Chapter 4

It had been three days since Jamie had gone home after he proposed, and she was still on cloud nine! She couldn’t wait for Sharon to get here on Friday so that they could start planning the wedding.

Jamie had started to file the necessary paperwork that he needed in order to move his company to Miami. They decided not to sell his house. They wanted to keep it so they had a place to stay when they went home to visit.

Christie had spent the last two days making room for his stuff in her closet. She moved some of her clothes into the spare bedroom. She ordered another dresser to match the bedroom set for him and cleaned out the storage building in the backyard to make more room, but that didn’t go so well, so she bought another one for his stuff.

Her mom had decided to come down with Sharon for the weekend so she could help with the planning. They had decided on August 5th as the date, which gave them eight months to plan.

Christie had sat down at work today and made a list of things she wanted her, her mom, and Sharon to do this weekend.

One was finding a venue and booking it. Two was finding a caterer. Three was making the guest list. Four was picking out the colors. (Jamie said he was fine with whatever she decided.) Five was picking out Sharon and her mom’s dresses. Six was ordering the invitations. Before Friday, she was getting with Jamie and then deciding how big they wanted the wedding party to be and who they were going to be. So then number seven would be calling the ladies and giving them the color of the dresses and the options of which ones they could order from the boutique once she decided which boutique. And last on her list was wedding dress shopping. She put it as number eight because she knew it was going to be the item that took the most time. She had gone out at lunch and bought five wedding magazines, and Mia had made a list of wedding planners that she could use.

She called the wedding planner that Mia recommended the most, All About You, and the owner, Ebony, agreed to meet with her and the ladies on Saturday at 9:30 am.

She already knew that she wanted at least three women in the wedding party. One being Sharon as her Maid of Honor. Then Mia and Dana, Ryan’s wife, as bridesmaids. She also knew that Jamie would want Darrell and his brother, John, to stand up for him. He loved John, but she figured it would be Darrell as his best man. John was six years younger than Jamie. This would also put Darrell walking down the aisle with Sharon. Even though they hadn’t talked in years, they used to be great friends, so it would work. John would then walk down the aisle with Mia.

She could see Jamie probably asking a few other guys that maybe worked for him. Several of those guys had gone to school with them, too. Jamie was leaving his company running in Yaupon and Mitch was going to oversee it as the manager. Jamie was only moving the corporate office to Miami or creating one and adding a fleet as well. She told him that she would help in any way that she could.

She sat in her office all afternoon and let the staff handle all the workload while she made notes about the wedding and even put some ads online for Jamie’s company. He would need an office staff and drivers. He was looking online for office space and a ‘yard’ to put the trucks.

At 3 o’clock, she packed up her stuff and headed home. She had one more day to go until Sharon and her mom would be here. She knew that when they got here that some of the stress she was feeling would be lifted.
