“Mom? Mom?!” A small child screamed as they found the character from their favorite book standing before them; with the same dazed look they had in that moment. Else where in the world other children were discovering new skills and abilities they never would have imagined having. As the world cheered for superpowers; one child who was watching the stories unfold on the news; thinking something else entirely; This is will a grinding halt to human advancements....

Fifteen years later and the children with powers have divided into two separate groups. And a little too stereotypical if you ask me; the heroes, who use their skills and resources to try and help the people of earth, and the villains, the ones who try to use their powers and advantages to selfishly gain everything they crave.

5 years later

In a Towering building in New York

Looking around his office, Dagron picks up the phone, and dialing the three digit code spoke quickly into the line “Shade, it's time to start the process of ending all stops and hindrances. Start phase one I will meet you at the designated area.” Calmly setting the phone off the hanger and letting out a slow sigh, moving to look out the window. The 20th floor of an office building does give an amazing view of humanity... or rather the stuck fools who believe that New York encompasses the look of humanity. Rushing around, no real objective, no sense of where to go but constantly running; Like a hamster trapped on the wheel, and it has gone on long enough.

West Coast of California

The ocean isn't right, Reservoir could feel it. The salt ratio was off by a lot, the temperature was too high, the tide was moving outward, but there was no other sign of a tsunami. So what is going on? Talking both calm and panicked into his headpiece. “HQ, any idea what's going on, this change in the ocean's behavior is going to mess with the coast and surrounding land in grave ways.”

“Reservoir, we're working on it! But we have no idea, and they are running out of time...”

“Curse you all I know that better than anyone!” Silent for a moment, he looks to the sky and closes his eyes as a sense of calm and tranquility washes over him, his shaking and clasped hands just hang at his sides.

“I figured it out guys... Where does the wave go?” The line is quiet for a moment as everyone realizes what the strategy to fix the world oceans would cost. “Reservoir... Are you sure?”

“Yes I am. Just remember I will be watching from the seas... Hey, the rain is beautiful here...” As he gives his own goodbye, his calm unwavering and steady, he smiles sitting next to the sea. “You're hurting huh?” talking to the ocean like he would an old friend; “I can help the pain, the waves that flow within me will return to you.” as he let's out one last breath he can see and feel the waves of his power crash into itself, growing in force and climbing in magnitude, like waves in a storm that feed into itself to grow in size. As his body begins to break down the tide begins to come in, and as things return to normal, he seems to vanish as an ice sculpture in the heat; melting down and flowing into the ocean.

Hero HQ in Toronto, Canada

Setting down her radio ear piece, turning slowly to face the people who were standing over a grind map of the world seeming to relax as the ocean return to normal. “everyone Reservoir, The man of the seven seas, and controller of the currents... He has returned to the sea...”

A large build woman stands up straight almost blank faced, every muscle seeming to be limp and rigid at the same time. “He's gone? But.. Who caused this?” Turning back to the map,she begins to calmly but frantically scanning for something to tell her where the problem began. The rest of the heroes looked at all the screen with one thought in mind, What is going to happen next?

On an unmarked island in the middle of the ocean

A tall lanky man; clad in loose almost tattered robes, with veins that appear to be pumping shadows themselves through his body and with skin that is almost translucent only added to the ghostly feeling; standing on the beach smiling and almost laughing, know what happened as he watch the ocean and tides return. “Shade, the plan went off well?” A moderate sized man in a business suit walking onto the beach hands in his pocket; clean shaved, except for a small amount amount stubble from the long boat ride to the island, demeanor screaming calm and calculating; stood waiting for his answer.

Shade smiled with a toothy grin, some would describe as the Cheshire grin. “better than we could have hoped, Dagron! I never imagined a power that affects the balance of things could be applied to such a scale! Yeah I was anemic for a while after that but worth it! RESERVOIR IS GONE!”

“At least it didn't cost your life.” The suited man spoke calm as if this was nothing more than a small errand for him. “We have a lot more to do. But we still need the heroes to be busy so they cannot figure out what is going on.”

“So back to anarchy statements for me then?” Shade seeming almost to get angry from it. “But after this how can I do that?”

“Not you Shade,” He pointed “You must go into hiding for a while, they cannot connect your power to the tide! So you will be staying in the Easter Islands for now, don't worry you will have an all expenses paid vacation there.”

Holding out his hand like a threat, “Can you stop me at this point? Balance is impossible to fight.”

Dagron just sighs deeply taking a small device, “Remember Shade, no man, woman, or child is a god.” Pressing a couple buttons the small island begins to shift, “We all bleed, we all breathe, we are mortal; no matter the strength or skill.” Once the ground calms down he walks toward Shade, who was too disorientated to stop himself from being grabbed and thrown down onto his back. “We cannot stop the passage of time Shade,” voice still calm just the smallest of margins above an “inside voice.” “everyone one can be beaten, everyone can lose.” Crouching down to look into Shade's eyes with a determined look that would freeze the fiercest of lions in their place. “Its how humans will advance that will change how we as a species will survive,” Grabbing onto Shade's long ragged hair to pull it tight. “And I have thought that since the powers emerged all those years ago.”

A Small Cafe in New York City

In the corner of a small chain cafe, a petite man who had features softer than a bunny, was having lunch and coffee. “He's late...” As the man begrudgingly stirred his coffee across from an empty seat, a suited person comes running in looking around hurriedly and smiles seeing the petite man. “Pheo, sorry I'm so late..” The petite man, Pheo, raises his hand up “Dagron.. I.. hear it a lot, and you have been so secretive and sneaky lately... Have you been cheating on me?” Dagron, seeming shocked paused, though after thinking for a moment understood where his lover was coming from. “Pheo I promise I am not cheating, I am working on a large project for the company and it just more time consuming than I had imagined. I even have the office documents showing that I been with the company the whole time.” As he is talking is reaching into his jacket pocket. The petite man shaking his head, “I need evidence, proof, that I am wrong and that I am just worried about you being gone all the time. That last trip was a three day trip after all.” Dagron getting a strange envelope out of his jacket's inside pocket, “I do have evidence Pheo,” Handing the envelope to him, “That is the recent project I been looking into is artificial mobile islands. It suppose to help with over population of countries, by giving them areas where some people can live that can be positioned anywhere.”

At small house in Alaska

A logging woman is cutting trees into splints sweat and tears flying from her body with the force of the swings,as she screams. “HOW COULD YOU LEAVE ME?!” Shoulders heaving, air coming to her in rags, leaning on her axe and cries quietly. “how could you leave without a goodbye Reservoir?” A person walks up as the larger woman is crying on her axe. “Remind me to never be under your axe Helena.” Helena looks at the more petite person out the corner of her eye grief and anger xlearly swirling in her eyes uncertain what to do next. “What do you recommend I do Wavelength?” Wavelength looks to the ground and takes a deep breath. “Look Helena, what happened to Reservoir is... crushing...” “Crushing? Crushing? I am shattering!! I dont konw what to do! All I know is when I swing my axe,” Helena swings at a still standing tree with the chop sounding like scissors through paper, “Things will fall” speaking as the tree came crashing down. “So what are you here for?” Wavelength looks at Helena with a determined look that cause her to shake where she stood, seeming to feel the cold for the first moment. “We are going to keep what happened to him from happening to anyone else!” They spoke clear and solid, like the ground beneath their feet. Unmoving, unwavering, and fully aware of needs to be done.

Hero HQ in Toronto

The heros are gathered discussing what Wavelength's plan might be; them going deathly quiet as Wavelength walks in front of everyone and clear their voice. “I thank all of you for coming. You are all aware of what happened to Reservoir at this point.” The chatter picking up for a second then calms down quickly as Wavelength stays quiet for a moment, and when it is quiet again resumes. “To protect everyone we need to assess our strengths and strengths. Specifically the point that ours powers will cause our death.” At that point everyone roared into voicing their differing opinions loud enough that everyone and no one could be heard at the same time. As wavelength touched their neck for a moment the speaks calm and level, but somehow on every frequency and volume at once. “Everyone! By learning this two things we can keep everyone alive!” All the heroes grabbing onto their ears and tense up from the intensity of the sounds from Wavelength and quiet down. Wavelength tuning their voice downward to normal levels. “Because if we know our limits we can think of tools to ease the burden of our abilities on our bodies. So we wouldn't have to sacrifice ourselves in an extreme situation.”

New York top floor of a building marked Leading Technologies

Dagron was eating a sushi lunch slowly looking over the blue prints to a new device. “It missing something...” A young secretary, with feature that could only be described as barbie doll. “perhaps what your missing is a young woman sir?” Dagron slamming down his documents glares at the woman. “I have told you before I have no interest in being with a woman, Karen. I am gay!” Karen taking a step back and puts her hands up defensively. “ I just meant maybe a woman's mind on your large projects would give you a different view points.” Straightening her back up and adjusting her outfit, she continues “Woman sometimes look more into the softer sides of things a bit more in detail than a man.” Dagron sighing replies in a calmer tone, “This isn't a matter of a different angle of view, it about the math and numbers behind this project... For it to work there can be no mistake.” Karen grins, a eerie long curled grin. “That why you hired the entire villain roster isn't it?” Dagron glares out the corner of his eye. “How did you learn of that?”
