The Reset

In the year 3020, there was a virus called "Grein" that caused deaths. Grein is an airborne virus that later on mixed with the Earth's pollution. Once infected, it affects the lungs through inhalation; then, the vital human organs will deteriorate. In the year 3025, it left five people alive on planet Earth.

At a small secret city in Wisconsin, USA, four scientists stayed in a Science lab to keep them away from the virus that is still in the air. Alfred lived in a cave near the Science lab ever since the pandemic began.

Since there was no cure for Grein Virus, the four scientists decided to do what they think needs to be done, activating the reset human capsule.

One day, Alfred decided to go out to hunt for food. He had to wear a complete hazmat suit for him to reach the laboratory.

Alfred walked in the main door of the lab. "We have food for you, Mister! Follow the red light, and we will give you what you need". Alfred was afraid, thinking he was the only man alive, but he is starving at the same time. He badly needs nutrition; he hasn't eaten yet for three days and starting to get weak. "I only have stock of water to keep me going, but that's not enough. I need something to chew right now!".

Alfred decided to follow the red light, and it led him in through the central lab spot. As promised, the Scientists gave him food more than what he needed for a month's supply. Alfred ate as much as he can before going back to his cave, but suddenly, Alfred became drowsy and fell asleep. The four scientists correctly followed the protocol of preserving a human body in a vast time capsule. Alfred then laid and locked in the time capsule. The four Scientists died when a hard blew of wind mixed with a virus entered the lab.

December 31, 3029 11:59:50 PM, at this point, the planet Earth healed naturally. Pollution was gone, lands and water bodies were fresh, and animals survived. The human time capsule will re-open. "Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one." Flashing red lights and the loud alarm turned on, "Happy New Year!" Then there were fireworks in the sky. The human time capsule opened, Alfred opened his eyes, and he breathes a fresh cool air breeze. Alfred's old memories were gone along with the process of preserving his body; according to the protocol, only skills, talents, and scientific knowledge will be left in the human brain. Alfred saw a heart-shaped locket on top of his chest. He felt this cold metal like he hasn't touched a thing for five years. His name, "Alfred," was engraved on the locket. He opened the locket, and he pressed the button inside of it.

A small book appeared in front of his face, it has the manual steps on how to re-open a human time capsule. Alfred started to think about why it was the only thing left for him. He stood up, and he started looking around the Science lab. Alfred noticed another human time capsule thirty feet across from him. He checked his book and realized that the drawings were the same as the actual human capsule. Alfred pressed the buttons accordingly from what the instructions said. The human time capsule popped open. "You have successfully opened a human time capsule manually. Congratulations!" As the automated voice sounded.

Alfred was amazed, and his eyes went wide open while he saw another human lying on the capsule, a woman. The woman opened her eyes and first saw the face of Alfred. "Who are you?" she said. "This heart locket said that my name is Alfred, and you are?". The woman felt a cold metal as she tried to move her hand. She looked at it, and it was a heart-shaped locket. "Serena" was engraved on it. She opened the locket and a book appeared in front of her face with the title, "Reset The Planet Earth".

Serena and Alfred followed the instructions. They went to the 30th floor of the Science lab building. The whole floor was empty except for a standing pillar with a red button on it. Alfred and Serena pressed the button, and it made a loud beep sound. Suddenly, there were four human capsules appeared from the walls of the room. Serena and Alfred were stunned by what they saw. These humans volunteered to be preserved and be brought in the year 3030 to continue the reconstruction of Earth healthily. They know how to create a livable planet, and they will only follow Alfred and Serena's commands.

Alfred and Serena looked at each other and checked the heart locket. It was blinking with a green light, and they both press the button; a hologram of the four Scientists appeared, and one said, "You will continue the human race, your old memories were gone, but love remains."

Since they were both chosen to participate in The Reset, they were also appointed to become the new planet Earth's leaders.
