*That's a fiction story*
I'm taken back to a period long ⏱ ago as I sit by the crackling fire, the warmth just reaching my chilly bones. When I close my eyes, I picture the life of Maria, my ancestor, a woman whose scar demonstrated her tenacity and survival.
Maria grew up in a time when women were supposed to be seen, not heard, and to have their lives controlled by the men 👨💼 in their immediate vicinity. Maria, though, was unique. She was driven by a burning desire to overcome all obstacles and forge her own course in life.
Maria, who wanted to become a Bussiness woman 👩💼 , had to give up her dream because of her marriage and had to survive in that hell 😢 . But when she became free from her husband, she realized that the person for whom she had left her dreams was worthy of her love 💔 .
Maria married a man who had affairs with many women besides his wife and was a drug addict and a heavy drinker 😠. Despite this, Maria remained loyal to him. One day, when he was drunk, he started to beat Maria as usually. But this time, instead of being afraid and beaten by her husband, She grabbed a nearby candlestick and fought back leaving a mark that will always serve as a reminder of her strength on her husband and herself.
Maria realized that day that she could not stay there any longer. With the intention of building a life in which she was the architect of her own fate, she packed up her minimal possessions 👜 and headed off on her own.
Maria had a difficult journey. Despite all the obstacles in her path 🚓 , she remained unwavering in her resolve. She put in a lot of effort, saved every dollar 💰 , and eventually launched her own prosperous company.
When Maria reflected on her life years later, she realized that the scar on her cheek was a badge of honor 💚 rather than a source of shame. It served as a reminder of the day she made the decision to take charge of her own life at any costs.
And I take Maria's story with me as I open my eyes 👀 and come back to the here and now. Her bravery and tenacity motivate me to take on my own obstacles head-on because I know that, like her, I am capable of conquering any obstacle in my path. 😊

Two Pink Lines
I had never really felt like a child. I'd always had to raise myself. My mother was just a teenager when she'd had me and consequently, we had spent my whole childhood arguing and fighting like a couple of sisters as opposed to mother and daughter. My father was older than my mother but still had some maturing to do himself. He focused his entire life on me, his little girl but never realized the pressure that put on me. I always felt I had to raise him even as he was trying to raise me. We raised each other. Then, I met him. He cares, he shows me a love like I've never known. For once, it's about me and I don't have to focus on other people's needs and what someone needs from me. Someone always wants something from you. That is what my parents have taught me. Love is selfish but it isn't with him. He is perfect, beautiful, funny, and can take me to places I've only dreamed about. Places outside my mind and my own pathetic life and I know that I will always love him. When we first met, I wanted him to have my children, but now? Right now, with us both still in high school? This is all happening so soon. I slipped into the restroom at work. It had been 6 weeks since my last menstrual and this was not normal. I couldn't wait any longer. I put the top on the test and waited. These 60 seconds felt like forever. What would we do? We were both seniors so we didn't have long to go before school was over but this was not the plan. The plan was for him to join the Army and me the National Guard and for me to get my associate's degree and then we marry, then have kids.

When the Robots Took My Job
This is for RM Stockton's Write Club prompt for the month of April: AI Please allow me to vent. For "college," I went to a scam school that is now closed. We were promised internships that were never spoken of again after admissions, and we were promised help finding jobs. The first time I went to the career counselor's office, she was completely frazzled. She had no idea what to do with us, the film majors. The second time I visited her office, I let her know that I'd found myself a job, and she was visibly relieved.
