The Modern Time Traveler

There was this gentlemen, that worked at the solan in Tombstone, AZ. His name is John Smuckles, and this gentlemen wasn’t from the 1800s. What is funny about this that John had these different words, habits and actions that was not a part of that time. You see, John had grown up in a little town in Indiana. During the 2000s, during the great depression and the only thing he could do as a child to avoid what was going on around him. He would watch this movie at least once a week, without his parents knowing. John had become fascinated with this historic event, so much to the point that he had went to school, to learn the history during the time of cowboys. His next stop had led him to electrical engineering, after which John had when to mechanical engineering as well. While he was doing all these other majors, he had minored in physics, and also metaphysics. By 2025, John had completed all these schools and then set off for his goal, to see Tombstone in person, to watch it happen.

By the age of thirty-five, John had start making his invention. John has become a very spiritual person, and he had seen blueprints of a time traveling machine. Which, naturally, he started drawing up what he had saw. After a while he was drawing up his ideas, Johns blueprints had taken so long to draw up, that he started having doubt about his vision that he had seen over a year ago. The thing was, there was a little voice that told him to keep going. To not stop drawing what he sees. So, John never did, and aver eighteen months, John had completed his blueprints of a time machine. There was two main problems that he had faced at this point now after all this time. He needed to find investors to fund this project, for which it was going to cost him more than he can afford. The second thing that he was running into was convincing the other scientists that these blueprints will truly work. This itself, was the hardest thing. Was just finding others that had believed in his imagination.

But, one day as John was leaving the diner on a Sunday afternoon, he was deep in his head on what his next step should be. That is when Johns whole life had changed. As he left the diner, he had bumped into this average looking guy. John looked into his eyes and said, “Excuse me”. This new gentleman looked at him and asked John if he would like to have coffee while he eats. John hesitated when he got asked this, but he didn’t feel like he should say no. John agreed to the invitation that was given. As John sat down, and so did the gentlemen. John asked with curiosity, “So, lets start by getting to know who we are?” The gentlemen had chuckled and said “Yes, yes of course. My name is Bill.” Well after four hours at the diner. John had found out that Bill was a mechanical engineer. But his mom and dad were more than wealthy. Bill has been living the continuous life even after their passing, just so he can keep doing his job. But he also told John that he just had the urge to not spend a dime for some reason. At the diner, Bill had told John that he was the reason why none of the money was spent. Bill had more than enough to invest in John’s project, and not only that. But Bill can help to build the project which it would cut the time in half, plus have another set of eyes on the project.

Johns estimated time to build this project was another three years. That is, it the parts were in, and he had them as soon as they were needed, with no wait time. Now with Bill, he has the time cut in time, the funds upfront so they can order in advance so the both may continue to work. Now that time is cut in half just with another person. The both of them started that very next day, not wasting any moment that they had. Continued planning, ordered parts, and getting the space ready to build their future. After two weeks, these to partners, had finally received their first order of parts and what was necessary. They started on this project 2028, around August time. They started out so excited and fueled up that the both of them had worked fourteen hour days. They had kept this up for the first ten months, seven days a week. After that tenth month, they both had to take a week break to relax and recoup. John, starting to see the end of the tunnel, but Bill, just having doubts that this invention that he just spent his entire inheritance to this idea that may not work.

During their week off Bill, had to really sit with what they have been doing will actually work. He just never thought that this was truly possible in any way. But as he was sitting there in contemplation, on hi T.V he had received a quote from Albert Einstein, “Everything is possible.” Bill had laughed at himself again. That night, Bill had a dream of actually being at Tombstone when to shooting at the Ok Corral had went down. But this was not just a dream, it was something that was more vivid than he had have seen before. He had noticed he could smell the air, taste the air, feel the heat from the sun, feel the thirst. He saw the uneasiness from both sides right before it went down. Bill himself had no ides what he was watching the event, live. As if he already traveled. After their seven day rest, when Bill got back to the machine, they rented a space to stay and build it, Bill was more than excited to continue this project at this point in time. He wants to see the ending product and more than definitely test it out.

Bill had noticed that John had never showed back up, he never answered his phone nothing. This started to worry Bill, only because John was the brains of the operation and he was not sure if the time machine would get finished. It was about six pm when Bill started to go look for John, he has yet to hear from him all day. When Bill showed to John’s apartment, the door had been kicked in as if someone had breached his door. Bill walked in nervous, and on guard on if someone was still there. The door was pushed open, and he saw John, laying in a pool of blood and his studio apartment torn all to pieces. Bill immediately called the police, when the authorities had show up, they came to the conclusion that there was a robbery and was looking for something very specific. So they have asked Bill if they may have any idea of who it might be. Bill had replied, “He never knew anyone that would want to do this to John, he was a great man.” The police had replied,” Well why would someone want to kill him?” Bill was hesitant t0 answer this question. Only because he knew at this point his life was in danger and did not know who to trust. Bill had replied, “That the both of them we are working on a major project that would change the future of humankind.” The detective, just looked at Bill, did not respond to what he had said. Bill has been wondering this entire time if the detective had anything to do with the death of his good buddy. Bill was never able to finish the project, so with that, this idea, had went to waste. Bill, at the end of the day walked away with no money or job and nothing to show for it. Besides an unsolved murder of his good buddy, now the only time he can travel, is back to that single dream of Tombstone.
