Nancy paced the floor of the meeting room as she waited for Adam. The impeachment was not going as planned! They had to stop the president one way or another! He could never be allowed to interfere with the way things have always gone... But yet he was!!!

Where was Adam? He should have been here an hour ago! She watched the clock slowly tick the minutes by as she paced and wrung her hands. The gold plated pens that were left sat upon the desk, even though what they stood for was now meaningless and might have destroyed her career. Thanks to Adam...

"Sorry I'm late," Adam gasped as he rushed through the door then slammed it behind him. His crisp suit always tight around his small neck making him look as if his collar was strangling him. His eyes were rapidly scanning the room as if someone might be watching them.

"Where have you been?" Nancy asked as she rushed into his arms and rested her head against his chest. "With all the death threats we have been getting I was so worried about you!" She gasped into his shirt as she clung to him.

"I met with the whistleblower again," he breathed into her ear as his arms embraced her tightly. "He gave me more information that might be helpful."

"He has been discredited though," Nancy nearly whispered, knowing all their hard work was about to be ruined if the senate acquitted the president.

"It doesn't matter, sweetheart. What matters is the court of public opinion. At this point anything negative we say will help," Adam kissed the top of her head as he tried to reassure her.

Ever since this president took office their old ways were being threatened. It was harder to funnel money from the bills they wanted to pass. Every little detail was now now highly scruntinized before it was approved and many additions they had added would be removed before it was signed off on. Their cash cow was nearly drying up.

"It does matter. How are we going to get rid of him for good?" Nancy could have cried right there but Adam used his finger to tilt her chin and plant a kiss hard upon her lips.

"Trust me," he smiled as his lips pulled away from hers leaving her breathless. "This president will be gone very soon, one way or another."

"I simply cannot endure another impeachment inquiry. I will never get reelected if this continues. The public must believe us and back us," Nancy sighed as she pulled away and resumed pacing. The carpet on the meeting room floor was beginning to show the wear pattern of all of her pacing.

"We hold the power. We must exercise it now. The people cannot be trusted to vote in their own best interests now. It is up to US to choose what is right for them," Adam spoke firmly as he picked up one of the pens Nancy had made. "They haven't even found our connection to foreign companies, yet. How smart are they?" He laughed.

"The public thinks we are a joke!" Nancy wrung her hands as she paced faster. "We committed treason for God sake Adam! When the fallout happens do you really think we are immune from the consequences?" The worry on her face was apparent.

"The public believes the lies of the main stream media. They believe the whistleblower and everything we have leaked to them," Adam said assuredly. He tossed the pen back onto the table and it skittered off and onto the floor. "They want this president gone as much as we do."

"Really? Have you seen the other news? It isn't good," Nancy sighed and sat in a chair at the table. She leaned down to pick up the pen and Adam admired her barely showing cleavage. She always wore sensible dress suits. He wished she was a little more relaxed in her attire.

"We have worked for decades to make the public dependent on us. Now they are. What can he do to undo everything we put in place the last twenty or so years?" Adam asked as he took a seat next to her. "This president is trying to ruin our control and we will not allow that."

"We have tried Adam, what more can we do to stop him now? All this impeachment has done is almost insured his reelection!" Nancy almost shouted as she slammed the pen onto the table. "We cannot allow a mere businessman with no political experience to come in here and destroy everything we have built!"

"And we won't. He has no idea the lengths we have gone to in order to funnel cash or where it goes," Adam whispered. He took her hand in his and stared into her eyes. "The public could care less about what we do and the president should keep his nose out of our business."

"When the senate acquits him, what then?" She sighed and sank into her chair in defeat. Nancy saw no way out of this dilemma they had created. It seemed to be a no win situation that was about to end her career.

"Just the facts Ma'am," Adam chuckled and kissed her cheek. "The facts as we present them to the public that is." His evil smile lit up his face and she knew he had a plan.

"What facts?" Nancy could not bear much more of this, she was weary of the long days and endless interviews. She hated the meetings and voting. She simply wanted things to get back to how they were without so much interference in their scheming.

"The new whistleblower and the new facts. If he is acquitted I have a new whistleblower lined up to bring the new charges against him and this time he cannot escape from them," Adam grinned like a kid in a candy shop.

"This president seems to be made of teflon. Everything we throw at him is simply sliding right off," Nancy whined. He loved it when she was frustrated and knew just how to make her relax. He stroked her hand as he scooted his chair closed.

"Right now an article is being written that will totally discredit this president for good," Adam whispered into her ear. Nancy gasped at the warm air tickling her neck. "You must trust me, sweetheart."

"I did before and look where that has gotten us! We could be charged with treason, perjury and a slew of other charges! Not to mention lose our jobs or go to jail! Adam I would never survive in jail! What are we going to do?" Nancy was becoming ever more frantic, knowing this farce of impeachment would have serious fallout when things settled down.

"You must endure this sweetheart, it is almost over," Adam breathed into her ear as he kissed her neck. He wanted to rip her clothes off, throw her on the table and take her right there. Something about her smell just drove him insane with desire for her.

"What about Joe? What about everything they dug up? It's all true and he will never be elected if we can't distract the public from it!" Nancy needed a democrat back in office now. Only a democrat would get things back to the way they had always been. “Joe is our best candidate! If we are forced to deal with any of the contenders none of them stand a chance against the president right now!”

"No one is taking all that seriously. The public doesn't care. It isn't going to make a difference at the polls," Adam truly believed Joe would replace the current president in less than a year. Joe was their ally and all of them were in together so deep if one goes down they all would.

"Joe could go to prison Adam! Who will be president then?" Nancy protested, knowing all of this was serious. "It can't be like the others. The public already thinks all of the accidents and suicides look suspicious!"

"Anyone who opposes us must disappear. They cannot testify to anything then, can they?" Adam pulled away and took her hands making her stand before him. How he wanted her! He ran his hands up and down her arms to soothe her.

"There have been too many! Thankfully they aren't associating them with us, yet, but," Nancy couldn't finish because Adam pounced on her. His lips crushing hers as he pulled her tightly to him.

Nancy returned his fierce kiss wanting nothing more than to forget, even if only for a little while. The pressure of everything was weighing on her and the wine wasn't helping anymore. She had seen the comments on social media, and watched video of what people said about her. She needed a break from it all. Her hands went to his neck and began to loosen his tie.

"Wait, I need to lock the door," Adam said breathlessly as he pulled away. Her heart hammered within her as she watched him twist the lock and knew now that they would not be interrupted. "There, now we have some privacy."

Adam went to the desk and removed his tie before returning to her. He hated the formal attire with a passion, but it was not comon knowledge than he would rather be in blue jeans and a t shirt. His fingers slowly unbuttoned her top and revealed the lacy bra underneath. Her fingers unbuttoned his shirt as their desire nearly overwhelmed them.

These little moments had been going on for many years. No one even suspected, thankfully. What would happen if anyone found out? After all they did have commitments to others. These little rendevous's could destroy their lives but they didn't care in this moment. They had worked hard to keep these meetings a secret and would continue to do so.

Once the clothes were in a pile on the floor near their feet, Adam lifted Nancy onto the table and took he roughly. How she loved it! She had not felt so alive in so long, expect the brief interludes here with Adam. Her body had not responded this way to anyone that she could ever recall.

Even in these wonderful moments, the situation at hand invaded her thoughts. She pushed them away, not wanting to ruin the thrill. Both of them reached climax and nearly collasped onto the table when it washed over them. Here they had to keep it as quiet as possible. One never knew who might be in the hall just outside the door.

Without speaking they got dressed, touched up and then unlocked the door. Chuck was due in soon to discuss their plan to move forward and they had to look presentable. Chuck always looked at them suspiciously, as if he knew but would never say a word about it. They could trust chuck implicitly, they both knew that. Even if Chuck somehow knew what was going on they knew he would never speak a word of it.

What they didn't know though, and could not have known is that their little meetings were being caught on film by one of the president's aide's. Each little meeting between them for two years had been caught on camera and the aide had given them to the president as soon as they had been recorded.

"Why didn't anyone believe the witnesses Adam?" Nancy asked as she sat at the desk and shuffled papers around. "They put themselves on the line to give the testimony. I just don't understand why no one believed them."

"The public believes them and that is all that matters," Adam said as he fixed his tie and sat at the table. "There is a new leak planned from the new whistleblower. If all goes well it should be released before the official vote in the senate."

"We should never have rushed the impeachment through so fast Adam. That is why it has failed," she sighed and grabbed the notebook she had been looking for and a stack of papers. She flipped through them in distraction.

"We had enough evidence. It was overwhelming. I have no idea how it all fell apart," he sighed. "Come sit with me and let's review it all again to see if we can figure out what went wrong."

Adam began sorting paperwork into piles as Nancy grabbed a huge stack to carry to the table. She knew that this would resolve nothing. She warned Adam not to rush this through but he insisted. Nancy went back to her desk and grabbed a stack of blank subpeonas. She slammed them in front of Adam as she sat down.

"Fill them out. If he gets acquitted we must finish what we started or our lives are over," Nancy grumbled as she began to sort paperwork as well.

“Who are we calling this time?” Adam asked as he reached for a pen.

“Everyone, unless we can arrange an accident that would take care of the president and the vice president at the same time,” she sighed and grabbed a stack of papers. “I am third in line you know. If something happened to both of them then it would be me who takes the office until we can get Joe in there.”

“Let’s see what we can work out, sweetheart,” Adam half grinned and in that moment it looked so evil. Nancy began reading and Adam furiously wrote on the subpoenas as the day passed quickly.
