How covid-19 is affecting BDSM

So we all have been talking about the deaths and what has been closed during this outbreak. What we haven't really talked about is the effect of Covid-19 on the kink world.

So the first thing to be affected were the clubs. I know one in Atlanta shut down pretty early into the pandemic. So the owners are losing money and possible new members. They can possibly open again once this is all over.

Meeting people and also possibly play dates are on hold. Most places are shut down so that cuts down on meeting up and dates. Also in some states people aren't allowed to have people over unless they are a care taking or delivering stuff to your house, so that could cut down on play dates if people listen to the order.

I actually seen some people on fetlife in states that are all but shut done saying "let's meet up". I know they want strangers to meet up with them but there's no way to safely do that, everything is closed and you should never go to the house of someone you don't know.

Also there are conventions for the lifestyle that have been postponed or cancelled all together. I know frolicon was moved to December. I'm going to try to save up and go this year. Frolicon is set to take place the weekend before my birthday so I would like to do that for my birthday.

Playing can be tricky not only because people can pass covid-19 to each other but because of cleaning the toys that are made of certain materials. I do suggest you look up how to clean stuff like leather or whatever your toys are made of.

Some people are losing their jobs or getting their hours cut. These people will have to just focus on paying bills and surviving through this. This means people may have to cut down on events possibly even after this all blows over. They also may not be able to go to clubs or even by toys on the same time line. Going out on dates and meeting up with people may even take a hit for a while.

People may still be playing and buying things online that they need for the lifestyle. There may even people who won't miss a beat once this is all over. I'm hoping this is true for all or most of you.

So what can we do to help the world and the situation? Be kind to each other (and yourself) and reach out to each other and check on each other. Also support people who make toys as much as you can. Stay inside if you can, I'm sure you are tired of hearing that by now.

We can get through this. It's going to be tough and confusing right now but when this is over it will go back to some what normal. What won't be normal is the fact that we will have frolicon 2020 and 2021 months apart instead of a year apart.
