In the future, some jobs will be reduced because of automation.

But as companies start using robots in factories, kitchens, and delivery routes, workers have a chance to participate in developing and using the technology.

According to a report from the World Economic Forum in 2023, the sectors that are most likely to start using robotics are electronics, energy tech and utilities, and consumer goods

There is no doubt that automation will get rid of some jobs in the next few years.

However, as companies start using robots in factories, kitchens, and delivery routes, workers now have a chance to be a part of building and using this technology.

Both human-like and non-human robots are expected to decrease the number of jobs in the future. Many companies predict that the technology will either lead to growth, job loss, or have no significant impact. This information comes from the World Economic Forum's Future of Jobs Report for 2023 prediction. According to the study, the industries that are most likely to start using robots are electronics, energy technology and utilities, and consumer goods.

The impact could be different based on the type of industry.

For instance, a study by the World Economic Forum (WEF) discovered that 60% of companies in consumer goods and oil and gas expect job losses because of automation. However, 60% of companies in the information and technology industry believe that robots will lead to the creation of new jobs within the next five years.Zipline, a company in robotics, is hiring employees. They want to hire at least 100 new workers. The startup is located in San Francisco, California. They create and use drones that can deliver items without needing a human to control them. They work with a variety of clients, including hospitals, the government of Rwanda, and big companies like Walmart, GNC, Toyota, and Sweetgreen. Jobs are available in various fields like electrical and mechanical engineering, coding, and security.

In a world where many startups are cutting jobs or being cautious, Zipline CEO Keller Rinaudo Cliffton said that their company is still very optimistic and ambitious about the future. The market they are in is large and exciting, so they plan to be very aggressive in the next couple of years.

According to Rinaudo Cliffton, the way we currently deliver things is not good. It takes a long time, costs a lot of money, and is harmful to the environment. Using automation to improve processes has advantages for customers, employees, and the environment.

Rinaudo Cliffton said that technology can sometimes change the type of jobs people do, but mostly it just makes people more efficient and productive at their work. In the past, we used a person to deliver one item at a time. They would drive a car and make the deliveries. Currently, we are teaching a person how to take care of and control a group of robots. Now, humans are able to make 50 deliveries in one hour instead of just five. This means we can pay the human a higher amount of money. These are jobs that people really desire and genuinely want.

The Association for Advancing Automation argues that using automation in companies, both large and small, has two benefits. It makes workers' jobs easier by removing boring or risky tasks. It also helps companies stay competitive and fast in making things. It can also help to fix a current lack of workers.

Jeff Burnstein, the president of a group called A3, said that from the perspective of a worker, this tool (referring to automation technology) is helpful for improving job performance and increasing chances of getting better, safer, and higher-paying jobs in the future. A3 is an organization with 1,200 member companies worldwide.

Businesses need to find a careful balance between using automation to make employees' lives easier without completely replacing them. Unions and labor rights advocates have typically opposed the use of robots, fearing that they could completely replace certain human jobs.

Burnstein says that China using a lot of robots shows that companies need automation to stay competitive.

China uses the most robots in the world by a lot. This means that even countries with lots of workers and cheap workers still need to use this tool in order to compete with other countries.

Automation is being used in food service to help restaurants become more productive.

Vebu Labs, a company in El Segundo, California, is partnering with Chipotle.

This text is about a robot called the Autocado, which is designed to assist in preparing avocados for guacamole. The burrito restaurant is trying out a robot called Chippy that makes chips. They want the robot to help workers do other important tasks in the kitchen and make their work more efficient.

Vebu needs to hire more than 40 workers in the United States. in different job positions such as engineering, accounting, and fabrication.

"Our services are in high demand because there is a significant problem with labor in restaurants," explained Buck Jordan, CEO of Vebu. This issue will not be resolved soon. It doesn't go away quickly. It is not caused by Covid. This happens because there are not enough workers available for jobs.

Robots and automation are helping some industries with work, but there aren't enough workers for the companies making the technology. A3's Burnstein believes that people need to learn more about using and creating robots.

Many times, we believe that the only way to secure a good job is by going to college, completing a four-year degree, pursuing a Master's degree, and obtaining a Ph. D "That isn't true," he stated. Some companies need more people with technical skills, so they are hiring high school graduates directly. We need to deal with this issue as a whole nation because otherwise, companies that want to use machines for automation will struggle as they don't have anyone on their team who knows how to operate those machines.
