Why Venus before Mars?

Why do scientists think that the spacecraft should be sent to Venus before going to Mars?

Preparations are going on for the Human Mission to Mars. Work is also going on on the plan to set up a colony there. But meanwhile scientists had also said that Venus should be studied along with Mars. This is the reason why NASA, European and other space agencies have started work on sending their spacecraft to Venus. But many scientists even feel that Venus is a better candidate for the first human mission outside the Earth. It is surprising that even after having hell-like conditions in Venus, why are scientists thinking like this?

hellish conditions of venus

The condition of the planet Venus is considered to be among the worst among all the planets in the solar system. Scientists call it the condition of hell for humans. Even lead melts on its surface. The temperature here is more than 475 degree Celsius. Not only this, the cross-surface atmospheric pressure is also as much as the bottom of the earth's deep seas, which is 90 times more than the earth's atmospheric pressure, which humans cannot bear. There are clouds of sulfuric acid here.

can be observed from a distance

At present, astronomers can study Venus only by observing from a distance through spacecraft. Even in one campaign, there is a preparation to drop a small probe on the atmosphere of Venus, which will end before reaching the surface. Apart from this, a day on Venus is longer than a year on Earth.

and Mars?

On the other hand, Mars is the fourth planet in terms of distance from the Sun, which is a very cold planet, the average temperature here goes up to minus 18 degrees, so it is not possible to get liquid water on its surface. Dusty storms also occur here many times and the processes of clouds are visible just like the earth. The day here is almost as long as the day on Earth. And the gravity is one third of the Earth's. Its atmosphere is much thinner than Earth's, consisting of 95 percent carbon dioxide and less than one percent oxygen.

Venus like Earth?

But still there are many reasons due to which scientists like Venus very much. There are many reasons that have attracted scientists to study, in which the biggest reason is that billions of years ago, the conditions of Earth and Venus were exactly the same, but when Earth turned into a beautiful habitable planet, Venus turned into hell.

Even better than Mars in many ways

Looking at these things one wonders why scientists want to give preference to Venus. Venus is closer to Earth than Mars. It can be reached within a year, while it will take three years to do so on Mars. Scientists feel that vehicles passing through Venus can prove to be very useful before the Mars mission.

bad image

Dr. Noam Eisenberg, a researcher at the Applied Physics Laboratory at John Hopkins University and an author of the report, says that the image of Venus has deteriorated because its surface environment is so poor. Now NASA plans to move from the Moon to Mars. But we are putting forward the opinion of making Venus an additional target.

But apart from this, there are many qualities in the planet Venus. Its size, weight and even the distance from the Sun are also the same. Still, the circumstances of both are very different. A report outlining this was presented at the International Astronautical Congress held in Paris last week. Among all these things, one of the things to be noted is that if it is possible to raise the temperature on Mars through terraforming, then why such changes are not being thought of on Venus as well.
