She held his hand, running her thumb across the grooves of his skin. She had missed him so much - he’d been gone so long that she had forgotten the warmth he radiated.
“Where did you go?” She asked, and to her surprise her voice hardly sounded like her own. The familiarity of it was barely there, as if she were talking through thick glass.
“Away.” He said, his own voice as clear as day. Just as she remembered it.
She opened her eyes to look at him. The morning sun stared back at her. It was only a dream.
