Seemingly, reality itself was starting to fall apart.
Ethan was urgently looking for answers to his lingering doubts.
In his continued quest for knowledge, Ethan discovered an old online forum post. The author, referring to himself as The Traveler, shared that he'd unintentionally slipped through a portal to a different dimension. He claimed he landed in an unfamiliar world and had been trying to return ever since.
Fascinated and needing clarification, Ethan contacted The Traveler, aiming to understand his own bizarre experiences better. Surprisingly, The Traveler responded immediately, arranging a face-to-face meeting with Ethan. They planned their meeting at a private park on the edge of town so they could exchange their mutual experiences freely without any eavesdropping.
When Ethan entered the park, he saw an old man seated on a bench whose eyes were full of wisdom mixed with a touch of melancholy. This must be The Traveler, Ethan realized. A bit anxious, Ethan walked up to the old man who received him kindly and motioned him to sit.
"Good to see you, Ethan," said the elderly man with an unworldly calmness in his voice. "I'm pleased you made contact with me. I’ve been seeking someone like you who has also inadvertently shifted from one reality into another." Ethan felt a mixture of fear and excitement. "What do you mean 'slipped through the cracks of reality?' Are you saying I'm not in my world?"
The Traveler nodded seriously, "Indeed, my young companion. You’re now in a different universe. There are multitudes of dimensions, each with their own distinct principles and laws. Sometimes these dimensions cross paths, forming gateways which allow individuals to pass into other realities."
Ethan tried to grasp what The Traveler was saying. "But why me? How did I fall through this gateway?" The old man's eyes twinkled with the presence of ancient wisdom. "That, my child, is a question not even I can answer. The universe acts in enigmatic ways often choosing sentient beings like you to go through unordinary experiences. It could be a trial or perchance an opportunity for you to find your sole vocation."
Mixed feelings clouded Ethan's thoughts that he had already been stuck like an outsider in his world. But the potential return to his real home brought a hint of optimism.
Reaching into his pocket, The Traveler pulled out a small, meticulously designed tool. “This is a portal opener," he clarified. “With this instrument, I can initiate a doorway back to your original universe. However, once you cross over, there’s no coming back. Are you ready to encounter the unexpected?”
Ethan paused, wrestling uncertainty. He realized he had to face destiny sooner than later despite fearing it at some level. He decided to accept the portal key from The Traveler’s open palm with determination.
The elderly man turned the gizmo on, and a gleaming gate materialized right in front of them. Ethan’s heightened heartbeat echoed his fear and excitement. Just as he was bidding goodbye to the familiar world, he plunged into the portal, ready to confront the extraordinary experience surrounding him.
Then, all of a sudden, Ethan disappeared from the park, leaving behind a familiar universe he’d struggled with fitting in to embark on a journey where he truly belonged. The trip had begun that would lead him home, marking a new phase full of enormous potential and hope to find his place in an infinite existence.
