Charlie noticed the “two chatterboxes,” a term her girlfriend Vaggie studiously characterized upon the odd couple, as she was rattling off exercises she was planning for the hotel’s itinerary. They seemed completely unaware of the attention.

They had just had breakfast and were buzzing over the fact that Sir Pentious was redeemed.

“Your dad just found out?” Vaggie asked Charlie, her eyes wide with a bit of concern and excitement. Charlie nodded with gleeful enthusiasm, shaking Vaggie’s shoulders vigorously.

“Yes! He called me this morning to confirm through the high Seraphim about our first redeemed human soul. Ohhh, shit, Vaggie, this means our hotel works!” Charlie gleamed. “We can redeem human souls!”

Vaggie heard the our in our hotel and she smiled warmly, taking Charlie’s hand. It was a hot minute since Adam and Lute had exposed her Angel Exorcist history to Charlie, causing strife and distrust between them.

They had discussed the history at length over the past few days, as Charlie noted, “I always knew you were good,” she lifted her palm onto Vaggie’s chin tilting it upward as she smiled with large eyes, “You let that poor boy go and Lute made you feel bad for having mercy.”

“I believe heaven and God are more merciful than how these Exorcists act with the damned…” Vaggie exclaimed.

“But it proves you are a true Angel… you reclaimed your wings, after all,” Charlie said in a soothing coo.

“It means the world to me that you know and accept me as I am.” Vaggie leaned into Charlie’s arm. Charlie wrapped her hand around the others waist to pull her closer.

“Everytime I feel your feathery wing against my skin I get tingly!” Charlie giggled. Vaggie chuckled.

This was how real love felt, Vaggie thought. As soft as Angel wings and Charlie’s laugh.

Vaggie nodded. “Apparently, even most of heaven have no idea the actual process of redemption. So we may have a chance to prove this to…”

“Ohh! Look!” Charlie whispered loudly in a excited interruption, pointing to Angel and Husk across the hall.

They were so close it was almost as though they were about to…

“Charlie, honey, let’s leave them alone…” Vaggie whispered. Charlie’s face was bright red and she had the biggest grin on her face.

“Da fuck y'all looking at?” Husk said, making the couple jump in surprise. Angel gave Charlie and Vaggie an apologetic smile.

“Nada! Nothing! We're just about to head off!” Vaggie waved off, dragging a happy Charlie behind her.

“You guys… are sooo cute!” Charlie yelled making Husk throw a bottle in protest.

Angel laughed and puffed up his lips. “Husky, we can go up to my room if you'd like to finish the conversation in private?” Husk gave him a lopsided look of questioning curiosity. Angel shook his head.

“I mean a conversation. Not like I'll suck your dick or anything...” he teased and Husk scoffed.

“I think the princess is onto us…” Husk said under his breath.

“And her little Mexican Angel…” Angel added, making Husk burst out in a loud laugh. “Ay, carumba!”

“How about we take this talk in my room?” Husk offered.

Angel looked quietly stunned but nodded, getting up to walk with Husk to his room.

“Anthony, I really appreciate you taking the time to really let me get to know you,” The whole time Angel was in a quiet stupor of warmth and a feeling of safety with Husk. Now with those words of affirmation, it really felt real.

It was as though the whole world of his inner torment, the sexual assaults that broke him down into a numb shell… the way he felt invisible and helpless in a overwhelming, vile existence…

Was the first step in healing his ongoing trauma.

“I really appreciate getting to know the real Husk too…” he replied with a side smile.

Hehehehehhehe when Charlie and Vaggie saw Angel and Husk! That was soooo cute!

  • A beautiful continuation. A hotel of redemption in the midst of hell, guiding souls home one at a time (through the back door if needed).

  • ROCK about a month ago

"This was how real love felt, Vaggie thought. As soft as Angel wings and Charlie’s laugh." a beautiful sentence that kept me reading further.
