What exactly is BDSM?

Bondage Domination Sadism and Masochism are the four primary terms that come together to create this genre that we know more commonly in its abbreviated form - BDSM. Now, it’s one thing to watch BDSM porn on the net and entirely another to really enter this world of pleasure, which is often closely intertwined with the willing acceptance of pain, humiliation, submission and domination. Couples or singles with adventurous souls that want to get started in the genre should, however, be properly familiar with the following terms and know exactly what they mean.

BDSM: More than Just Four Traits

Although BDSM originally meant the four mentioned above, that definition is not sufficient anymore. A number of other terms and subgenres have been added to BDSM lately, turning it into an umbrella term which goes beyond its initial limits.

Some of the later additions and differentiations are as follows, but one should know that these subgenres are often overlapping and may mostly be called circumstantial at best.

• B&D - Bondage and discipline

• D&S - Dominance and submission

• Male domination

• Male submission

• Female domination (CFNM)

• Female submission

• S&M - Sadism and Masochism

Cuckold: A Subgenre of D&S

By its simplest definition, cuckold or cuckolding is a consensual sexual scenario, where one of the two partners have sex with a third person outside their romantic/marital bonds, while the other partner watches on. Check out real stories on cuckolding at Cuckin.Com to know more about the genre and how many pleasurable twists it can be given.

Play Party

A play party is when a BDSM club meets in a dungeon for engaging in isolated or group sexual activities.

Protocol

All agreed upon rules to be followed inside the dungeon, and to be implemented by the dungeon keepers, as instructed by the dungeon monitor or master.

Hard Limits

The maximum threshold for any activity related to the concerned sexual activity, which cannot be exceeded or negotiated with.

Dungeon

A dungeon would be the place where a BDSM club meets to engage in their carnal desires and fantasies. It is usually equipped with a whole range of sex toys, especially in line with the genre, such as whips, canes, floggers, paddles, leather ware, masks, chains, handcuffs, etc.

Dungeon Monitor/Master

The dungeon monitor or master is the person who owns and/or is in charge of maintaining and regulating the dungeon, as well as the BDSM events that take place inside it. They stay in charge of ensuring that protocols of the dungeon are obeyed, and hard limits are respected at all times.

Dungeon Keepers

Dungeon keepers work directly under the dungeon master to carry out his/her will in ensuring that none of the preset and pre-informed dungeon protocols are broken by any of the members.

Munch

A social interaction at a public place, often used to break the ice between the newcomers and the older members, before meeting in a dungeon.

Safe Word

As some of the activities in S&M are quite extreme, it is important to have a safe word that will instantly stop the activity. Everyone involved in the activity should be well aware of the safe word in advance, and they must respect it under all circumstances.

Sub & Dom

Short for submissive and dominant, subs and doms are the ideal couples for participating in BDSM Play Parties, or in their own private scenes. As the terms suggest, one of the two partners is a submissive personality who derives pleasure from submitting all physical and sexual control to his/her partner, who is the dominant partner, deriving pleasure from gaining that control over his/her partner.

Once you start getting deeper into the genre, you will become more familiar with other even more discreet terms. For now, though, these should suffice as an introduction.
