Sexy Album Covers

Sexy album covers can sometimes turn you on more than sexy music.

A lot of music can make people feel sexy, which is why we are all big music junkies here at Filthy. However, a lot of albums will turn people on more from inside the vinyl sleeve or CD case than they will by being listened to. Confused? Let me help. Here is a list of the best sexy album covers (not necessarily music) of all time.

God bless heavy metal. The sleeve for this 1979 album was painted by respected artist Chris Achilleos (who used to do covers for Doctor Who novels). The crazy backlash Achilleos received for painting this crazy cover meant he would steer clear of the rock world for many years after that.

Jimi Hendrix unveiled his masterpiece in 1968. It was a zealous, multi-tracked album, with four sides and solidified Hendrix as the god of psychedelic rock. Jimi’s record label decided to commemorate this achievement by arranging 19 naked ladies with strategically placed Hendrix album and single sleeves. Jimi was NOT happy with that.

Naked girls melded together with their heads on fire. Yeah, that’s quite shocking, and surprisingly sexy… Maybe I’m alone there, though.

This Pink Floyd member goes solo and employs regular collaborator Gerald Scarfe to create some sexy nude art. The girl on the cover was Glamour magazine star Linzi Drew, who later married Ben Dover (I wouldn’t suggest Googling him if you are in the company of others). Do you think she got to where she wanted to go?

Nestled on a soft cloud on the cover of Teenage Dream, Katy Perry certainly knows how to play the provocative card. Painted by Will Cotton, the album, which was released in August 2010, did not feature any text. Who doesn’t swoon for Katie’s retro pin-up aesthetic?

Blink 182 recruited adult actress Janine Lindermulder for the cover of their most successful studio album in 1999. Dressed as a nurse, she is inspecting the semi-naked Blink 182 on the back cover. The first editions of the album featured a Red Cross symbol on Lindermulder’s cap—this was later removed after the aid company complained.

The provocative cover of Love At First Sting shows a couple in cahoots, which seems innocent enough. However, it was banned in several stores because of its naughty nature and later replaced by a simple shot of the band. Just one of a number of controversial albums by the metal genre.

David Robinson, drummer for The Cars, came up with the wonderful idea of convincing artist Alberto Vargass out of retirement at the ripe old age of eighty-three. Amazingly, his first few paintings were turned down by the band’s record label Elelktra, who insisted on him removing the pubic hair and nipples.

Alison Goldfrapp, covering her chest with her left arm and hand, and is an alluring figure on the cover of Supernature. On the US version of the album we also get to she her sexy long legs, while a tail of peacock feathers covered the perfect amount to leave the rest up to the viewers imagination.

The cover of Buckcherry’s self titled album, which was released in 1999, but has more a feel of 1967 with the colorful psychedelic designs which swirl around the naked model’s torso. To appreciate the cover fully, you’d have to buy the gatefold vinyl where it shows her equally hot bottom half.

Cherries are the most sexually suggestive fruit out there. This 1976 sleeve includes a pair of sensuous red female lips about to gobble down the cherry.

They may make completely annoying Nickelback-esque music, but Hinder certainly knows how to gain some much-needed attention with their album sleeves. This one featured a woman in red lacy underwear perusing over photos of the band themselves. It’s no wonder that it went platinum, then.

Known as their best album, Roxy Music’s 1974 record also featured one of the most iconic cover art. The models Constanze Karoli and Eveline Grunwald, who are in there (not very modest) underwear grace the cover. Many countries, including the US and Holland, banned it. Not many people enjoyed Roxy Music, but I know anyone with blood pumping in their veins will enjoy this album cover.

Kind of a sexier, less seedy version of Pulp’s This Is Hardcore released some three years later, Sugar Ray’s 1995 effort features actress Nicole Eggert (of Baywatch fame) on the cover. Despite the attention-grabbing cover, the album was ultimately a critical and commercial flop. Perhaps, in this instance, sex doesn’t sell.

Released in 1965, Herb Alpert’s album has since sold 6 million copies and has earned a legendary status thanks to its extremely risqué cover of a woman doused in whipped cream and sucking suggestively on her finger. It’s no wonder that it has been parodied a number of times since.
