CHAPTER 11

Kawa was completely speechless. He could not believe it at all. Different kinds of emotions were pouring out. He was angry, upset, and shocked all at the same time. “James… He had been captured…?”

Akane looked away from him sadly as she was rubbing her arm. “Yes. Graciela would never lie to me.”

Kawa clenched his black hair into his fists. He could not take all this news anymore. First, Earth was betrayed by Venus. Now, James was captured? The Wolf Samurai? That guy was almost impossible to defeat or at least, capture!

“That… that can’t be true,” He shook his head furiously. “Unless… there was a spy in that apartment building.”

“Kawa --”

“And that Earthling spaceship… was everyone killed on the board too? Like the entire Dark Fury was killed? What if Venusians did that as well?! Or was it Martians? Or Europans?”

“Kawa…”

“We trusted Venus! We used to trust Mars and Europa before the war!” He was walking forth and back for a few seconds. He stopped and said, “It’s my fault. If I haven’t left James… then… he wouldn’t get captured.”

“Kawa!” Akane yelled angrily, grabbing Kawa’s white shirt harshly and pulling him closer to herself. ”Kawa, calm down! They will hear you!”

She was not sure if Kawa listened to her or not, but either way, Kawa got quiet. “Kawa…” She said softly. “We will get James back for sure.”

Kawa blinked in surprise at her. “Are you sure? Won’t you get in trouble?”

She just smiled at him. Before he knew it, he felt warm lips on his own. He was way too shocked to react to the sudden kiss for a few seconds, but he gave into the kiss quickly. He wrapped his arms around her small waist, not breaking the kiss just yet.

He licked Akane’s lips as if he was asking for her permission. He gained permission when she opened her mouth. He was trying to take his time to explore in her sweet and warm mouth. Not only did she smell so good and sweet but tasted the same as well.

“Ahem!”

Kawa and Akane quickly pulled away from each other, their faces turning very red as tomatoes.

“Gracie?” asked Akane, completely surprised to see her.

“That guy…” Graciela narrowed her brown eyes in suspicion at Kawa. “Is he not a Martian?”

“Graciela…”

“I heard everything.”

“I have to go,” Kawa said nervously.

“No, you are not going anywhere.” Graciela quickly withdrew his katana, which was completely covered in ice. “Earthling samurai, yes? No… Dragon Samurai. I heard so much about you.”

“Graciela!” Akane yelled angrily. “Put away your katana!”

“Fine, but before I do…” Graciela swung her icy katana through the air, sending the gust of flakes at Kawa’s feet, freezing them completely to the floor.

“Hey!” He shouted.

“Now, I know you can’t escape.” Graciela smirked at him. She placed her katana back into the holster. “Akane, you have some explaining to do. I’ve been looking all over the place for you, and here you are! First of all, why in the solar system were you kissing him, out of all Martian and Europan guys?!”

“That’s none of your business!” Akane snapped at her. “I thought you were my friend?”

“I am, but…” Graciela glared at the Earthling samurai. “He is the enemy.”

“I know,” Akane said softly. “But he hasn’t done anything wrong! He never killed anyone!”

“Then what is he doing here on Mars, Akane? What is he planning to do?”

“Nothing. He just moved here.”

“You’re lying. I can tell.” The female Europan samurai was more than itching to cut down Kawa for making Akane act like this.

Kawa chuckled softly, making the women snap their heads toward him. “Sorry, ladies! I have to go!” He was about to withdraw his flaming sword, but his hand got frozen instantly by Graciela.

“Not so fast.” Graciela grinned at him. As soon as she glanced at Akane, she gave a loud sigh. “Despite the Earthling samurai thing, what the fuck did you take so long?”

“What do you mean?” Akane asked in confusion.

“I had been following you since day one on Mars.” Graciela crossed her arms. “I didn’t want to surprise you. I just… I had to step in when I saw you kissing. But that was my fault for not stopping you. I should have known.”

Turning to glare at Kawa once again, she said, “If you ever hurt her, I will hunt you down no matter where you go.”

Akane smiled at her. “I knew you would understand.”

Graciela swung her sword again, making the ices on Kawa melt down into liquid. “Here you go. You’re free.”

Kawa was rubbing his cold hand, trying to warm it up. “Thanks, ma’am. Jeez.”

“Noooow….” Graciela pulled a touchscreen tablet out of her travel-size sack and turned it on. “I also overheard your conversation about James being a captive. I got an email message from the Europan Colonel. He was recently at the Ares Palace. He was pretty surprised to hear that the captured Lunan samurai sneaked onto this planet somehow. The Venusian samurais actually found him first and captured him. He told me not to say anything in front of the citizens, so that we are not causing panic.

“And,” she continued after scrolling up her email message, “He attached the file, which… consists of the sentence of James. He is to be locked in Mars’s largest prison… It’s underground. Right under the palace.”

“Venusian samurais… So that explains it all.” Kawa thumped his fist onto his other palm lightly as everything suddenly made sense. “We thought that Venus was supposed to be our ally, so he probably thought that they wouldn’t do it to him. That’s why he got himself caught. What the hell is Lady Aurora thinking? That fucking two-faced bitch!”

“So, just to be clear…” Graciela placed her hands on her hips, leaning forward a little bit towards Kawa. “I’m only helping you to get James back. That’s it, okay? After that, you get the fuck out of here. I could have caught you and brought you to the Mars Lord if I wanted to, but I decided not to. It’s all for Akane, not for you, okay?”

“Yes, ma’am!” Kawa smiled brightly at her. “You may be able to get into the palace, but how do I get in? I can’t just sit around and wait for you to get James.”

“Good point. Besides, even if we are able to get in, we wouldn’t be able to rescue him without getting seen. As the samurais of Mars and Europa, we would be punished severely,” Graciela said. “Any idea?”

“Actually, I do have a plan.” Akane smirked at them.
