Welcome to Camp Moonlight

I

It all began on a hot summer's day. A new camp was being constructed. A camp that would one day be home to both boys, and girls. The boys would be on one side of the lake, and the girls on the other. Little did they know that this camp would have a dark history. But time would soon prove to that. Time would prove to all things that things are not always what they appear to be. But seem to be more than what they actually are.

Legend has it that when the camp was opened in 1947 it came with it a dark secret before the camps construction even took place. A dark secret that no one knew. From anyone's surprise the camp was actually being fought over by tribal leaders, and the people of the nearby towns. They fought for days, weeks, and even months for the camp not to be built, but the tribal leaders soon lost. On the day of the camps construction, a terrible tragedy would happen that would claim the lives of the construction workers, and soon, even the people of the camp. For this camp was built on a ancient cemetery, and the natives didn't want it disturbed at all. For they gave warnings that were ignored, and no one seemed to care. That is until things started to happen within the camp back in 1957 just 10 years after it's construction.

In 1957 a young boy was swimming out in Moonlight Lake. He got his foot caught on a under current and could not pull himself up. He tried, and tried, but it was too late. The boy was gone in just a few seconds. No one heard a sound from the boy. That is until just the next year after his death when the camp was open again the next year in 1958.

Campers came out to the lake to enjoy a good day. The young boy that drowned was there. But no one seemed to know. To them he was not seen, he was not heard, but he was able to scribble a message out in the sand of the beach of Moonlight Lake to let them know to stay away. There were evil forces at work, and all the boy wanted to do was to warn the people of the camp. Was it a under water current that sucked the boy in? Or was it something more? Something else? The boy wrote a warning in the sand. But it went unanswered, and sadly, unseen to the public.

The boy didn't know what to do. So he waited quietly, patiently, for many years until hopefully something could be done about the evil that occupied the land. He had to wait for someone to come along who was brave enough to fix the camps problems. But who?

About ten years have now passed, and it is now 1967. A young camper by the name of Jack Sky Cloud, a young Native American boy can sense the land's pain. Sense that something is not right with the land, and something is very wrong. He senses that something bad had happened there so many years before the camps construction. But something just bothers him to his core. What was it? He didn't know. But he had a feeling that one of his elders from his tribe may know. He thought that he might phone them when he could, and find out more. They warned him not to go, that the land was cursed, but he didn't want to believe them. Now, he knew something wasn't right. And he suddenly thought to himself that he should have listened. For what was awaiting him that night was something that he would never forget, not for the rest of his life. For this was something that would scar him mentally and physically. For the rest, of his life…

One of Jack's friends explains to him about the Legend of Moonlight Lake. Jack seems interested at first and wants to know more. Thinking maybe he could help in some way rid the camp of it's curse. Jack's friends tell him that it is a fool's errand, and to heed the warnings set down by the camp administrators not to go wandering into the woods, do not ask any questions, all you can do is pray that the camp keeps you safe. And that you make it home in one piece.

Jack asked about the boy that drowned at the camp. Jack's buddies explain to him that the boy didn't know what pulled him under. His name was Eddie from what they were told around camp. Hearing the stories of the boy's demise as the stories around the camp became more common place. Jack's friend's all told him that if he was to see the creature to run and hide as well as he could, and pray that it didn't find him. For if it took the kid, Eddie so many years ago, that it may take him too. That it may be hungry for human flesh!

Jack started to tremble and say that he wasn't afraid. But deep down he was scared out of his mind. Jack didn't know what to do. Jack ate his lunch as fast as he could while all the other kids were talking about other subjects, and his friend was still telling him the tale of so long ago. Jack could not believe what he was hearing.

After he ate his lunch, Jack went back to his room. Thinking about what his friend's had said to him about the evil spirit that walked the land. He tried to call home to get some advice, maybe talk to his mom and dad about what the camp was hiding. But the phone was out. Jack followed the phone cord all the way outside. Someone had cut the cord! Or something? Jack started to get worried. There was only one way to call home, and that was to use the camp phone line.

Jack thought about writing a letter out to his elders, but for some strange reason their mail box was boarded up. Jack could not send a letter out even if he wanted to. Something strange was going on at the camp. Jack just could not figure it out. Jack started to fear the worst, that the worst was just getting started, and there was no way out for him except one way. In a pine box six feet under when they find his remains buried somewhere within the camp. Or if they find him at all.

Jack thought quietly to himself for hours on end until the sun began to set on the camp. He was getting more terrified as the night went on. Thinking that something was going on. Why would the mailbox be boarded up? And why would the phone lines' be cut? And all the phone lines for that matter? Who would do that? What if there is a emergency and we need to call for medical aide? Or call one of our family members to come get us in case we are sick? Things were not making any sense. Jack knew that he had to get out of there, but the only way to the main road was down the dark road that lead in and out of the camp. Through the dark woods. And no one dared to go in there at night, or even from what Jack had heard at lunch, even during the day. There were strange creatures out there that were willing to kill anyone, or anything at any given time. Jack's heart started to race more and more and he started to hyperventilate. He didn't know what to do. He knew one thing though. Darkness was coming upon the camp, and he had to get out. First he had to calm himself down. He had to figure a way out of the situation that he was in. He was going to have to face the fears of walking down that dark road alone at night with only God himself knowing what lurked in the woods that wanted to maybe eat him alive.

Jack quietly snuck to a nearby tree which was down the road from the exit gate. He thought that if he could make it there then he might have a chance of getting out alive. He knew that the sheriff's office was just down the road from the camp and if he could make it there that he would be safe. He knew the sheriff. For the sheriff was his big brother. If he could get to him Jack would be safe.

II

Jack snuck quietly down the road hearing almost every sound that nature had to throw at him that night. He was hoping that once he made it to the sheriff's station down the road that he could call home and everything would be fine. He didn't want anything to chase him. He just wanted to get out of the camp as fast as he could. He could see the entrance to the camp just a few feet in front of him. It was now or never. Jack ran as fast as he could. Once he got to the gate, he saw it was locked! Someone, or something didn't want him to leave the camp, and it was now obvious that he was in danger. There was no fooling around this time he thought. He was going to die for sure.

Suddenly Jack heard a noise from behind him. Something pushed him down swiping at him with what felt like claws! The gate came open and Jack ran down the road screaming for anyone that might hear him, and help him. He wanted to get away from the camp as fast as he could. Fearing that the thing that tried to kill him was behind him Jack picked up the pace and found the nearby Sheriff's Office. He knocked on the door, but no one was in. He smashed the glass with his hand and turned the knob. He then got the main office desk and placed in it in front of the door hoping it would keep the beast out. Or at least until his big brother got back.

Jack heard his brother outside let out a loud scream. Shots were fired. Jack figured that his brother was trying to come back into the station and so Jack pushed away the desk with all of his might. His big brother made it into the station with the creature following behind him. They managed to close the door just in time before the creature could get in.

Jack's brother laid on the floor in a pool of his own blood thinking that he wasn't going to make it out alive. Jack's brother asked him what he was doing at the sheriff's station. Jack said that he was being chased by the very thing that now attacked his brother. He was afraid for his life. Jack's brother's last actions and words for his little brother was to wait until dawn. If something was to happen to him, he would have to use the gun to fend off the creature and wait for help until morning. Jack took the gun and the radio and called for help, all the while having the gun pointed right at the front door incase that creature wanted to go for another round. Jack didn't want to become the next meal.

Dawn came, Jack woke up to the most wonderful surprise he had ever seen all night. Police and Firefighters were at the front door. They helped Jack up. They asked Jack what had happened, and why his brother was dead. Jack thought that maybe his brother had survived. But sadly to Jack's surprise, his brother was dead due to too much blood loss, and claw mark wounds would later prove that it was a wild animal attack that killed his big brother, Sheriff Sky Cloud.

Jack, years later would take up his brother's mantle. In hopes that he could somehow avenge his brother's death. He felt partly responsible that night for his brother's demise. He placed blame on himself for many years because if he had not went running that night he thought to himself, that maybe his brother would still be alive today serving the nearby towns which he loved so much. Now from what Jack knew, there were three nearby towns that he had to protect. The town of Ojibwas, Shawnee, and Moonlight. Moonlight was Jack's home town. He loved it there. But now as a new sheriff, Jack would have to prove that he had what it took to fill his brother's shoes. He wanted to make his brother proud. And most importantly, find his brother's killer. Be it man, or monster.

The year is now 1996, and Camp Moonlight now has new campers coming to it. New Campers, New Blood, New Victims…

Summer time has come to the camp of Moonlight. New arrivals are starting to unload off the buses, and parents are dropping off their children. One child indeed will get to know the full feeling of Camp Moonlight as she enters it's gates through a dirt road, rustic old cabins, and long, dark, historic past. The Native American's that live just north of Moonlight Lake have always said that the land was cursed. And should never under any circumstances be trampled upon by outsiders. But like so long ago, the camp's elders refused to listen. And now, a darkness comes. A darkness so evil, so vile, that it will shake the very foundation of the camp to it's knees.

A new female camper named Leah is dropped off. When getting out of her mother's van Leah could also sense that something was not right with the camp. But she chooses to ignore the problem, and just have a good time like her mother wants her to for the Summer Time. While Leah is looking out into the woods at the view of nature, and listening to the sounds of the birds as they fly by, she suddenly is greeted by a young boy who obviously looked like he was lost, or that he didn't know the camp, just like she did. Maybe he too was looking for directions.

The young boy introduces himself as Eddie. He said to her that he was new to the camp. And that he would be glad to show her around. Leah thought that something was a little off about Eddie. Eddie seemed like he had been there before. For if he had just gotten off the bus, then why was he already looking like he was ready to go for a swim? Maybe he had changed in the bus? But no, how could that be? She turned the other way after hearing a noise which sounded like a forest creature. She said to Eddie that she was interested in learning what she could about the camp, and that she would be excited to have Eddie show her around camp. But when she turned back around to get a response from Eddie. Eddie had vanished…

Leah went around asking all the children if they had ran into a kid named Eddie. They all looked at her as though she was crazy. No one knew of a Eddie that was on the list of kids that were suppose to come into the camp that day. And even if they had the way they acted towards Leah suggested that they might not have been of much help to her anyways. She was treated as though she was a outsider. And to them she was. It was her first time at Camp Moonlight. And she wanted to make a good first impression on the campers. Even though she was new, she was determined to show them that she had what it took to be a Camper at Camp Moonlight.

Leah made it to the Camp Register. The Camp Register was where not only purchases were made for camp equipment, but also where a camper would register in for the summer. Knowing where they had to go, where they were stationed at for the rest of the summer. Camp Moonlight was basically a camp that had boys on one side, and girls on the other from what Leah could see on the sign posted. She was already registered due to her mother. Her mother had already put her up in Cabin A12. On the girls' side of the lake. Leah wanted to unpack her things as soon as she could. She was eager to get started and could not wait to meet the rest of the campers. But the question was that one question on her mind that almost every camper has. How would she be treated here at Camp Moonlight? Was she going to make it okay and make it out a winner? Or was she going to have every camper hate her for the rest of the stay? She thought to herself that it was up to her. She had to make it work if it was going to work at all.

III

As she was unpacking her things, another camper by the name of Jessica came over to her and introduced herself. Jessica said that she had never met a girl like her before. She said that her boyfriend broke up with her and her mother thought that it might be good for her to branch out and go to Camp Moonlight for the summer to kind of get her mind off what had happened. Leah then told Jessica her side of things to explain why she was there. Leah said that her parents were getting a divorce after the summer and that she too was sent there to try to get her mind off of things, to try to settle her mind down and not think about it so much. That things were going to be okay.

Jessica and Leah made a good friendship bond that night as they sat talking about boys, life, and what they might expect at Camp Moonlight. Leah asked Jessica if she had felt anything odd or off about the camp since they both got to Camp Moonlight. Jessica said that she heard that the camp was supposedly haunted, but that was just a old wives tale. Jessica told Leah not to worry about a thing, and that she should just concentrate on meeting new people.

Jessica showed Leah a poster of a event that all the campers were gathering up for that night at the lake to kind of meet everyone and get to know each other. That way there would not be any tension towards any of the male or female campers. Leah said that she would be happy to join. Maybe she would meet a few new boys or something along the way. Jessica felt the same way. They decided to make a night of it and see where things went. The gathering started at 9:00pm, so they had plenty of time to gather their belongings up, get something to eat, and chill until it was time for the gathering to begin. It was also rumored that a surprise guest would be making a appearance at the camp that night as a sort of welcoming. A former member of the camp who was now the new sheriff of the town of Camp Moonlight. Sheriff Sky Cloud.

Sheriff Sky Cloud went to the camp many years ago. After losing his brother he never bothered to return until that night. Jessica and Leah wondered what made him want to return. Maybe he had a few good things to tell around the campfire that night or something from what they were both thinking. They were hoping from all that they were hearing that it was going to b e a great night. And they could not have been more right. For things were about to get very interesting indeed.

The time for the gathering had begun. Everyone gathered around the Camp's large Campfire to hear the story of how Camp Moonlight came to be. Everyone was familiar with the tale, except for two people. Leah, and Jessica. They were interested in how the camp's history came to be, and what to expect. The camp director asked Sheriff Sky Cloud to take to the log, sit down, and tell the story. He was refusing to at first because of what had happened so many years ago between him and his brother. It still haunted him to this day. But reluctantly, he said to the campers that he would tell the tale.

Sheriff Sky Cloud started out by saying to the campers that he heard the tale of Camp Moonlight a long time ago when he first came to the camp. On a night just like this with everyone gathered around. At first he didn't believe the tale, until one night when something happened that changed his life forever.

He explained that when he tried to get away from a creature so evil, so scary, that it literally shook him to his core. He didn't know what to do. That was when he stopped being a believer, and started to notice that the camp did have a life all it's own. Like we were intruding upon their land. The owners of it before Camp Moonlight was built. We were trespassing, and they wanted us out.

Leah raised her hand. And saying that she had a question. But not before apologizing to the people for interrupting. The sheriff said that it was okay, and that he would be taking any questions that anyone may have. The more questions he said that they ask, the better they will know the land. And be able to protect themselves.

Leah and Jessica thought for a moment. Protect themselves from what? That was the biggest fear of all that was in their heads. From what indeed. Something they figured was out there. Because no sooner had Sheriff Sky Cloud finished his story, he showed them the scar on his arm that the creature had given him that night. He told them that he didn't know he was injured until that night that his brother had died. The proof that something was out there was looking at everyone right in the face. Sheriff Sky Cloud said that he had the medical papers to prove what had happened that night. And that what attacked him was not of this world. But of another.

Everyone looked in amazement as the Sheriff let them look upon his deformed scar on his left arm. It was so disturbing that It made the campers shake with fear that they have never known before. Where they really, truly safe? Or was something going to try to get them too like it tried to get the sheriff so many years ago? The Sheriff told the children that there was honestly no need to worry about a creature anymore from what he thought because it had already been so many years. Or was there really a reason to worry?

The sheriff said that every ten years it comes out to feast. And it just so happened that the night it came out was on a night just like this. Dark, Full Moon, Warm night. Perfect for hunting. Hunting for campers. And…. The sheriff stopped and asked what the date was. The camp directors all said that it was June, 23rd, 1996. The Sheriff looked at the campers in shock. Everyone thought he was playing with them. But he could not have been more serious. The date for them that night of the gathering was already June 23rd, 1996. And the beast loved to feast every ten years on the 25th!

The sheriff said to the campers that he was expecting phone calls of screams in the next two nights as he laughed it off. The rest of the campers shook in fear that they were gathering really close listening to every sound in the forest around them, huddling closely to the fire, and hoping that the beast, ghost, whatever it was stalking the land didn't come out and eat them right then. For they didn't want to be it's next meal. And the fact that it's already been ten years didn't help at all much in their minds.

The sheriff got up, grabbed his drink, and headed back down to the station to get some rest. He told the campers if there were any signs of trouble to give him a call on the camp's phone line. He gave them his number as he left, and the camp director asked the sheriff if he was sure that there was nothing to worry about. The sheriff said to the director that he wasn't sure himself. But just to be on the safe side to keep all the kids in doors on the 25th. Even though it was only two days away, still, he didn't want a repeat of what happened that night. The sheriff could be seen driving out of sight that night of Camp Moonlight waving goodbye to all the campers. Leah and Jessica thought that it might be the last time they do see him, that is if the stories are all true.

IV

Jessica and Leah returned to their cabin for the night ready to get some rest. Leah didn't seem to sleep a wink that night. All that she could think about was the sheriff's scared arm. How deep the scar was. It must have gotten him all the way to the bone. No one could have survived a wound that bad. Or could they? And worse, what if the legends are true? What if a boy really did drown here at the camp? What if there really is a monster that stalks this land that the camp is on right now? Leah had her eyes open all night. Looking, Listening. Waiting for something to scare her. Her biggest fear was being eaten alive by a creature probably twenty times her size. Or worse.

Jessica was fast asleep. Leah wished she could be. Suddenly without warning, Leah heard the strangest sound coming from just outside their camp. Sounding like someone scratching at the window wanting into their cabin. With the curtains drawn she could not see who it was exactly. She was fearing that it could have been something outside wanting in that could maybe smell human flesh and was hungry. Very hungry. She laid there all night waiting for it to go away. It seemed like forever since the creature was there. But at about 4:00am it left the cabin.

Leah thought that it had enough of waiting and was going to try again. She didn't dare tell Jessica about what she had seen that night. Or should she? They were roommates after all. And by her not knowing how could she have protection against whatever might have been out there that night.

Leah thought that she would take the chance to tell Jessica what had happened to her that night. Hopefully she would believe her. Leah told Jessica what had happened, but she waited until lunch time to tell her, knowing that they would be alone at their own table she could easily tell her without the other campers knowing about it. Leah thought that it would be better that way. She didn't want to take a chance stirring up a commotion around the camp.

Jessica didn't believe Leah until that night when they returned to camp after a long day of what seemed like the longest day of their lives due to all the activities at the camp. To the girls' surprise there were what seemed to be giant claw marks on their door. As though something gave them a warning. Jessica looked at Leah and the both gasped in fear. They not only locked their doors that night, but they held it shut by putting the dresser drawers in front of the door frame in hopes of keeping whatever wanted in, out!

Leah was talking to Jessica all night about it. She could not even believe what was coming out of her mouth. But Jessica was all ears. Jessica was wondering if maybe by chance it could have been one of the boys from across the lake maybe pulling a surprise on the girls. Maybe Leah had a cute crush on the other side of the lake. Jessica ran the idea across to Leah during the conversation. Leah wasn't impressed with the idea. But she thought that if it wasn't a creature, and maybe was one of the cute boys across the lake, maybe waiting out the night to see if the so called creature would return maybe would hold some surprising results. They waited all night long. Nothing happened that night to their surprise.

The two girls wondered why the creature didn't return. Maybe one of the boys from across the lake heard what they had said and decided not to pull their prank that night or something? Jessica and Leah had to find out. They went to the boys side of the camp that afternoon after all the practice was over with and talked to a boy named Jake. Jake said that he was at the camp all night. But something did come by his camp that he wasn't too sure about. And with a strange smile he looked at both of the girls in a strange manner. The girls were not impressed one bit. They went back to their cabin wondering what the boy could have meant. But it was obvious to Leah after a while. Jake had a crush on Jessica. But all that Jessica could do since hearing about the creature was just talk about one thing. The creature. Jessica and Leah thought that they would stay up that night to find out if anything else would happen that night. Maybe the creature would return?

That night, the two girls stayed up while everyone else was asleep. They could hear something outside wrestling around in the bushes. They thought it might be one of the boys playing a prank. Jessica opened the window. To Jessica's surprise she saw a dark shadowy figure outside with green glowing eyes looking right at her. It started to snarl and move slowly towards her like it was going to eat her for lunch. She could barely move. She was frozen in fear!

Leah pulled Jessica back. Jessica admitted to Leah that there was something out there and that they all had to be warned. The two girls started to wake up the rest of the campers, but it was of no use. They all were fast asleep as thought they could not hear what was going on outside. For some reason Leah and Jessica were the only ones that could. They knew that they had to do something and fast. They pulled the dresser drawers back towards the door frame where they had it at the night before in hopes of keeping the creature out. All night long they could hear the creature outside waiting for them. They knew it must have been hungry for food. And it wanted both of the girls!

The creature was crying out loud! So loud that the girls ears were starting to burst with such pain from the screams. The creature wanted in and it was going to get in by any means necessary! Why was the creature wanting in? The girls didn't care. All that they cared about right then was being safe and hoping that the creature would just go away. That's all that they wanted. They just wanted a nice quiet night. Instead they got more than what they bargained for. The creature apparently was out for blood.

And it didn't care who it was going to take. Either one of the girls would have been fine with it. Though it seemed for a moment that it wanted both of them. The creature kept clawing and biting at the door wanting in.

Jus by chance the sunlight was coming up through the trees, and to the girls' surprise the creature was gone. They thought that they should both talk to the camp councilor to find out more about the creature, now knowing that there was a creature. But were they going to find the help they wanted? Or were they going to find something worse? They couldn't take a chance no more. They needed help, and the camp councilor seemed to be the only one that knew just about as much information about the creature as the sheriff did. If anyone was going to know how to stop the creature of Moonlight Lake, the camp councilor had to.

They approached the camp councilor unsure of what to say. The camp councilor told them to come in. He then told them to sit down and have a seat. For he knew why they were there to see him. He told them that just like before so many others have come to see him about the creature of Moonlight Lake. And he was ready for questions. But were the girls ready to hear the answers?

As the Camp Councilor sat down he told them not to be afraid. That he wasn't going to hurt them. They were in fact in friendly company. And they had questions, and he had the answers. He asked them first if they were bitten or scratched by the creature. The two girls replied they were not scratched.

V

But just afraid. The camp councilor told them that they should be afraid. For this creature was not of our world. But of the Other World. The Other World in which the shamanic Indian Tribes called Windigo Spirits. Creatures that would take human form or some other form. Some form that someone would find absolutely terrifying, and use it to their advantage to bring them to their world. The victims would then be trapped and used as food for the creatures. From what the councilor was always told.

The girls said that they saw it the other night. And that Leah saw it the night before. They were not sure of what to make of it. But they wondered why it could not get in when they blocked the door with the dresser. And why no one else could hear it or see it. The councilor told them that was because it was only after them. He figured from w hat they were telling him that they were targets. And that they should be careful. For if you are a target of this creature, it will find out where you are sooner or later. And it will destroy you. There is no hiding from it. Hardly anyone survives. From what the councilor told them.

Jessica said to the councilor "Hardly anyone survives?"

The councilor replied back to Jessica nodding his head and saying that only one person had survived. And that was the sheriff. He survived years ago. Although he doesn't like to tell the tale much, he does like to scare the camp kids with it every year. He's not much of a talker since his brother died due to the creature. But I’m sure that if you talk to him too, you may be able to get some more answers. And if you girls want to come see me anytime, you can. You always have a friend to count on with me. For my door is always open.

The girls felt relieved that they had someone in the camp that they could count on after all. And who else would believe the two girls that they saw a Windigo? No one hardly. They thought that they should keep the news of what they knew between themselves and the camp councilor. No one else.

Jessica talked to Leah that afternoon about maybe going to go talk to the Sheriff. Maybe he could shed some more light on the subject. Leah thought that it was a good idea. But first, she wanted proof of somehow they could show the Sheriff that they were not crazy. Jessica went back to the cabin and took a picture of the deep claw mars in the cabin's side. She said that the claw marks should do. Maybe since they appear to be about the same thing as what's on his arm then maybe he would believe them.

They went off that afternoon down the road to go see the sheriff. Leah and Jessica were talking on the way of who this creature may be. If he could take human form Jessica thought, maybe just by chance he was some hot guy with abs of a god. Jessica's mouth started to drool as she thought about the endless possibilities that her mind was coming up with. Leah had to jab Jessica hard in the side just to make her wake up from her day dream fantasies of a hot lover that she seemed to be so desperately craving for what seemed like forever by how she was talking about this subject.

They knocked on the sheriff's office door. There was no one answering. They knocked again even harder. Leah wondered if there was anyone inside. She asked Jessica to check the windows to see if anyone was inside. Maybe a deputy or something. They just had to talk to the sheriff that day. The two girls didn't see any patrol car anywhere on the lot. So they thought that they would wait for the patrol car to return. Hopefully they could talk to the sheriff and get some more answers. Jessica felt safe around the sheriff's station because of the lighting. She thought that maybe whatever was out there wouldn't attack them during the day. And if the night time came at least they would know that the lights were coming on that night to help them feel safe. But the biggest question on both their minds at that time was, would they be safe?

Jessica and Leah talked for what seemed to be hours about life, mostly boys in general. Leah said that she use to have a boyfriend. But he died years ago in a car accident and hadn't been dating since. And as it turned out, the same had went for Jessica. Both girls seemed to have a lot in common and didn't even know it until they talked. They were both surprised at how much they had in common. It amazed both of them. They then said that they use to live not far from here. And as it turned out. They lived in the same neighborhood, on the same block. How they never knew it until then at that current time was even a mystery even to them. But they were happy that they had met at Camp Moonlight. Meeting each other made being at Camp Moonlight much better. And safer in a way. They were wondering though with the night fast approaching if they could get back into camp moonlight. Jessica said that she knew of a back way that one of the girls told her about when she first came to camp. One of her old friends' would be hanging out with a guy doing only God knows what out by the old path. Jessica thought that maybe she was giving him something special every night due to the fact that she would always come back with extra cash in her pockets. But that was only a fantasy in her mind. Jessica seemed to have fantasies often about that stuff from what Leah thought.

Just as it got dark, the sheriff's car came back around 7:00am. The sheriff got out of the car. The sheriff was very surprised that both of the girls were sitting there at the front door just waiting for him to show up. Both of the girls asked him if they could come inside for a minute and talk to him about something. The sheriff knew that they were probably talking about the creature. And the sheriff said to them that they should come inside for it wasn't safe out there at night. Not even for him. He asked them to come inside, and then he locked the door behind them.

"Now, how may I help you girls tonight? There must be a reason why you came to me tonight?". Said the sheriff with a curious sound in his voice.

Leah and Jessica both spoke up at the same time. Jessica apologized to Leah and said that Leah could speak first. For it was important that the news be told. Leah started to tell the sheriff about what had been happening for several nights at the camp. She said that she first saw the creature maybe two nights after coming to the camp. She didn't know of the stories until the next morning after some campers were talking about something strange lurking around the lake.

The sheriff looked at both of the girls and asked them to follow him. For he had something to show them. The sheriff and the two girls went down to the cellar where the sheriff had all of his supplies. The sheriff then unlocked a hidden wall that lead down to a hidden passage way underneath the police station. He told the girls that he made it because he wasn't sure what was out there anymore. He didn't want to take a chance. Or have people believe he was crazy. He had to make sure that he was going to be okay in case something were to happen. He was just waiting for the right time. Leah and Jessica both asked about what the right time meant. The sheriff replied "To kill the creature". To kill the very thing that took his brother so many years ago.

VI

Where the girls stood at the front door was the very spot where his brother had died in his arms. He could never forget that night. For it was still fresh in the sheriff's mind.

When the two girls and the sheriff went down to the basement and went into the passage way they entered what seemed to be a huge armory. Full of surprises for what seemed to be for catching big game. And big game was right. The sheriff was ready for this thing. He had to be getting ready for years.

He had everything from bear traps to what seemed like tank armored vehicles. Only someone really dedicated or crazy would have something like this. Or someone Hell Bent on revenge. The girls stood in amazement as what they saw next would soon bring back the memories of the beast. The very creature they saw. The sheriff showed them a picture of the creature.

The sheriff said that they creature is what some would call a Windigo. Something that can take the form of anything or any animal, or human being that it wishes to possess or capture. It is something dangerous and needs to be put down! The sheriff said that he was sorry to both of the girls for getting them involved with the creature due to the story at first. The girls said that it was okay. But it seemed to favor the girls side of the camp more. The sheriff said surprisingly with a grin "Because it's a male creature" I would suspect. It favors the opposite. The females. It's looking for something. Maybe a mate?

The girls looked at each other in shock! If it was looking for a mate, then maybe it was looking for one of them? Or both of them! They could not take a chance. The sheriff said to them that there was a victim before. A young boy who died years ago back in the 1950's. He was reportedly the first victim of the creature that stalked Moonlight Lake. And sadly, would not be the last.

The two girls said that if he was a victim, then maybe the creature isn't male after all, but choosing it's victims. The sheriff said that it could be so. But he was not going to take any chances. He was going to see this creature dead. One way or another. Dead as a door nail! It had already done too much damage. Even to him. He then asked the girls if they had ever shot a gun before. Preferably a 357 Magnum. Both the girls said no. The sheriff said that it was okay, he would teach them. He would get them ready for if the beast returned.

He said that the bullets that the guns take are not regular bullets, but specially made bullets to lure away evil spirits. Holy Water worked the best. The girls took one bullet each out of the chamber of the weapon and looked at it. They could see the Holy Water inside the bullet. The sheriff told them that when they explode on contact the creature is sure to run. He said for them to always have the ammunition ready just in case the creature decides to maybe take one of the two girls.

The girls loaded up as best they could. Then the sheriff took them to the shooting range he had made inside the station. He said for them not to worry. For no one could hear the gun fire from where they were. He said that he wanted to be left alone when practicing. It was the best way for him to hone in his skills. Both the girls took aim at their targets. Just barely hitting them.

The sheriff told them to aim down their sights and gently pull the trigger for better accuracy. The girls pulled the trigger as instructed, and hit the target dead aim!

They were impressed. The sheriff said that with a couple of more shots like that the girls were ready to face whatever came in their way. And as a added precaution he handed them concealed carry permits. Just in case someone asked about the weapons. He then asked them if they had safe places to store them. They both said no. So the sheriff gave them small gun cases to place underneath their beds at night for easy reach in case the creature may attack the camp site. He didn't want to take no chances. And neither did the two girls.

The sheriff said that at the camp they needed to be careful. The spirit of the young boy was still out there somewhere always luring people to their deaths around the lake. The two girls thought to themselves immediately that it was great that they had to worry about a creature. Now they had to worry about a ghost too? The sheriff reminded them that the Windigo could take many forms. And to always be on their guard.

The two girls then told the sheriff about the camp councilor. The sheriff said that they could trust him. He was actually partners with the camp councilor and that's how he was able to keep a eye on Camp Moonlight all that time. He had eyes and ears inside the camp at all times due to the camp councilor. He was also a medicine doctor as well. So if the sheriff ever needed anything medicine wise he could always go to him. He was a great friend. He told the girls that he could be trusted. But however, do watch out for any signs of foul play. Any at all. For something didn't feel right at the camp this year from what he felt. And he knew that the girls could feel the same.

The girls again thanked sheriff Sky Cloud and headed back to camp thanks to the sheriff giving them a ride. They felt safe that at least someone out there didn't think they were crazy for what they had seen. The sheriff said that he would be back in a couple of nights to tell another tale of the creature to the coming new campers. Registration Day was soon ending, and the camp was expecting more campers. Be it boys or girls the sheriff didn't know. He was just told that there would be more campers arriving soon and to be ready. He said that he would be. And he thanked the girls again for their time that night. And for the extra help that they would be providing him and the camp councilor.

The sheriff headed back to the station, and the girls walked back to their cabin exhausted. They put their new weapons quietly under their beds, and waited for any sound of the creature. They wanted to sleep in shifts so they would be much better protected that night. And they didn't blame each other either. For if this creature was as dangerous as the sheriff said it was. Then the girls needed to be on their guard at all times.

The new set of campers arrived the next night, and the girls were kind of shy of meeting the new comers, seeing as how they were new comers themselves. They didn't want to give the new comers the wrong impressions either of the camp, or the knowledge that something dark and sinister was going on there at the camp to easily scare them away, or cause a mass panic. The girls thought that they would let the sheriff come by later and do that for the girls, since he knew more about the camp than anyone else did. Well, that and the councilors. They both giggled with smiles on their faces. They could not wait to see the new comers faces as the sheriff would be telling his tale.

After dinner that night, everyone gathered around the camp fire waiting for the sheriff to come by and tell his tales. They were all excited, and wondered what kind of tale he would be telling tonight. They didn't know anything which they thought that would be great, because they loved surprises, and they hated to give away surprises, even to the new comers.

VII

A vehicle slowly pulled up. But it wasn't the sheriff's car. Instead the car looked more like a possessed hearse rather than a patrol car. What would a hearse be doing showing up at the camp? Everyone was wondering in amazement as they saw the hearse immediately stop in front of the camp councilor, the spooky mist coming out from under the red glow of the undercarriage of the car gave a pretty good hint that it wasn't playing games, and it wanted something to do with the camp councilor! Was it out to take the camp councilor away? Everyone just watched in shock as the driver side door unlocked. The sound of the door coming undone from the car suddenly gave notice to a black boot belonging to someone stepping out of the hearse. They didn't know who it was. All that they could see was the foot and the spooky red smoke now clearly seen. They suddenly seen a figure of a body coming out of the smoke from the hearse. It was the sheriff dressed like a Midnight Rider. Or a spooky undertaker ready to take someone with him back to the grave yard.

Everyone's hearts were still racing as they were still in shock from what had just happened with the hearse. The sheriff said that he was sorry if he startled anyone. He said that he was ready for the night's story. And this one was going to be great. The rest of the campers could not help but see his arm, and the disturbing claw mark that was left upon it from what seemed to be a bear attack. Or by a very large animal.

The sheriff sat down taking a drink of hot chocolate. He asked everyone around the fire if they ever heard the story of The Beast of Moonlight Lake. Almost all of the campers said yes. But the new comers replied no. The sheriff smiled and said "Well, it's going to be your lucky night. Have I got a treat for you lucky few…"

"Now then…. The sheriff started off… I suppose your all wondering why I am dressed like this. Well, I wanted to see how many of you were awake tonight. Because I can promise you that after I'm done you all will be awake all night long. See, the story of Camp Moonlight began more than back in 1947. Way before the camp was built. This land use to be a Native American burial ground. Yep, that's right campers. A Native American burial ground. Now, I know that some of you have heard that Native American burial grounds are all haunted and not suppose to be built upon. Well, that's true! No one should ever build upon it. But the original owners of this camp didn't care. You see, we are not the original owners of this camp.

No sir! The original owners sold us this camp because they didn't want it anymore. I could not imagine why not. Well, let's just say that we later found it to be haunted. That's why they wanted to sell it to us so quickly. That's why they left in such a hurry after they sold it to us they were gone like a flash! We have never heard from them again!

Even I was surprised when my brother, the former sheriff of this town (Great Grandfather rest his soul), gave his very life to protect the town, and the camp. He too knew about the bad deal that went on between the new camp owners, and the former camp owners. The new camp owners sadly didn't know what they were getting into. And that's why I usually guard the camp like I do. I want to make sure that you all stay safe as possible.

One of the campers who was a new comer asked what was out there. What could possibly harm them? The sheriff said to them that there were a lot of things out there that could harm them. And they had to be on their guard at all times.

Even he did! For one wrong move, and the campers could be Beast Food! If they wanted to be beast food so bad then all that they had to do was to stay up at night and make as much noise as possible, and the sheriff said that he could promise that the beast would be tracking them down as fast as it could. And that it always got it's meal. There was no hiding from the beast once it found out where you were. That monster had a track record that was never broken! And the sheriff swore to that. Well, the sheriff might have been the only one to escape. And he to this day still thinks that the beast let him live to tell the tale. To let other people know that it's out there. And he is walking proof.

The sheriff showed the kids his scar. It ran deep, and it looked like it covered most of his arm. He said that he was lucky that night to get away from the beast when it nearly killed him! He was lucky enough to run away with just his arm having a scratch. And that if the monster wanted to it could have killed him and ate him that night. But his brother also played a very important key role in that effect. He made sure that he was safe. His brother was the one that died due to the beast. There wasn't anything he could have done from the beast attacking his older brother. He vowed that night that he would put a stop to the beast and it's killing. Somehow, someday. He would take the mantle that his brother had and make sure that the beast would pay for what it had done. He was going to make sure of it.

The campers all looked again closely at his arm, fearing that they too could be having the same scar, or worse if they were to provoke the beast. They were all silent after the sheriff was finished with his story fearing that the beast may be out there right now due to the fact that it was dark, and on a night like that night, it would have been a perfect time for the monster to strike any one of those campers. Even the new ones.

After the sheriff was done, he got back in the hearse, made a few more loud noises freaking out the campers, every one of them, and making as much noise as he could he headed out of the camp site making the kids think that the beast would hear him, and come after them if it could not catch the sheriff's hearse.

The campers went back to their cabins as quietly as they could listening to every sound that the camp had to make. Even hearing Elizabeth eating her dark chocolate doughnuts in the background as they walked. The two girls, Jessica and Leah just rolled their eyes and giggled at each other thinking they were just scared too from the sheriff's story as Elizabeth was. Once back at the camp, the campers locked their door, and tucked into bed. Not before quietly listening to every noise outside that they could hear. Thinking that one of the noises could have been the beast coming to eat everyone in the camp. Jessica and Leah wondered how the boys side was doing that night. Turned out the boys side of the lake wasn't doing much better than the girls was doing. For they too feared the stories that the sheriff had told them. Seeing his arm just brought back memories for them. They too locked their doors and wondered if the monster was going to be coming for them too.

While the rest of the campers were asleep, the camp councilor and the rest of the senior staff did the same thing, and they too were having the same effects as the kids were. They thought too what the other owners of the place had done to provoke such a evil creature to their camp.

Shaking, cold, and in fear, all the campers, including the staff went to bed for the night as best as they could. None of them managed to sleep a wink that night. And the next morning would prove that.

VIII

With none of the other campers able to sleep from the previous night of the sheriff's visit, the rest of the camp made up their minds that it would be a great idea to just have a nice relaxing day. However one of the camp senior staff was on a mission to find out and do some background digging with two female campers, Jessica and Leah. They too wanted to know the rest of the history of the camp. They wanted to know what the other owners of the camp experienced.

They managed to find old archives of the camp hidden away in a storage shed just south of the camp. It was filled with old videos of what some campers had taken on their previous experiences. Just like a video journal. The campers and the staff were very surprised about the journals entries too. They were very old, and back dated. But there was a written document that was dated back in 1898, during the Old West gold mining days. The entry said that someone had found a piece of land that there was supposedly gold on. And it just turned out to be the very spot that the camp was built upon. Unfortunately the land's mining operation stopped when they found graves of buried Native American tribes. Fearing that they desecrated tribal land and was fearing war with the nearby native tribes, they covered every one of them back up. But it did no good. Two nights after the events took place, the land started to take on a life of it's own. Of spirits, creatures, things that would haunt your dreams for the rest of your life!

By the next morning all the miners were dead. Every one. There were no survivors! All of them had their flesh eaten off, skin torn from the bone as though a knife had sliced off the skin and left no trace. "No creature could have done that to someone, could they?" One of the campers thought as they read the journal. They kept reading more. Upon the deaths of the remaining miners, one of them managed to survive. With his own blood he was able to pen the words they were reading right then. For the last words, he was only able to write the words… STAY AWAY!

The fools who managed to buy the land didn't know of it's curse. From what one of the campers said. The camp councilor agreed with them. He too was now in more fear than he had ever been of being at Camp Moonlight. He just wanted one thing. Out of there!

Bolting out of the door running for his life fearing the worst, the Councilor ran to the lake. There he made the biggest mistake of his life. Even during the day, all the campers are told not to go down to the lake. For things happen down there that some people cannot imagine. The Camp Councilor went down there and forgot just that. To not go down to the lake! In doing so he immediately was at the lake's mercy! The camp councilor looked into the lake. Before he could even scream, a hand which looked like it belonged to a watery creature rose up out of the lake grabbing the Camp Councilor's head and pulling him into the lake with such great force that the Councilor wasn't able to make it back to the surface of Camp Moonlight!

The rest of the campers screamed bloody murder and ran for the nearest cabin. They locked the door and stayed there for the longest time. Fearing that they would be next, they slept in shifts. As one of the night watchmen were out there they could hear something moving around. Fearing that it was the lake creature that pulled the Camp Councilor into the lake he leaned up against the door so that the creature could not be let in. The door made a violent jolt as whatever was on the other side was trying to get in. And from the feeling of the door moving, whatever wanted into the cabin wanted something, or someone really bad. And it wasn't going to stop obviously until it got what it wanted!

The others awoke to the same noise of the creature trying to break in. They all held the door shut together while the others held the windows shut. They were now all fearing for their lives! Holding both the door and the windows shut was not going to work for long. They had to do something. One of the students managed to smuggle into the camp a sawed off shotgun. She had ammunition to it. She loaded the gun, then told everyone to stand back. She let out a loud yell, then pulled the trigger.

The gun went off and the creature was screaming in pain. It ran off into the night. However, everyone was wondering how a 13 year old girl could get her hands on a sawed off shotgun. The Camp's Staff told her that they didn't care at the time where she got it. The fact is that it saved their lives. In order to make sure that all the camp was safe, they would have to now make sure that all the boys, and the girls were safe. They waited until the next day to make sure that it was okay to come out of the cabin. They had food and supplies in the cabin that they were in so it was not a problem for them to stay another night. They wanted to make sure that everyone was okay. They felt as though they had been trapped inside for hours, but really it was only one afternoon, and one night. Waiting another night wasn't going to hurt them in the least. After all like they all thought. It was better to be safe than sorry.

As dawn approached for the next day, they got out of the cabin. Fearing that the thing may be outside Jessica and Leah went to their cabin and grabbed the guns that the sheriff gave to them for protection. The camp staff wanted everyone to meet at the middle of the camp as soon as possible. They said for everyone to gather together at that spot immediately. They feared that the creature would strike again, and they had to be ready. They could not take any chances this time. They just couldn't!

The camp members, campers, and everyone there gathered again at the same site that they wanted to gather at before. Right between the boys and girls camps to make sure everyone had made it. They wanted to come up with a plan to be ready for the monster when it returned. But some of the campers feared that it was going to take more than just a few clever traps to end the camp's dread. They might need outside help. And if they were going to need outside help, they were going to need it fast.

The local tribes had all fled the area and were not planning on coming back anytime soon. So who could they call? The landline was cut. The one connecting the camp to the outside world. For some reason that was never fixed, so all the students had were their cell phones. But all that their cell phones could get maybe was only one bar or two for service. Keep in mind that it being 1996 cell phones were not all that common place yet. And the chances that someone was going to come to their rescue was slim at best.

The campers decided that the best way that they would defend themselves was that they were going to make a small fort for defense around the camp. They started cutting down trees, using their cabins and making a small fort to place their weapons through port holes so that they had a good offense and defense for when the creature returned.

IX

Leah and Jessica were practicing their shooting techniques. They knew that they were going to need everything that they had in order to get ready for this creature when it returned. And the most important thing on their minds was, "When" it returned. It had not had a meal in several nights so the chances of it being hungry was a given. They knew this. They just hoped that the creature was hungry for ammunition this time rather than human beings. They were going to find a way to stop it. Somehow.

Before darkness fell upon the camp, the fort was ready. Campers, Staff Members, all got ready their weapons, food, anything that they needed. They were going to find a way to rid themselves of the camp's plight forever. If the Natives couldn't get rid of the creature so many years ago, they would find a way. They had to.

Sitting in position, weapons drawn, loaded, and ready, the campers all sat, waiting for the creature to make a noise. It all seemed to obvious. They wondered where the sheriff was too. Was the sheriff taking the day off? Was he going to show up at all? As the tension mounted, and the heavy breathing of anticipation for the creature came closer the campers tried not to let their imaginations run away with themselves.

Just as one of the campers trigger fingers got tired of waiting on the trigger they heard the sheriff pull up on his patrol car. They were happy to see him. The Staff Members wondered if he was ever going to show up. The sheriff said that he was sorry about being late. He wanted to make sure that he was going to be able to grab a few things before coming over there to help them face the creature of Moonlight Lake.

The sheriff showed them all the new tech that he had just laying around. He figured if the campers were going to have a fighting chance then he wanted to make sure that they had a fighting chance for sure.

For even the sheriff wanted to see the camp be rid of the awful creature too that took his brother from him so many years ago.

The sheriff managed to get his hands on some machine guns, turrets, and put them into place. It was going to be like WWII all over again. But this time, with more of a cooler feeling to it from what the sheriff and the other campers were thinking. They wanted to make sure that the creature didn't come back.

The sheriff also got a hold of some Holy Relics from the nearby church thinking that would solve the problem. Hopefully it would. He even managed to bring some snacks. If this thing was going to go down, the first thing the sheriff knew that they had to do is to do what they were doing right now. Be ready. Be prepared. And be strong. Apparently from what the sheriff had seen the campers do is having enough of the creatures terrorizing attacks. They wanted the creature gone. The new campers were even just as scared as the veteran campers. It was no surprise that everyone was scared. Whoever came across this thing was lucky enough to survive a few times. Including the sheriff!

They sat, and they waited….

The laser turrets were ready, moving around just waiting for something to move. The campers were doing the same thing. Waiting for something to move from the bushes around the camp. They didn't want to take any chances. The lake was quiet too. No sounds could be heard. The beast must have been watching them. It must have known what they were up to. So they had to take the precaution that the beast was smarter than what they made it out to be the first time around.

The sheriff looked around using a sniper scope. Seeing something move around in the bushes near the boys camp site he gave a warning shot with his rifle. Whatever it was moved off. The sheriff thought that it could have been just a rabbit looking for a midnight snack. Or at least that's honestly what he hoped it was. Just a rabbit.

They waited some more through the night. Not a sound was heard. Some of the campers were beginning to fall asleep. Including the staff members. Suddenly without a warning they heard something on the fort's roof! The sounds of claw marks, digging, scratching, snarling, like something was trying to get in to get to them like a unopened can of food for a animal. To them at that moment they were the food. And whatever was on top was the can opener. They were trapped inside. The sheriff wondered why the turrets were not working. Maybe the turrets couldn't see the creature? He checked the system. He was right. The creature was on top of the roof, but the turrets could not see it!

The sheriff thought that he had placed the turrets at the right angle so that if anything was to make it onto the roof of the structure that they would have a way for defense. In some cases he would have been right. But this time, he was unlucky. The sheriff was going to have to risk it from what he thought to fix the turrets. But from what his equipment was showing the turrets were working just fine. There was nothing wrong with them. Or so he could see. But the turrets were still not doing their job. The thing that was clawing it's way through like a can opener was about to come through and kill everyone in the camp. He had to do something. It was only a matter of time now!

One of the campers asked for the sheriff to move over. She thought she could help with the situation. She knew a lot about computers, and she was sure she could program the laser turret to lock onto the creature in time to save all the campers. She made the laser turret do a infrared lock, then a thermal lock. Last she programmed a spectral lock on the turrets. It had worked. The turrets could now see what was attacking the campers. It was not one, but three creatures all the same species. Spectral Creatures hell bent on one thing. Ridding the land of the campers. The laser turrets locked on the creatures opening fire making the creatures run back into the woods!

The sheriff thanked the young girl. He wondered how she knew about so much of technology. She said that she graduated from MIT. She may have looked young, but she was actually one of the new camp staff that was on call that night because one of the other staffers had been sick all summer long. She was the replacement. The sheriff was glad that she was there. However, the other campers had curious looks on their faces.

They had not seen her before. Where did she come from? She said to them all that her name was Eve. As in Christmas Eve. Eve was all smiles. But still, where did she come from? And who was sick that needed a replacement camp staff member?

X

The camp staff looked at each other too wondering when she slipped in. They had not seen her around on the staff list. And she seemed to come in right at the last minute. Eve said that she was sorry about slipping in at the last minute but her car had broken down on the way there and she had to catch a ride to town just to get to the camp. She said that she would have called too, but her phone was out of service just passed the mountain range. Everyone bought her story, except for one of the camp staff members. Something wasn't right. And if one of the camp staff members were sick or something they would have received a phone call as usual and it was mandatory that all staff members report illness either before camp begins, or even after just so that they know if a replacement is coming.

Eve was small. So the camp staff figured that the only reason why they didn't see her was because of her size. Maybe she fit in with the rest of the campers and they didn't see her? Or maybe she came on the bus, and just didn't want to say anything to anyone. Still, she was suspicious. And one staff member Karl kept a good eye on her. Karl was the head staff member.

Karl was able to get to his office and contact the main building that helped out with organizing the camp. Karl wanted to know why one of his staff members were late and he wanted to know the truth. He gave the camps staff member's name. He said that Eve had just arrived this morning, after we had a few incidence here at the camp. The head building was quite aware of the situation, although they were keeping it all on the down low for the town's sake, and theirs as well.

Karl still asked the same questions. How could a staff member be arriving early. And who called in sick. The head building replied back two hours later to Karl that no one had called in sick. And that there was no Eve on file for their staff members. Karl knew that something was wrong immediately. And he had to keep his eye on Eve.

The rest of the camp councilors and campers also were wondering the same thing about Eve. She didn't seem like the type of person that would belong there at the camp. Even they had their suspicions of Eve. Jessica and Leah also thought the same thing. They thought that they would go talk to Karl about it. And so did the other staff members.

Karl invited them all into his office, Jessica, Leah, the remaining camp staff, but Eve waited outside sitting on a bench. Eve was wondering what they were all talking about. She couldn't hear anything through the door because the door was sound proof. The head camp staff member wanted it that way so at least he would have privacy in his office at times for safety reasons like this.

Inside they were all in discussion about what to do about Eve. She was not showing up at any camp registry, and she sure didn't come in on the buses. She might have been a imposter posing as a camp staff member from what they thought. They thought that for the time being that they would play it safe and see what she does. Maybe she will just go away in time from what most of them thought. But Leah, Jessica, and Karl thought otherwise. Why would this woman be here now? And right after the monsters attacked? Something was fishy about the entire situation. Too fishy…

They all exited the office and didn't even bother to look at Eve. They just kept walking and talking to each other as if Eve had not shown up at all. Karl called Eve into his office. He was going to just play it cool to see what Eve would do. He told Eve that everything had checked out at the main headquarters and that she was good to go. Karl gave her a badge, and made sure that she was on her way. She was given instructions to monitor the girls camp. Eve said that she would do that.

Karl, knowing better by design, figured that he would let Leah and Jessica in on what was going on entirely since they were friends with the sheriff. He had to trust someone around there. And he sure could not trust Eve. Something had to be done. Karl told Leah and Jessica what was going on. They all agreed that Eve would be watched at all times.

Karl didn't want anything happening without his knowledge. And if trouble was to arise, he said that they all make it back to the fort. That fort was their only defense for Camp Moonlight at that time. They all knew it.

While at the camp Eve was walking around acting a little strange. Leah and Jessica knew something was up. Leah wondered if Eve might be one of the lost spirits that she's been hearing from the sheriff about. The story goes that some of the spirits can take human form and walk the land of Moonlight lake as they pleased because it was ancient Holy Ground. Eve might have been one of those spirits! Leah and Jessica had to find out. They had to know.

They confronted Eve that night. Eve was walking along singing something to herself like a Harpy. It was odd indeed how things were going at this camp. They were going to approach her and ask her some questions. But before they could get close, her eyes started to glow a red glow as she sang louder and louder. All the camp members on the females side of the camp started to get up like they were in a trance. Leah was packing her weapon. She aimed right at Eve. Told her to stop the singing or she was going to open fire. The singing continued, and Eve hit the ground after just one shot to the head with a Holy Water Shell from Leah's Holy Revolver that the sheriff gave to her as a gift to help keep her safe.

Eve's head exploded on contact with the shell. Making a huge mess around the spot where she once stood. Her body hit the ground and she was gone. Eve's body evaporated into dust. Leah thought to herself that she was right not to trust her. Something was off. And this camp was only playing minor games with everyone at the moment. She hated to see what the grand finale would be like.

Leah made sure that all the campers went back to their beds. She would have to report back to Karl in the morning what she had seen, and what had happened. Leah was now scared for everyone. What was everyone to do? Everyone was in danger now. It was now clear that Camp Moonlight had just become the number one haunted camp in the county of Moonlight Bay. Now the campers had something to fear. Being ready was their only choice. After Leah and Jessica made sure all the campers went back to their cabins after the incident with Eve, Leah went to the head camp staff member Karl and told him of the situation that had happened on the camp grounds. Karl wasn't too surprised that it was a trick by the evil spirits of the lake. He figured that they might try to do more. He wanted to be ready. This time around he managed to gather more ammunition. One of the students was able to get more bars on his phone. He told the camp councilor that he could get a clear signal from one of the open spots. And that maybe they could call for help. Karl thought that it was a good idea. But who would believe them. Not leaving their side, the sheriff was also making sure everything was ready. Jack Sky Cloud was going to make sure that whatever was haunting the lake, the land, and the campers wasn't going to haunt them anymore.

XI

Leah wondered where Jack got all of his weapons, and also all of his equipment. Jack claimed that he liked the paranormal. And that he would find out how to make things. So in his spare time he would make paranormal equipment and weapons to hunt the thing. Mostly online videos to show him how to make them. He loved his hobby. Especially now that his hobby was going to be taking on the actual spirit that killed his older brother many years ago. He could not wait to get his hands on that one especially!

Jack made sure everything was ready for that night. He made it to where the fort was programmable to operate from a distance so he could be safer with the campers inside their cabins instead of everyone huddled together in one place. He thought that it might be safer that way. Also the fort was turned into a turret itself, so if anything came about it would find whatever was making the disturbances and take it out as needed. Jack was sure that it was going to work. With the help of his new friend who knew more about equipment of that nature than he did he was sure that things were going to go much smoother now.

Jessica was getting ready too. She dawned combat gear, holy water, and a crucifix. She wasn't going to let the beasts scare her away. It was time to take revenge. And she was going to make sure that she had hers. For Jessica had a secret that she had not told anyone at camp. Something she wanted to keep hidden.

She didn't want anyone to know that she was actually a long lost relative of Sheriff Sky Cloud. And that she too was going to avenge his brother's death any way she could. She was afraid that if she was to reveal herself, the spirits might target her next, then she might never get her chance for revenge. She wanted to make the beasts and monsters pay too. Whatever these things were, be it Windigo, Spirits, Beasts, Monsters. She was not playing. She wanted to make sure that the camp had piece. And that the rest of the campers could finally have a good summer.

Everyone was just about ready. Ready for bed that night. They had been so busy during the day preparing it looked like World War III outside! They didn't want the outside world to know what they were doing either, so sheriff Sky Cloud made sure to tell everyone that there was a Military Exorcize going on. He thought that would throw everyone off guard about what was going on at the camp. Maybe they would have better luck on their own after all if the outside world was to stay away from it. Containing the creatures was the only way to manage to destroy them. It had to be done.

With everyone finally asleep in their cabins and back to bed that night, they didn't want a repeat of what had happened the other previous nights. This time they were ready. Making sure to work their butts off all day long to make sure the camp was safe almost every camper was sleepy as could be. They felt safe though with the plan that they had made for the creatures.

That night at the stroke of ten, the spirits started to walk out of the lake one by one. Looking like zombie-like creatures. Decaying and dead looking! They tried to get on land but the turrets were targeting them immediately. They had trouble getting on land. Suddenly they made all the machines short circuit. No one knew what was going on outside. Now the spirits were free to roam the land undetected.

These spirits looked like they were from the old days for sure. Native American's that once possessed the land. And they wanted their land back! They started by going into the cabins a little at a time making things move trying to get a rouse out of the campers to scare them off. They were sound asleep. One of the campers were levitated off the bed about a few feet and thrown into the wall opposite them! The other campers woke up from the noise to see undead ghostly zombie-like figures of dead Native Americans haunting them. They all screamed in a panic!

The camper that was thrown got up and looked in shock as he saw one of the ghostly figures grab another camper and toss him out the door into the lake. The nature of the throw was almost unbelievably impossible! But there went the camper.

He was gone! Gone to the ghostly figures. They tried to take more campers as they could with them. With all the campers running trying not to get grabbed it made it hard for the ghostly figures to grab them and hurl them to their deaths.

Leah was being chased by a ghostly figure as well. She had a hard time keeping a distance because every time she looked back there would be a ghostly figure behind her that seemed to be catching up to her! She was about to fall when suddenly she heard a shot. A gunshot! It was Jessica with her hand gun. She was a great aim with it too. And Leah was thankful. Leah managed to grab her weapon too. But with only a few shots they could not take out all the ghostly figures at one time. And what happened to the beasts? Jessica was thinking that maybe there were no beasts. Maybe it was the spirits that were making themselves look like beasts so that they would get scared and leave the camp forever. Leah thought that it was not a bad idea. And maybe that was what was going on.

Out of the lake suddenly came a big surprise to Sheriff Sky Cloud. His brother came out of the lake! The sheriff stood and looked in amazement due to not seeing his brother for many years. He looked decayed as the day that the beast and taken his life. Jack's brother warned him to run. That it was not safe there at the camp. And that all the campers were in danger. Jack knew, and he told his brother that he didn't care about the warning. That he had a plan. Jack's older brother repeated again. Then disappeared back into the lake. It scared Jack to his core!

Jack could not believe his eyes as to what he had just seen. His brother! Could it have been that all this time that his brother's soul was not taken to the Great Grandfather? If so, Jack knew in his heart that he had to somehow help his brother. But how?

All that Jack knew at that moment was that his brother was trapped within the lake, and he needed to be freed. Somehow he would have to help his brother. Quickly Jack had a idea. If they got rid of the evil that was haunting the lake, maybe just by chance his brother could be freed and the curse of Moonlight Lake would be over. But how?

Jack had to think for a moment. It wasn't going to be easy. They might have been needing outside help all along. Jack knew of this old shaman that lived far from the town. He was a old man who didn't want to be bothered at all. To bother him would maybe anger the spirit within him. Did Jack really want to take that chance? Jack thought to himself that he had no choice. He had to take a chance. Not just for his brother. But for everyone that was captured at Moonlight Lake.

Jack Sky Cloud got in his police cruiser and travelled as fast as he could out of town to seek out the old man. He wondered if all that time that the old man might still be alive. He feared the worst. Because the old man was already old to begin with when Jack was young, Jack feared that by now the old man might be dead.

XII

Jack started to ask around the town of Moonlight if anyone might know of the old man that lived around the county of Moonlight Bay. Only one person knew. And that was someone of a unlikely source! Jack's old man himself. Jack would have to go to the old folks home across town to talk to his father. One of the elderly gentleman told Jack that long ago his father Jack Sky Cloud Sr., knew of a old man that lived beyond the ridge of the town. He knew how to stop the creatures and evil things that haunt the land of Moonlight Lake. But to get to him would be foolish now it seemed to Jack. But none the less, Jack had to try. The elderly man said to Jack that the only person that knew of the old man's location was Jack's old man himself. He was the only one in town that had ever made it to see the old man. Him and the old man use to go way back. Why didn't Jack know of any of this? Did his old man want to keep it a secret from him for a reason?

Jack thought back to his brother. He thought that maybe if he knew all those years ago he would go looking for revenge if he really knew what was going on. Maybe that's why his father didn't tell him any of the things going on. Maybe that's why he kept everything a secret. Maybe after all his father had good reasons to be secretive in the first place to his own son.

Jack made it to the old folks home. He asked the main check in if he could see his father for one last time. Jack's father was not doing too well these days. He was dying from cancer and didn't have long to live. Jack knew that the only person that knew how to stop the evil beings was just footsteps away from him and he had to see him one last time. Jack knocked on the door as politely as he could.

"Father, how are you?" Said Jack curiously.

With a gasp of breath his father asked for him to come in. And that it was a happy day to see his son. Even if it was just for one last time.

"Father, I have something to ask you. And this isn't going to be easy. For any of us. Do you have a moment? It's important". Jack said.

Jack's father asked him to sit down. Jack told his father of what was going on. Jack said that he needed to know how to get to the old man. How to get to the ridge. The campers needed the help of this old man. And the only person that told him how to get to the ridge was a elderly person which Jack's father knew best from his childhood days.

Jack's father gasped for a breath of air. "Son, to get to the Ridge you need to be careful. There is a dangerous path to the ridge. One wrong move, and you can die. I want you to be safe in your travels. I was hoping that you would never get involved in something of this nature. But since your brother's death, I knew this day would eventually come. Take the map in my coat pocket that's laying on the edge of my bed."

All that Jack could see was a design on the coat. It didn't mean anything to Jack. But maybe it did to his father. Jack took the coat, and the piece of paper inside of the pocket. Jack's father told him to use the map well on his travel to go see the old man. Then, Jack's father fell asleep. His life signs all went flat. His father was now with The Great Grandfather. Jack's father's soul could now rest.

Jack looked at the map. It was a incomplete piece. Where was the other piece of the map? His father could have hidden it somewhere. Jack searched the coat and could not find anything. Then he remembered seeing a map on the back of the coat. He thought that maybe that's where he hid the rest of the map all of those years. Maybe it just wasn't a map after all, but a piece of a incomplete map. Jack took off the coat and laid it on the floor. He grabbed out the piece of paper and put it to the edge of the coat.

The map on the paper, and the coat seemed to fit perfectly like they were made to fit together. Jack smiled. He finally had a way to go see the old man. No wonder his father was always full of secrets. He had his reasons. But was the old man going to be inviting? Jack would have to see what happened when he got to the Shaman's house.

On his way Jack searched through his car wondering if he would need something for when he found the Shaman. His father only took what he needed. So Jack thought that he would do the same. Take what he needed to take with him. On the map there was a spot. A red spot. Jack thought that it was where the Shaman would be. He got out his GPS. His GPS was dead. He took out a old map of what he had of the land. He was right on course from what he could see. And the map that his father gave him told him that he was almost to the Shaman's house.

Jack drove up to the drive way for what seemed like a long time. There were skeletons marking the way telling people to turn back. Warning signs saying it was private property, and that trespassers should be warned. Finally after reading all the signs Jack was able to pull up to a creepy looking cave. Jack was expecting maybe a house or something. Not a cave. Maybe this guy was crazy after all.

Jack got out of his car. Fearing what he might find inside of the cave, he readied his gun thinking he should have been ready by seeing what he was already seeing from outside of the cave. Skulls and skeletons adorned the outside with creepy green glowing eyes. Jack felt as though he was being watched as he slowly made his way inside. He could hear screaming, giggling, laughing, he didn't know what to think. He thought to himself that this guy must be crazy. He must have been completely insane. Jack thought to himself that the skeletons outside must have been cameras or something. Or maybe something battery operated. Yeah, that must have been it. Battery operated. He thought that there was no way that there could have been real haunted skeletons outside watching the place for the Shaman. Although he had seen what Moonlight Lake already was like. He thought to himself again that maybe this place was supernaturally haunted by the Shaman. And that he should tread more carefully where he went.

Without warning, Jack was caught in a trap. A bear trap was laid down. Jack screamed in pain. The Shaman heard the screaming and laughed as he said out loud that he had a customer. He was eager to see who it was. Laughing with hysterics The Shaman asked who Jack was. Jack said that he was Sheriff Jack Sky Cloud. And that his father sent him. The Shaman then looked at Jack deeply into his eyes. The Shaman said that the eyes were the window to the soul. And the eyes could never lie. The Shaman knew then that Jack was telling the truth.

Screaming in pain, Jack was dragged to The Shaman's secret spot. There, The Shaman pulled off the bear trap and placed medicine on the sheriff's injury. The Shaman said to Jack that he knew of his father. And he knew of his father's passing. He said that he could feel it. And that he could feel him coming up to see him. He could feel everything in the living, and the dead.

XIII

For both worlds he said was in chaos, and nothing was right. Not since they built the camp. Camp Moonlight over the same spot that his ancestors once inhabited many years ago.

The Shaman said that it was such a disgrace that the people of Moonlight Bay even built the camp in the first place, even after they were warmed not to. They were warned that evil spirits would take over, and no one would be safe. Not anyone! Why doesn't anyone listen to me? The Shaman asked.

The sheriff was wondering the same thing. The sheriff said that he was in the same mood that the shaman was. He too wished that they never built on that land. Maybe then he would not have lost his brother. Maybe his brother would still be alive. However, now they had a bigger problem. Like the Shaman said, the land is now in chaos. Something needed to be done.

The Shaman held up a shrunken head that started to speak. It said of a story long ago of the land that now inhabits Moonlight Lake. For the shrunken head was one of the ancient ancestors! How the Shaman found his head was a mystery to the sheriff. But not to The Shaman. The Shaman said to the sheriff while arguing with the shrunken head, that he didn't find the shrunken head. The man who this head was made from came to him and asked for immortality. He gave it to him. And now, he is as you see him now. The shrunken head said that it was a big mistake asking The Shaman for immortality. The Shaman told the shrunken head to shut up for a minute and let him finish. But the head proceeded to argue. The Shaman put the head back in a bag.

"Good, all nice and quiet now". Said The Shaman.

"Where were we?" Asked The Shaman.

The sheriff said that he was being told about the history of Moonlight Lake. The origin of the curse. The Shaman said yes, and he continued to tell his tale of the curse. What happened on a certain night, that changed everything forever.

The Sheriff said that the entire time has felt as though there were a lot of unanswered questions. The Shaman said there was indeed. The Shaman told the sheriff of a tribe long ago that owned the land. Called it sacred. And that nothing should be built upon it. Just laid to rest. If the spirits were ever disturbed, those spirits would seek revenge, and it would come at whatever the cost. Even death.

The sheriff asked The Shaman how could they stop it. The Shaman said to him that he had to swallow his fear first. The sheriff said that he had no fear. None at all. The Shaman looked at him and said that he could sense that he did have fear after all. The fear of dying. He was afraid to die. Oh yes, The Shaman said. The Sheriff of Moonlight Lake is afraid of one thing. Afraid to die. He is willing to give his life. But I am unsure if he is ready.

A disembodied voice was speaking from The Shaman's cauldron.

"He will be ready by your guidance. I know this, and so do you".

The Shaman then turned and looked at the sheriff. He asked the sheriff to hold out his hand. The sheriff did as he was told. He held out his hand. The Shaman took his knife and slowly ran the blade across the sheriff's hand dripping blood into a small vile. The vile was filling with the sheriff's blood. In pain, the sheriff watched as the vile slowly began to glow. The vile looked as though it had belonged to someone small. A human skull-like vile. He wanted to ask The Shaman where he got the vile. But then again he refrained from asking. He knew that he would only anger The Shaman, and possibly the Cauldron if he asked.

The Shaman looked at The Sheriff and asked if he was okay. The Sheriff stated that he was doing okay, and that he was ready for whatever lay before him. He wanted a way to end the chaos at Moonlight Lake for good. And avenge his brother's lost soul. The Shaman said that he was going to get just that. He told The Sheriff to wait there. How could The Sheriff not wait there. He was pretty much tied to the bark of a tree the entire time due to a bear trap. The Sheriff watched as The Shaman dripped the vile into The Cauldron. The Cauldron began to hiss and smolder. Then a face appeared and asked The Sheriff if he was ready to obtain the ultimate power within himself. The Sheriff said that he was ready, and that he would gladly accept whatever awaited him.

The Sheriff's hand began to glow as though raw untamed power was going to seep from his very palms. He could feel something new growing within him. After just a few minutes, The Sheriff could feel something new. His voice was more God-Like, his health was more profound, and his determination could have not been more stronger than what it already was.

He was imbued with amazing power. Power that would rival that of Moonlight Lake. He was now ready to take on the evil at the lake. But how would he get back? It was a long drive back to Moonlight Lake, and his car had no fuel left in it to take him back.

The Shaman said for him to calm down, that he had another way of transportation. He could teleport himself back with ease! The Sheriff said to The Shaman "What am I?"

The Shaman said "You are me. You have my power. You have my strength. Think of it like a copy. You have what I am.

You are me. And I am you. I said that I was going to help you. So help you I shall, in this way. For I too have wanted to see the evil from this world banished forever. I have not had the power to do so for a long time. I was always hoping that someone would come along and help me. I thought that your father was that person. But sadly he didn't have the strength to wield the kind of power that I had. The Power of What I Am. Your father was a great friend to me Jack. And so are you. I do consider both you and your father my brothers.

"Thank You, Shaman. I mean.. Brother". Said Jack.

"Please, Said The Shaman. Call me Rakiil. Brother Rakiil".

"Okay, Brother Rakiil. Thank you for the gift. I wish there was some way I could repay you for all the kindness that you did. Minus the bear traps".

Rakiil laughed. He told Jack that it was okay. But the best way to repay him would be to rid the world of the awful souls of the creatures of Moonlight Lake forever. That would be the best gift to Rakiil".

Jack asked Rakiil how he was going to teleport back. Rakiil handed Jack a shrunken head. Jack recognized the shrunken head right away. For it was his brother's!

XIV

"I took this head and made it for you. This head was your brother's. Use it wisely. Think of it as a extension of your power. A life force of you. And repeat these words…"

"Romba, Cumba, Zim, Zati!" Said Rakiil in a stern voice!

The shrunken head then screamed out and out of it's mouth and eyes the portal came like a smoky cloud, then turning into a green flash of light. All around Jack now was a giant portal ready to take him back. Rakiil told Jack to wait a minute. Rakiil said that he was not a bad man like everyone had thought. And that before Jack went that maybe he could get a hug from his newly found brother for good luck. Jack smiled and gave Rakiil a hug, and with that hug he said "Thank You, my brother. After this is over, I'll make sure to come back and see you. I promise."

Rakiil said that he would like that. For Rakiil said that he was up there at the mountain's cave for many years. Give or take 900 years. Jack laughed and said that Rakiil had to be joking. Rakiil said that it was no joke. Rakiil said to Jack that he was around 3000 years old. Rakiil said that he had been around for many years. And the only real family that he ever felt like he ever really had was Jack's father, and Jack. To him, they were family. And Jack was proud to call Rakiil family as well.

Jack wiped away the tears from his eyes. And stepped through the portal.

"Jack! Before you go fully into the portal, take this!". Rakiil handed Jack a magical knife that would be helpful against the evil spirits.

"The Knife, Jack is made from a special kind of stone. It will keep away the evil ones for you. Stay safe my brother". Said Rakiil.

Jack was now on his way back to face the evil at the lake. He just hoped that he was going to be ready for a full one on one battle with the evil spirits. And be ready for anything that comes his way.

Going through the portal Jack could see lights, smoke, and in the distance, his destination. Jack leaped through the hole in the portal that showed him where he wanted to be. Once back at camp the campers were amazed at how Jack looked. Bigger, taller, stronger. He wasn't afraid anymore of what was to come. He was ready for anything that the camp could throw at him now. But his main concern was the campers.

"Karl, is everyone okay?" Asked Jack.

Karl said that everyone was waiting for Jack to come back. But like this. Even Karl was amazed. Jack said that he had talked with a Shaman, a honorary brother of Jack's. Jack said that he was ready for the evil ones that were haunting the camp. Jack could sense them. He knew that they were near.

The campers said to Jack that they were willing to help too. Jack asked Leah and Jessica to go back to the police station and gather up all the equipment that they could.

The more help that Jack said that he had the better off of a chance they had to defeat the evil. Leah and Jessica gathered up the campers in a bus, those that remained anyway, and went straight off to the police station. There they went down into the basement. Those that didn't know how to use a weapon were immediately taught. And those that did. Made sure that their skills were increased. They didn't want to take the chance anymore of something happening to them as well as what had happened to their friends.

Leah and Jessica were like team leaders for the squads that they were creating. They felt happy that now they felt like they had a fighting chance. They could not wait to try out the new squad on the evil that plagued the camp. It was now their time to shine. Their time to take back the camp. They knew now that they had a fighting chance. And that they were going to win.

Leah formed the squads into 4 pairs. These squads were to surround the camp and make sure that nothing got in or out of the camp while the battle was in progress. Leah asked for squad one to step forward and receive their weapons. Squad one got ready. Then Leah asked for Squad two to step forward. Squad two did the same, as well as squad three, and squad four. Jessica made sure that the training grounds were all set up.

Once everyone was ready. Both the girls, Jessica and Leah asked for each squad to fire rounds one at a time at the targets so they could tell who was missing, and who was managing to get more shots in. They then asked who was better at sniping. Who would be better at longer range firing in case they needed someone to be snipers. They managed to get six girls and eight boys for sniper positions. But Leah felt that they could do better. Then she found the remaining girls that could match the boys. She thought that her and Jessica could be the two remaining girls for the sniper teams. After all, their aim was just as good as any sniper. Or even better. Leah and Sarah both said that they would be joining with the teams as Snipers. The team felt invincible. And why not? Now they felt like they could take on anything. With the Holy Rounds, and the mounds of weapons and ammunition. They were now bigger and better than the neighborhood watch. Taking on evil spirits for them was going to be a breeze.

The girls gathered their things, and so did the boys. The teams loaded the trucks and headed back to the camp and set up a better perimeter around the camp for a more effective tactic. The sheriff looked around and was pleased with what he saw. The girls had learned more than what the sheriff ever thought they could. They thanked the sheriff because they said to him that they had a good teacher. The sheriff smiled with great joy. He said that he felt a great feeling that they were going to take back what was theirs, and just maybe by any chance that he was going to get his brother back. And just maybe Jack's brother and father could go see The Great Grandfather.

Jack and the others quickly got ready. Everything was set to go. All that they had to do was wait out the evil things that plagued the lake. Or did they. Jack figured that if they could come at will. Maybe he could make them come to him. He had to try something. Rakiil said for him to wait until the moon was full. For that was when Jack would have enough power to have over the evil of the lake.

Jack waited. And waited. Finally it was time for the evil to be unleashed. Not by it's own power. But by Jack's power. Jack held up the shrunken head and commanded for all the evil to come forth. For he wanted the evil to come forth. He wanted to cleanse the land.

Jack again called forth for the evil to come forward. It wasn't long before a long forgotten sound was coming out of the lake. A sound that wasn't heard for many years. It was the long forgotten spirits of the first ancestors. For they were the first settlers of the land. The first ones to dig the graves and command the dead themselves. Jack knew that he was in for a fight. He had to gather up all of his strength for this fight. The squads got ready as well.

XV

More and more portals were opening. And it seemed as though whatever evil lay at the lake was now coming at them full force. There was nothing that anyone could do now but to watch the camp become overpowered with evil. It was now up to the campers and Jack to combat what was coming.

Jack cast his first spells at the evil ones. They fell back, but only for a short distance. Then from the other ghostly creatures more spells were cast. It was like a magical war going on right inside of Camp Moonlight.

No one could believe what was going on. Not even the squads. It was beyond what anyone would have thought.

Jack was throwing everything that he had at the spirits, even their leaders. Jack could feel his power start to wane just a little bit from each blow that he was taking from the evil spirits. It was overpowering Jack on a massive level.

Leah and Jessica were leading the teams shooting any evil spirits that they could to help Jack in his battle against the evil of the lake. Jack was firing back even more powerful spells. The shrunken head he was carrying was guiding Jack as best as it could. Guarding him from all of the attacks with a powerful Shamanic Shield. The sniper teams fired more rounds killing more of the ghostly inhabitance. But they were facing one problem. They were running out of bullets. Soon Jack would be the only one able to face them. The sniper teams were calling out saying that they were reloading. And as fast as they reloaded, their ammo ran out just as fast.

As soon as their ammo ran out, the sniper teams became victims. All of them one by one. They could not help but to have their souls sucked out of their bodies and now become slaves of the power of the lake. Making the evil Shamanic Spirits more powerful.

Jack felt as though his power was dragging short. He could not help but feel more weaker with every cast of every spell. Every hit from every enemy that was coming to him. Then he remembered what Rakiil said to him. He remembered that he said that they were not only family. But they gathered their strength from the moon itself just like the lake did.

Rakiil said for Jack to use the power of the lake. To help strike back at the lakes power. The land shall form to Jack's will. And everyone swept into the lake shall be free. Jack was now concentrating on the moonlight. If Jack could gain enough power he could send every one of the creatures back to the lake.

"Creature or spirit I don't care anymore what you are. You broke my soul, took my family! Now I am taking revenge!" Jack said with a great haste in his voice.

Jack didn't waste much time. He concentrated more on the moon asking for the moon to grant him more power until all the ghostly inhabitance, creatures, beasts, and all were gone. The moon seemed like it responded to Jack's request.

Jack could feel the power of the moon. He knew that it was time to strike. And strike he should. He asked for the remaining campers and staff to help him in guiding the souls of the dead back to the lake. How he was going to do that was to open a portal to the other world and send them all back once and for all. Every one of them.

Jack concentrated on the lake. He seemed that it would be the best spot to cast a portal. He began to chant and suddenly the ground started to shake and the sky got dark. He made it to where the portal opened right over the lake. It was almost like the lake itself was made into a portal.

Jack thought that if he could summon a portal, why couldn't he make the portal a black hole. The shrunken head heard Jack's prayers and did as he commanded. Green smoke filled the lake and from that green smoke a lake-sized black hole appeared forming a vacuum to suck all the creatures back in.

All the campers had to hold on for dear life as the power of the suction of the black hole lake became intense. Jack was laughing intensely as the black hole got more powerful. He wanted every demonic entity to suffer the same fate that his brother had suffered many years ago.

Karl was wondering what Jack was doing. The other camp staff members looked at each other and wondered if Jack was becoming more powerful than he actually wanted to be. Maybe he was going to be a threat to the other campers as well. Jack looked back at them and told them not to worry. For he had control of his power. And he was going to make sure that everything was going to be okay. Regardless of the outcome. Jack wasn't going to give up. He wanted to save his brother, and the campers too. The staff understood this. They continued to hold on for dear life as the remaining ghostly inhabitance was sucked into the black hole sized lake.

Jack was screaming again and said that this time he could not hold it for long. The lake was going to close.

The shrunken head that Rakiil had given Jack was asking to let the portal close. Jack was trying. But it felt as though the lake wasn't done with Jack just yet. It was trying to suck him in too!

Pulling back as hard as he could, and trying not to get sucked in Jack pulled with all of his might. He wanted to survive the ordeal. But the way the spirits wanted it, they wanted Jack too. Jack gave in. With the last ounce of breath he leaped into the lake forcing it to close. The demons finally had what they wanted. The lake was now safe. But at the loss of Jack.

Everyone stood in shock as they seen the lake close up. They were all safe. But Jack… Jack was still trapped inside.

"How could this be?" Leah wondered. Jack was such a good guy.

"Maybe that's why Jack's gone. He was a good guy. They wanted to take one last soul. So they took Jack's". Said Jessica.

Leah thought that Jessica was right. But if Jack is gone, who was going to protect them now? Suddenly the lake began to glow. A hand was coming from out of the lake. A hand they all knew. It was Jack! For some reason he found his way back. No one knew how, or why, but Jack was coming back to them. They managed to pull a life preserver to Jack pulling him ashore. Jack wasn't the only one to be pulled ashore that day. Jack had with him, his father, and his brother! They managed to come back to Jack.

Jack wondered how it was possible that he could be holding both his father, and his brother at that moment. His father said that because of his sacrifice, the Shamanic Powers granted the gift of life to Jack, and those that were lost because of the lake so many years ago.

XVI

"Jack, you have set things right! You have saved not only the camp and this lake, but you have saved us, and the nearby towns. You have saved us all!". Jack's father said.

His brother also agreed. It was good for his brother, and his father to be among the land of the living again. Jack's father also said that a old friend and brother wanted to pay his respects too. Jack looked up. There was Rakiil standing there with a grin on his face. He looked the same as he did when Jack last saw him.

Rakiil said to Jack that he was happy that things went back to the way that things were. And that everything was set right. And that harmony was now back in balance with life, and death. The power that he gave Jack would stay with Jack. And if Jack ever needed it. He only needed to call upon it.

Jack thought that the new power would be wonderful for story telling around the camp fire. Something for the campers to look forward to every year. The campers even liked the idea. And so did Jack's shrunken head.

Jack wondered how the shrunken head was still managing to keep it's power. Rakiil said that as long as Jack had hope. It would stay with him all of his life. Rakiil lifted up his shrunken head and laughed. He said that his had been with him for generations and would never shut up. Although the conversations were worth having and fun at times. Other times he just wished his shrunken head would shut up. But that was a down side thing Jack guessed. But none the less. Jack was happy to have everything back to normal.

The campers all spent the day fixing up the camp like nothing had ever happened. They didn't want the memories of what had happened to the camp to be the camp's future. They wanted something new. Something that they could tell new campers.

Leah and Jessica went on to become new camp staff. And teach everyone about the safety of the camp. It was a great job. They loved it. They made great teachers too. Jack went on to continue to be the sheriff. He didn't want to pass up the opportunity should something come up. But then again being sheriff was fun for him. Also a great way to keep a eye on what was going on. Plus everyone trusted him. He was a great guy at heart. And he always felt that his best interest was the people that he cared for. He made a great protector. And a great Public Servant.

Rakiil went back to his cave. He even spruced it up a bit. He said that he would like to stay up there because up there was where he belonged. He didn't want to be anywhere else. He also told Jack that he could return anytime he wanted to.

Jack's brother and father managed to get back to living their lives right where they left off. With Jack's older brother now being chief of police, it gave Jack more free time. It was great to have a family business for a change. It felt great too.

As for the rest of the town. Things remained quite quiet for many years. No one really remembered about the lake, or the haunting that came along with it. The Native Tribes all come together to promise that there would never be another ancient land disturbed again.

They made sure to do so and went to the federal government and told them to pass a new law. They didn't want anything else to happen to anyone. For they didn't want the same curse that happened to Moonlight Lake to have another impact on the economy or themselves.

To this day, laws are still being tried, and barely being passed to do something about the matter of Moonlight Lake. As for the lake…. Some things are better left buried. If they can stay buried.

A few years after the incident of Moonlight Lake, another camper was missing at the same lake. Could it be a coincidence? Or was it just some other campers playing tricks? Staff members began looking around for a missing little red headed girl about the age of 14. She had blue eyes, and freckles. Her parents were notified due to the new phone systems were installed at Camp Moonlight. Then police. No one could find her!

One by one the campers went missing again. And no one knew why. No one knew what was really going on. All that they knew was that the campers were going missing again just like what happened so many years ago.

Sheriff Sky Cloud was even called in to investigate. He consulted his shrunken head. Even the shrunken head was confused and could not find any reason why the campers were disappearing.

A few weeks later another one. This time only a shoe remained. And this time blood was evident at the scene. This time it was getting more serious. This time people were truly in danger. But this time it seemed like it spread beyond Camp Moonlight! This time it seemed to be wide spread! It was spreading to the entire town!

Moonlight Bay was now at the mercy of a new threat. Something that was coming for everyone. Moonlight Bay was becoming a ghost town. And why? People were being swept away at random it seemed and no one knew how or why. It almost was like a Shamanic Force was at work with it all.

Suddenly all suspicions turned to Jack. Jack told the towns folk that it was not him. That he was not to blame. But he thought he knew who might be.

Jack went to see Rakiil. Rakiil denied having anything to do with it. They both heard laughing coming from Rakiil's cauldron!

"FOOLS! ALL OF YOU! MY PLAN IS COMING TOGETHER. SOON I SHALL RULE ALL OF THE WORLD. YOU CANNOT STOP WHAT IS COMING!"

The disembodied voice was so creepy that it was giving both Rakiil and Jack a really bad feeling. Rakiil asked the cauldron who he was speaking with. Rakiil didn't like the reply.

The Cauldron said that it was Rakiil's old master Vox coming to take revenge on the entire world for imprisoning him in The Mist Realm many generations ago.

"My monsters were just a taste of my power! Now see what I can really unleash upon your world! You are nothing to me!" Vox said with a evil commanding voice.

XVII

Jack and Rakiil knew what they had to do. They had to get ready. First Jack wanted to know if he could manage a spell so that Vox could not know what they were doing. Rakiil said that he can try. But that the power of Vox was greater than his.

Jack said that they would have to try. They didn't have a choice. If Vox knew what they were doing no one would have a chance of stopping Vox. Rakiil thought that once all the ghostly ghouls and monsters were gone that it would be the end of it. Jack feared that it was only the beginning. That he opened something else when he was sucked into the portal too. Like a sacrifice.

To Rakiil it didn't seem like much but he was sure that he had something on his old master that he could look up and find out how to defeat him. For if he was defeated once, he could be stopped again. But how?

Rakiil started to look through old papers, scrolls, and books. He even asked his shrunken heads if they knew anything about Vox. They didn't speak. They were frozen in fear. Jack was speechless too. He didn't know what to say. All that he could think was how could this happen? He thought that everything went back to normal once the chaos was gone. Maybe there was something else under Moonlight Lake that was trapped there, and the dead were used as sacrifices for a reason?

Rakiil said that it could have been the case because he remembers how his old master Vox always use to talk about his past life when he was with him. But he never told him how he died. That was one mystery that Rakiil never figured out, until now. Rakiil thought it was clever that his old master was trapped using sacrifices from long ago. Maybe the first settlers of the land of Moonlight fought Vox before? There must have been a record somewhere of the incident? Right?

If Rakiil didn't have it. Rakiil knew of only one person who did. Jack's father! Rakiil contacted Jack's father. He told him of a fight long ago that involved the settlers who were now the towns folk, and Vox. But how to stop him, he didn't remember. Vox must have taken that with him when he was still in The Mist Realm so that we would not find it.

With the dead now rising again, and the streets back in a panic. The many years of peace were now at a end.

For the time of Vox had come….

Vox was now calling himself Vox The Unstoppable. Vox the ruler. And Vox The Indestructible.

Jack was terrified looking down at the city and what it had become. Zombies were running wild, demons were flying around killing people left and right wherever they could. It was a horrifying sight just to watch. Rakiil also stood in shock. Jack said to Rakiil. "What are we going to do now my brother? Is there any hope for humanity?".

Rakiil said that he wasn't sure. He wasn't sure at all that there was any more hope for anyone. Doom had engulfed them all.

Jack then said to Rakiil "Yes my brother, doom has engulfed us all. Even you. Stabbing Rakiil and taking his very soul Jack gained Rakiil's spirit, and all of his power!

"Now my master, Vox will be very happy indeed. For we now control everything!"….

Jack spit out Rakiil's soul into a vile making a necklace out of his soul. Making sure that when he wore Rakiil's soul that he would keep his power. "Now to go finish off my brother and my father! For when I have their souls I shall be all powerful. Then I shall take my place at The Throne of Souls for all time!

Jack went to the police station where he knew that his brother and father would be. He quickly sucked out their souls using the new necklace that he had made. They didn't even have time to say a word!

Jack then headed for Vox. He challenged Vox to a duel. There only one would come out on top. Having all the power that he could ever need, Jack easily stole Vox's soul as well. It was now time for Jack to rule. But Jack was going to go by a new name. Jack was dead he thought to himself. Now enters the reign of Samual The Soul Eater!

All the monsters witnessed Vox's defeat at the hands of their new master Samual The Soul Eater. They bowed down to him, swore allegiance to him. And gave their lives for him. For he now was their king, ruler of all on earth, and the Other Realms. The Soul Master, Samual!

Master Samual was going to make sure that his kingdom was supreme. He wanted to be the all time ruler of his own domain. And he was. For a time. Samual ruled the realm of Earth for all eternity. Chaos raged everywhere. Nowhere was safe to hide from The Master, Samual.

No one could now stand in Samual's way. Everyone was at his mercy. Everyone! Samual enslaved the people of earth, forcing them to do his bidding. Making them carve statues of himself. And sadly, Samual would torture the innocent just for the fun of it. For pain was his pleasure. Torture was his friend. The reign of Samual would never end.

But all that would one day come to a close. When the demons of the past would come to oppose! The Master Samual would meet his end. At the end of a necklace broken and bent. One night the captured spirits managed to get out. And Samual was facing loss of power with not a doubt! How could this be? For he was the all powerful one you see. But Vox, Rakiil, Brother, and Father had other plans. To make the world anew again. They bound Samual to the knees. Samual begged and started to pled. For he had much fear and sadness and dread. The captured spirits were now free. To end the suffering and pain.

"Samual, I bound you now to this necklace. May you never come out!" Commanded Rakiil.

Samual was now trapped within the necklace. Jack was now free. Both body and spirit came free right at the moment of Samual's imprisonment. Jack was happy to finally be free. Jack apologized to Rakiil and his family. He didn't mean to do what he had done. The moment that he was empowered with the new powers he could feel something else, more like someone else call to him. He wasn't sure who it was. Just that something didn't feel right. And he was scared to tell anyone about it.

XVIII

Rakiil told Jack that he should have said something. But how was Jack going to finally set things right? How were things going to go back to normal now?

Rakiil said to Jack that he should look outside and see for himself. That everything that he had done was now gone. Things were back to normal.

Jack! Jack! Hey Jack! Wake up will ya? It's time for school. What are you doing to do sleep all day long? Come on son you have to get up. Your brother said that he was going to meet you at the police station and take you to school remember?

"Dad?" Jack said curiously.

"What happened?"

"Was I sleeping?" Said Jack curiously again with a look on his face.

Jack's father replied "Yes you were sleeping. You almost slept in! Now let's get going you have to go to school! Get ready man! And remember your brother is going to meet you down at the police station before school so you have a easier ride there more than you did the last few days. I can't believe you got in a fight on the school bus again. It's crazy that your brother The Sheriff has to take his own brother into school. But I guess things happen."

"School? Was it all a dream? Is my dad and brother really still alive?"

Jack looked outside. He could see where Camp Moonlight was suppose to be. There was nothing there. His brother was calling on the phone to see where he was. His brother obviously didn't want him to be late for school. Jack hurried up and grabbed his clothes on really quick and dashed out the door. Things looked like they had been okay. Things looked normal.

Jack's brother honked the horn. He said to Jack, "I wondered where you were going to be. I didn't want you to be late for school bro!"

Jack asked his brother if he knew of any legend of Moonlight Lake. Jack's brother laughed and said that Moonlight Lake never existed. And that he thought that he might have been eating too much ice cream before bed. Jack's brother assured Jack that there had never been a camp called Moonlight Lake in the county of Moonlight Bay.

Jack was wondering if his brother was right. He then asked his brother if he knew of anyone named Leah, Jessica, or a Shaman by the name of Rakiil. Jack's brother laughed again. He felt Jack's forehead. Jack was not running a fever. But his brother figured that he might be telling a wild tale.

Jack's brother then asked Jack if he felt okay. And if he should go to the hospital. Jack was not sure. He wanted to ask another question but he was not sure if he should. But he went ahead and asked it anyways just to make sure.

"Bro, I need you to be honest with me. I know you’re a cop and you can see when people are telling the truth or not. And you have always known me not to be crazy, and always tell the truth. Can you be honest with me now and tell me that I am not crazy?"

"Okay, you're not crazy…" Jack's brother said.

"Very funny, bro!". Jack said.

"But what I am telling you is the truth. I had some strange dream that the camp, Camp Moonlight was around here somewhere, next to your sheriff's station, and that all the campers were getting abducted by evil spirits! I saw you die dude! You died in my arms! A beast killed you! Then I became a Shaman, then I killed everyone in town! It was crazy!

"See, what did dad and I tell you about eating Ice Cream before dinner? It will give you nightmares and then you won't be able to sleep anymore. All that you will have is nightmares from here on out or some crazy dreams that make you seem crazy when you are actually quite sane. Bro, trust me I know. You are not crazy. But you probably have been sneaking into the Ice Cream again without me and dad knowing it. So cool it bro, and lay off the ice cream. It's bad for you before bed time."

"Bro! I am not making this up! This really happened! Why don't you believe me?" Said Jack.

"Because dad always said to me that you can't have ice cream before bed. Even the doctor said that it was bad for you". Said Jack's Brother.

Jack was in amazement that his brother didn't believe him. He was more depressed than impressed that his brother didn't believe him. He was now wondering if all he had was a dream. Maybe It was for the best that he just forget about what he supposedly dreamed about. Maybe he was just having nightmares after all, and maybe it was the ice cream causing him to have bad dreams. After all he didn't want to seem crazy in front of his brother.

Before Jack got to school his brother gave him a hug while they were parked out in the school parking lot. His brother said that it was okay. That he believed him. Even if it was just a wild dream. His brother wanted Jack to go off to school, so Jack did just that. Went off to school without a hitch.

Over the P.A. System the principle was doing the morning reports and wanted to congratulate everyone on a job well done for the Moonlight Parade floats that they had made for the new year for Moonlight Bay. He said that they hoped that they had a good one this year. And now for the rest of our morning announcements. Would Jack Sky Cloud please come to the office immediately. Your brother would like to have a word with you. Jack felt ashamed every time he was called to the office because he knew that his brother would be there waiting for him seeing as how he was not just a town cop, but also the school security guard.

Once in the office Jack's brother said to him that he was sorry for not believing him before, and that he should not have been so hard on him. Jack said that he was okay with that. And that it was okay, he was his brother. Brothers' are suppose to pick on each other, right?

XIX

Jack's brother gave him a pamphlet. It said that there was a new camp coming into town next week called Camp Moonlight. Jack's brother already had him enrolled in it. He figured his brother would like it and maybe it would teach him some manners of how to treat his older brother.

Jack gasped! Was this the same camp that he had a dream of? He was told that it didn't exist! How could this be?

"Bro, you have to be kidding me. This is the same camp from my dream!" Said Jack.

"Really? Said Jack's brother.

"I thought you said you just dreamed up this camp or something. Now you don't want to go to it. The camp of your dreams? I thought that you would have a good time". Jack's brother said with delight.

Jack was not amused at the offer. He was more afraid than accepting.

Jack, look, I can take the offer back if you want. Jack's brother said politely. Jack said it was okay. That he would go. Maybe it was just a dream after all. He would have to wait until the summer but it might be worth it. Jack would be taking the bus number 125B.

Jack was shocked again. He didn't know what to say. For it was the very bus that he took in his dream. Or if it was a dream. Jack thought of maybe his brother should take him just to be safe.

Jack's brother was laughing again but he agreed to take Jack. Thinking that Jack just had a case of a bad nightmare and nothing more. "Jack, I'll take you okay. Don't be worried" His brother said again.

After school Jack got curious. Was it really a dream? Did Camp Moonlight really exist? He had to find out more. He went by where the camp use to be in his dream. There stood his worst fears. The sign for Camp Moonlight was the same one as in his dream. He was speechless. He then wondered who the camp staff was going to be. But he would not know more until the start of the summer when his brother was going to take him.

The season for school seemed long. But Jack was patient. His brother on the other hand wasn't. He was looking forward to it all year long. And there had to be a reason for it. But not even Jack knew why. Everything to Jack was a mysterious mystery. Why was his brother wanting to go so badly?

The time had come….

Jack and his brother had loaded everything up in the truck that they were going to take to the camp. Jack could not wait to see who all was going to be there. Jack's brother said politely that he was going to host the camp's Camp Fire Story this year, like he did every year.

Jack wondered what it was going to be about. Jack's brother didn't say a word as though he didn't even know. As they pulled up to the drive for the camp, Jack could somehow feel the same uneasiness that he felt before from his dream. Like something was watching him at all times.

Jack's brother was all smiles. The boys and girls were getting off the bus greeting Jack's brother like they had not seen him in a long time. Jack went over to the lake to check it out. It looked like it did in his dream. But there was no one around it like before. The camp was set up completely different. This made Jack think that maybe it all was a dream. And that maybe there was nothing to worry about.

Jack for once felt at ease since his dream. He could not believe that it was all not even real. Maybe he didn't have much to fear after all except for fear itself. Jack was finally able to breathe. He didn't want the moment to be wasted.

Jack turned around and was greeted by a young girl about his age. She said that her name was Leah. And that she had a friend that he might like to meet that had a crush on him named Jessica. Jack was startled! How could it be that the names were familiar to him. Yes! Like the ones in his dream! And on top of all of that these girls looked just like the girls in his dream!

"This could not be coincidence any longer." Jack thought to himself.

Jack asked his brother again what the story was going to be around the camp fire tonight. He wasn't going to want to miss it. For he wanted to see what his brother was going to tell.

His brother looked at him. Smiled and said that he knew the story quite well of what he was going to tell. Jack looked puzzled and confused. He wondered what story could he already know that his brother was going to tell.

His brother said to him. "Well, you already know. Or else your name would not be Jack 'Eddie' Sky Cloud. See you later on tonight bro. Then with those final words said, without warning Jack's brother pushed Eddie into the lake holding his head under the water until the last air bubble came up. Jack was a goner! Jack's brother quickly found a rock, tied it to his brother's feet and let his brother sink down into the lake.

Jack's brother knew that the story would have to be put on hold. Or would it? Jack's brother quickly put up a stone and carved on the rock "Here lies Eddie. He had trouble catching his breath" as a last joke to his brother.

That night, Jack's brother told the same tale of Eddie who drowned at the lake the same way Jack told it to him.

"….and they say that you can still hear the ghost of Eddie roaming the grounds of the camp in his ghostly spirit trying to warn campers of some kind of impending doom..."

Jack's ghost appeared to them as best as he could. But they could not see him at all. It was like the campers were unaware that he was even there. And why would his brother kill him like that? Or was it really his brother. Sadly his dreams were not just dreams. The evil spirit by the name of Vox had returned again to plague the land. And this time it had captured Jack's brother to do it's bidding. The camp was no longer safe. Everyone was again in danger. There was nowhere safe to run anymore from the awful power of Vox. "How could this be though?" Jack had thought to himself. How could Vox be alive still? I thought he was destroyed?

Vox laughed and said to Jack that he could never be destroyed, and that he would always haunt the people of Moonlight Lake forever. No matter how things play out. For Moonlight Lake was his playground. And no one was going to stop him. Not now, or ever.

It was now clear that Vox was all powerful. For everyone was at the mercy of Vox. Now that he had Jack's brother. He had a host. And now that he had a host, there was no telling what he was going to do now. Now, the camp didn't have any chance of survival. Vox could walk in at any time he wanted just by using his brother's body as a disguise.

Dead and alone, always watching, and suffering, with no way to warn his father, or the campers of the coming darkness that awaited them….

What was Jack to do now?

Ahead of Jack was a welcoming sign showing campers into the new camp that read:

"Welcome to the first year of camp".

"Camp Moonlight Lake, Established this year in 1947".
