No Nut November: The Sexual Challenge for People to Stop Jerking Off for a Month
#Stop Masturbating
What is No Nut November?
What are the rules of this sexual challenge?
What is its origin?
It's the start of No Nut November, a yearly internet challenge in which participants abstain from orgasming for an entire month.
This unusual annual abstinence event originated in 2011, probably as a satirical take on "Movember."
And since then has grown in popularity.
It's difficult to say how many people participate in "Not Nut November."
But on Reddit, there are nearly 100,000 members of the No Nut November group.
As you can guess, it's mostly men, but women are also encouraged to participate.
When was this challenge born?
This challenge was born on Reddit three years ago in 2017 as a joke in response to a 2012 TEDx talk discussing the possible effects of sexual hyperstimulation on the internet.
The scientist of the talk, Gary Wilson, advocated that having so much adult content could not be healthy.
In response to this, Reddit users created a thread that was the start of the challenge.
In it, they proposed to go 30 days without touching themselves.
Rules of No Nut November
The rules of participation are clear.
You are not allowed to have orgasms in any way, no involuntary rubbing or anything else.
Watching porn and getting aroused is not considered breaking the rule unless you masturbate, in which case you're out.
Wet dreams count too, and don't even think about having sex if you want to get over the NNN.
"Any loopholes like Nut Coupons, birthday freebies, three-strikes law, or anything of the type will disqualify you from the contest. So if you are looking for any loopholes of the type, then you've already lost," according to Reddit's No Nut November sub.
Among the participants of this curious challenge are illustrious people like ElRubius, who had no qualms in recognizing the difficulty of fulfilling it a couple of editions ago.
Usually symbolized with an eggplant (emoji that has become the representation of the male sex, ndlr) and a spot crossed out with a forbidden sign, this viral movement has its followers.
We can see on Twitter with the hashtag #nonutnovember participants who do not hesitate to publish the evolution of their mood daily.
And sometimes frustration from the day they begin their voluntary abstinence on November one.
However, those participating do it with a purpose: the Destroy Dick December.
If 'No Nut November' consists of not masturbating, 'Destroy Dick December' is just the opposite and invites its participants to masturbate daily as many times as the number on the calendar indicates.
That is, on December 1st, you would have to ejaculate once, and on the 31st, 31 times.
How serious is No Nut November?
The serious "don't orgasm" crew is Reddit's "NoFap" board.
"No Nut November" is a much more casual affair.
It is an occasion to post memes (some of which are funny) or discuss sex and masturbation habits than a proper movement, although some adherents earnestly tout the benefits.
What are the benefits?
Not all experts have the same opinion about this challenge.
Some professionals, such as Dr. Chris Donaghue, a sexologist in Los Angeles (United States), do not believe it is healthy.
Moreover, in an interview for the Huffington Post, he exposed a clear message:
"I tell you to ejaculate and ejaculate as much as possible!".
Moreover, according to him, masturbation has numerous health benefits, such as strengthening pelvic muscles, improving erectile and cardiac function, and reducing the risk of prostate cancer.
However, some experts support the idea of 'No Nut November' for more psychological reasons:
"Holding back ejaculation is, above all, an exercise in mind control. And it allows us to concentrate more of our energy on daily tasks or existential goals," according to Dr. Jamin Brahmbhatt, a urologist in Florida.
