the focus. You could meet the love of your dreams. Casual connections could become committed, and you might even get married! If entering into a new relationship, there could be an age difference. This person could be very older, or maybe just be an old soul, or they could be very younger. Even more likely, this person could be very rich, accomplished, or powerful in some way. If already married, Jupiter's transit through Capricorn, will still put you in touch with a whole lot of new amazing people, who will contribute something to your live's journey; new friends and spiritual connections, and your relationship with your partner will be very harmonious, perhaps spending more time together than usual. A new business partnership is very likely, whether with your partner or someone else. You're being brought in touch with people with like-minds, people with opposite but complimentary qualities, who can come together with you to create a new product or project that will be very successful and fruitful.

While Jupiter's transit through Capricorn will mostly be very positive for you, Cancer, in July & early August, Jupiter will oppose multiple planets in your sign. When this happens, just make sure not to hyper-focus so much on others than you forget to take care of yourself. March & June are especially good months to take a break from all the stresses in life and travel somewhere, perhaps a romantic getaway, as Jupiter will be making positive aspects to planets in your 9th house. November, on the other hand, is an especially good month for romance and partnerships built on creativity, as Jupiter will be aspecting planets in your 5th house.

Leo

You're used to having fun and being the life of the party, Leo, but all play and no work won't get you very far. Jupiter in Capricorn will give you a positive change in routine and the structure needed in life to help you succeed. Jupiter is transiting through your 6th house, which rules over daily habits, meaning it's a great time to reorganize your life and change your daily schedule in a way that is conductive to your success.

The 6th house also rules health and wellness. Jupiter's transit through Capricorn will not only improve your health, but you may also take a greater interest in subjects like diet, exercise and healing, psychological and spiritual as well as physical.

Virgo

As a Virgo, you are used to being busy, overworking yourself but with Jupiter in your 5th house, you're going to be busy in a way that lets your hair down and have fun. Jupiter your 5th house makes for a very fruitful and productive year. It's very likely you'll be giving birth to new projects, as your creativity is off the charts. This is an especially beneficial transit if you're an artist of some kind. You might even be giving birth to a new baby (the 5th house also rules children). But you're productive in a way that also allows time for you to engage in your favorite activities and interests, and develop new hobbies along the way.

September & October are especially productive, and lucky months, with Jupiter making trines to planets in your sign. If you're planning on travelling, May is a good month, maybe even March as well (especially if you're planning on a romantic getaway) while June's 7th house focus could also bring potential benefits to your love life.

Libra

Libra, you love to go out into the world and socialize, but Jupiter's transit through your 4th house will likely have you spending more time at home. This isn't a bad thing, as you'll be spending more time with the ones you love, whether that be with your partner, your children, siblings or your mom and dad. It's a good transit for spending quality time with your family and the people you care about, especially if you're a social butterfly, a busy bee, and you don't always get to. Jupiter's transit through Capricorn could also have you relocating into your dream home or redecorating the one you have for the better.

While this transit is mostly positive, in November, it will square Venus in your sign; be sure to consider other people's feelings (especially your family and the people you care about) as well as your own and everything should be okay. The same could be said of August, when it will square Mars in your 7th house: be sure to compromise, and not be my-way-or-the-highway, but also be assure to assertive yourself when you need to. July could bring pressures in regards to career. Don't let it affect what truly matters: your family and loved ones!

Scorpio

Scorpio, you're known to be an introverted, but Jupiter's transit through Capricorn is going to help you come out of your shell! With Jupiter in your 3rd house of communication, you can expect to be doing a lot more socializing than usual, meeting like-minded people. You may be attending a lot of parties, or you might join a club relating to an interest you have. Don't forget; the 3rd house also rules short journeys, so you could be doing a lot of traveling over the upcoming year. If you feel you're too quiet or suffer from some sort of social anxiety (or a related disorder) you can expect Jupiter's transit through Capricorn to help you overcome that. You might also decide to start a journal, or if you're a writer, a new novel or book or something. If you're still in school or involved in some sort of research project, Jupiter's transit through Capricorn can help you with that as well.

November will be an especially lucky month for you, Scorpio. Your confidence is showing, and you're able to put yourself out there and speak your mind with ease. Aspects to planets in your 11th house, in late January, mid March and early June will help you to make good friends, while aspects to planets in your 7th house during the months of March and May are especially good for more intimate connections, and deepening the friendships you already have.

Sagittarius

Lucky you, Sagittarius! With Jupiter in your 2nd house, of money and assets, it looks like you're going to be in for an abundance of cash flow! Just make sure to resist your tendency to over-spend. It pays off to be generous with our money and give, but hold back on the impulse to spend money on things that you're just going to throw away a week after you buy it.

Expect the most benefits, during the months of August & September of next year, as Jupiter will be making a trine to planets in your 10th house of career. You may receive a promotion, or a new and exciting job or gig, and make money that way. Meanwhile, the early months of 2020, especially March (but Jan, Feb and May as well) will be a good time for the home. Use your money up, on quality time with family & loved ones. A family vacation or other outing may be a good thing to spend it on, or lend it to a loved one in need.

Capricorn

You are the Queen of Saturn, Capricorn! Known for being an Ice Queen (or King, or Person, you get the picture) you can definitely intimidate some, and at times, inspire jealousy or rub people the wrong way. But with Jupiter in your sign, things are changing. Your demeanor is friendlier than usually, and people are responding well to you. Use it to your advantage! You are known for being the queen of obligation and responsibility, but it's about time you let your hair down and have fun. It's about time for you to come out of your shell, take a break from work, and put yourself out there! You attract the most opportunity, and the luckiest situations, by being in the present moment and displaying an attitude of friendliness, optimism and generosity.

July is an especially good month for your love life, while November is a good time for making new friends. You are more social than usual. Use it to your advantage.

Aquarius

You are known for being a social butterfly, a social activist, and a champion for the underdog. But all that work for the greater good can often be tiring, can't it Aquarius? With Jupiter transiting your 12th house, it is about time for you to focus on you and your own self-care. Because what good are we really bringing into the world if we haven't even healed the demons within? You'll benefit most this year from spending more time with yourself, alone in nature, getting in touch with your innermost being. Who are you really? What is your purpose here? It's a good time to reflect on these questions, over the next 12 months.

July is an especially good time for healing, your body as well as your soul, as Jupiter will be making aspects to your 6th house. You may be overwhelmed at this points, so it's essential you make this summer a time for self-care. Towards the end of the year, in November, Jupiter will be making aspects to planets in your 10th house, making it a good time for you to finally put yourself back out there, and use what you learned by going within to benefit the world around you.

Pisces

It looks like 2020s going to be a very social year for you, Pisces! Jupiter will be in your 11th house, of friends and social contacts. It looks like you'll be meeting a lot of new people, new friends with like-minds and similar values. It's a good time to join a club or get involved in an organization. You're a compassionate person, Pisces, known for your heart of gold! Why not put your empathy into action by jumping on board with a political cause? You attract opportunity by socializing and displaying attitudes of friendliness and generosity. Perhaps, you'll find new and exciting opportunities (whether related to work, love, travel etc.) through friends!

This year, Jupiter will be making quite a few aspects to your sign! In January, it will be making a sextile to Venus in your sign, making it a good time for you to style yourself up and find a mate, or spend time with the one you already have. February's a good month for meeting connections of a more spiritual and fated variety, as Jupiter will sextile Neptune in your sign. June is a good time to solve conflict, and take action. March, however, will be the luckiest, with Jupiter sextile the Sun in your sign! October is a good time for love, while November is a good time for travel, though the month of July may be having you feel overwhelmed. Just make sure not to overwhelm yourself by taking on more social obligations than you can handle!
