let it linger

let it soak

don't be eager

don't be a joke

*

you are an addict

it's time to face it

thoughts erratic

they're all laced with

*

the ugly, vulgar and degrading

fucking shameful at nearly thirty

your relationships fading

intimacy twisted, corrupt and dirty

*

you're being abused

by your lack of control

you're grossly confused

it's drowning your soul

*

find some discipline

do whatever it takes

this stuff is poison

grotesque and fake

*

you say your quest

is truth and authenticity

are you saying that in jest?

all i see is hypocrisy

*

it's crippling young boys

taking their innocence

instead of playing with toys

they're seeing sexual malevolence

*

it got me young

and sunk in its claw

then i was strung

my fatal flaw

*

how do we talk about something taboo?

something so common,

so damagingly untrue

*

sexually transmitted dopamine hits

forces us to go after

much more then just tits

*

its undermining our culture

a spiritual black hole

like a predatory vulture

feasting on our soul

*

So go ahead and give it a tug

but just remember,

Porn is a drug.

sexual wellness

Powerful and earnest poem about a topic that is taboo yet should be discussed.

Your honesty is admirable, and you've described the anger with a powerful voice. The last line really brings the message home. Excellent insightful piece of writing, Dean.

Very powerful. Tough topic to tackle but you got the message across very well.

Bravo for letting this out. It's so wrong how smart phones and tablets are just a click away from destroying/altering one's natural sexual development.

Whoa! I love that you wrote and shared this. Thanks for brave exploration of the taboo. This particular subject gives me a lot of angst, sadness, frustration, and I feel all of this in your poem, albeit from a perspective different from my own, which I appreciate all the more.
