Sarah had been in love with David for as long as she could remember. She had always admired him from afar, watching him play basketball with his friends or study in the library. They had even been in a few classes together, but she could never muster the courage to talk to him. David was popular and outgoing, while Sarah was shy and introverted. She knew he would never notice her, but that didn't stop her from daydreaming about him.

One day, Sarah was sitting in the library, reading a book, when David walked in. She tried to act casual, but her heart was racing. He sat down at the table next to hers and started studying. Sarah stole a few glances at him, trying to appear uninterested. She could feel her face turning red and her palms getting sweaty. She was about to pack up and leave when David spoke to her.

"Hey, I've seen you around before. Do you need any help with that?"

Sarah was too stunned to respond at first, but eventually managed to mumble a thank you. They started talking, and Sarah was surprised to find that David was easy to talk to. They had a lot in common, and he seemed genuinely interested in what she had to say. Sarah was thrilled that he was finally paying attention to her, but she knew it was only because he wanted to help her with her homework.

Over the next few weeks, Sarah and David started studying together regularly. They would meet up in the library or at a coffee shop and work on their assignments. Sarah was over the moon that she was spending time with her crush, but she also knew that it was only a matter of time before he would lose interest in her. She tried to be cool and not show her feelings, but it was hard. Every time David smiled at her, her heart skipped a beat.

One day, David asked Sarah to go to a party with him. Sarah was ecstatic. This was her chance to show David that she was more than just a study partner. She spent hours getting ready, picking out the perfect outfit and doing her hair and makeup. When David picked her up, Sarah felt like she was on top of the world. They danced, laughed and had a great time. Sarah couldn't believe that she was finally living her dream.

But as the night wore on, Sarah realized that David was more interested in the other girls at the party than he was in her. He would dance with her for a few minutes and then go off to talk to someone else. Sarah felt crushed. She knew that she was just another girl in a long line of girls that David had probably dated or would date. She tried to put on a brave face and pretend that everything was okay, but inside, she was falling apart.

As the night came to an end, David walked Sarah home. They said their goodbyes and David hugged her. Sarah wanted to stay in his arms forever, but she knew that it was time to let go. As David walked away, Sarah felt tears streaming down her face. She had been living in a dream world, hoping that David would somehow fall in love with her. But she knew that it was time to face reality.

Sarah realized that her love for David was one-sided. She had been holding onto a fantasy that could never come true. She knew that she had to move on and find someone who would love her for who she was. It was a hard lesson to learn, but Sarah knew that it was for the best.

From that day on, Sarah focused on herself. She made new friends, pursued her hobbies, and started dating other guys. She still thought about David from time to time.
