Amazon Prime Blunder Releases New ‘Doctor Who’ Episode Days Before Its Premiere
Viewers have watched “The Witchfinders” already.
Doctor Who Series 11 has taken off on a high start with the viewing figures for the opening episode “The Woman Who Fell to Earth” now exceeding 11 million viewers. The series penned by new showrunner, Chris Chibnall, and a mix of other new writers, has so far gained very mixed reviews within its fanbase. You either love it or you hate it. There doesn’t really seem to be an in between. Series 11 episodes 1-5 were written by Chibnall (apart from episode three where he co-wrote with Malorie Blackman), which has done some damage, as people can’t adjust to his writing, with a large majority of fans branding Chibnall’s episodes this series as mediocre.
However, episodes 6-9 have been written by a mix of fantastic new writers including Pete McTighe and Joy Wilkinson. The recently aired episode by McTighe “Kerblam!” went down incredibly well with fans and it looks like episode eight on Sunday is going to get the same reaction. But, thanks to an Amazon Prime blunder, the episode due to air on Sunday, “The Witchfinders” has already been uploaded online instead of “Kerblam!”

Social media users took to Twitter this morning to report that “The Witchfinders” has been uploaded onto Amazon Prime by accident and sits under the name of “Kerblam!” meaning fans in America have got a head start on the latest instalment. The episode written by Joy Wilkinson was unexpectedly released, causing panic amongst fans. One Twitter user under the handle of @Da01nSidhe said:
“Alert! Amazon Prime have a huge mixup on their hands: Currently, if you watch “Kerblam!”, you are shown the next episode “The Witchfinders” instead.”
They went onto saying:
“No idea [how they got it]. I just went on Kerblam and got The Witchfinders instead.”
Another user said they “tried to rewatch #DoctorWho Kerblam! On Amazon and The Witchfinders played instead. Weird.”

The episode set in the 17th Century sees the Doctor (Jodie Whittaker), Graham (Bradley Walsh), Ryan (Tosin Cole) and Yaz (Mandip Gill) landing in the middle of a witch trial. The synopsis for the episode reads:
“The Doctor, Ryan, Graham and Yaz arrive in 17th century Lancashire and become embroiled in a witch trial, run by the local landowner. As fear stalks the land, the arrival of King James I only serves to intensify the witch hunt. But is there something even more dangerous at work? Can the Doctor and friends keep the people of Bilehurst Cragg safe from all the forces that are massing in the land?”
This precise episode was mainly filmed in Gosport, Hampshire, England, where a small 17th Century village is located. Vocal Media creator, Lewis Jefferies, managed to get to the filming location to watch certain scenes be filmed and managed to snap some pictures.

Both Amazon Prime and BBC America are yet to comment on this blunder, and all fans want to do is watch “Kerblam!” It appears this blunder is only available in America and the British Amazon Prime plays “Kerblam!” as listed in the episodes section.
From social media polls, it appears the pure historical episodes we’ve had so far, “Rosa” and “Demons of the Punjab,” have gone down best with the fans, which can only mean Joy Wilkinson’s debut Doctor Who episode this week will go down the same route.
