Once upon a time, the world was bare of beauty and color. Everything as far as the eyes could see was either black or white. People's eyes were so accustomed to the dark that it was completely commonplace to live a life of neutrality.

One day, as if by magic a garden suddenly appeared. In this garden was a large red bench and above the bench a single yellow chrysanthemum flower.

People came from far and wide to view this phenomenon. Word spread fast and everyone came to see the colors and flower. Pretty soon beautifully dressed strange looking people also appeared upon the bench.

The monsters tried their best to camouflage their appearance, but an eye was missing here, a leg seemed odd, one eye was open, or another was closed.

Lovely women and handsome men of all ages and children filled with curiosity and inquisitiveness came to visit.

"How can we get more of these things which are neither black nor white"? They enquired curiously of the visitors.

"They are called colors, and this lovely thing is called a flower. In order to get many more of these, each of you will have to marry one of our kind".

Becoming quite alarmed at the thought of marrying a monster, the people all went away. Except for Minerva, the curious young lass who did everything she was told not to do. Minerva got a hold of young Mikel who was ordained by the power of the Internet to perform marriages. She chose the youngest and most comely of the monsters on the bench and married him. He had promised her a large bouquet of roses, and a home planted with every pretty flower that he could imagine.

No sooner had she said I do, than her old house was transformed into a lovely cottage with the most magnificent flowers and as many colors as could be imagined. The sun stopped exactly overhead and the clouds opened up a shower of rain upon her garden. As she turned back to her husband, he too had become the most handsome man she had ever seen.

And so people came in droves and waves, young, old, in between and every ilk and lot. The bench could not fill up fast enough. No one knew from whence the monsters came, but the bench was always full and everyone got their pick of wife and husband and any such.

Every child had flowers pinned in their hair or wore a lovely lei around their necks. They cherished the colors and cared for them, the young ones were even more happy than the adults for a much brighter world.

Flowers appeared everywhere around the world, colors burst upon the land in mesmerizing dazzlement and spectacular beauty and splendor. The more love was shared the more beautiful the flowers appeared. Everyone vied against each other to give names to the enchanting blooms.

First, they named the colors, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. They discovered that if they mixed them up they could get many, many other marvelous shades. Then they named the flowers:

Abutilon, rose, chrysanthemum, tulips, pansy, iris, orchids

Aconite, lily of the valley, aster, juniper, cherry blossoms

African Daisy, apple blossoms, snowdrop, periwinkle

Allium , Baby's Breath, jasmine, bluebell, buttercup

The world had blossomed into beautiful shades of awesome colors and glorious flowery blooms.

Novel, I love what an abstract concept this story is. The creation of colour. Itโ€™s thought provoking and mind bending. I love the theme of โ€œdonโ€™t judge a book by its coverโ€ that you embedded within this story! Such a beautiful tale and lesson. Have you ever thought of doing a book of short stories/ poems and publishing it? Congratulations on another Top Story, you are smashing it lately!

I like how, in order to gain colour in their world, they needed to accept the outsiders into their lives and their culture. This rings of a fable as most of the best myths do! Well done!

I'll admit, the monsters had me properly creeped out (I like how you utilized the AI to your advantage here, all those missing body parts). You redeemed it though, and so well. Minerva is the GOAT, lol. Beautiful work; I thoroughly enjoyed it! Well-deserved TS!!
