The Witch and the Wishing Well

The Special Wish

By Mother CombsPublished 12 months ago 3 min read

Once upon a time, in a land far far away, there was a good, little witch who lived in a small thatched cottage deep in the dark woods. She had an orange cat named Salem, who was her very best friend. One day, the witch decided to go to the magic wishing well at the edge of the woods. She had been thinking about making a special wish for a long, long time, and she thought that the wishing well might be the absolute perfect place to do it.

The witch and Salem set off on their adventurous journey. It was a long walk along a winding path, but they eventually made it to the wishing well. The well was an extremely old one and partially covered in soft green moss, and it had a deep, dark hole in the center. The witch looked deep down into the blackness of the well, and she could see the pure clear water swirling around at the bottom.

The little witch took a huge, deep breath, closed her eyes, and made her special wish. She wished for a beautiful new blue dress. She closed her green eyes and waited for something spectacular to happen.

After a few long minutes, the witch opened her eyes. Nothing had happened at all. She looked at Salem, who was sitting next to her, on an ancient wagon wheel.

"I don't think my special wish is going to come true, Salem," the witch said.

"Do not give up, my friend," Salem said. "Maybe you just need to really believe a little bit harder."

The good witch took another huge, deep breath and closed her green eyes again. This time, she really concentrated on her special wish. She imagined herself wearing the beautiful new long blue dress. She could feel the soft silk fabric against her satin skin and the way the luxurious dress made her feel confident and beautiful like she could take on the world.

When the witch opened her eyes, she was extremely surprised to see that her special wish had come true. She was wearing the beautiful new blue dress that she had wished for.

"Thank you so much, Salem," the witch said joyously. "You were so right. I just needed to believe a little bit harder."

The good little witch and Salem were so happy that they danced a jig around the magic wishing well. They danced and danced in ecstasy until they were extremely tired. Then, they sat down on the edge of the well and enjoyed the beautiful view surrounding them.

The witch and Salem visited the wishing well many, many times after that. They always made a special wish, and their wishes always came true. The wishing well was a very special place for them, and they were always grateful for its magic.

Because of the wishing well, the good, little witch and Salem had many adventures together, walking through the woods to the well. They had met many different types of folks, going many different ways. They even got to rescue a person or two, and the magical well was there to help them gather the hard-to-find supplies for their quests.

In all of their adventures, they learned the value of their friendship and how they could overcome anything as long as they were together. They enjoyed each of these adventures because they knew they would be together to the end. As always, they remembered to take the time to dance, along the way. But these stories are for another time and today's story has come to a close.

Just know that they lived happily ever after.
