The Full Moon of Cachou

A Green Light Contest Entry

Of the three moons that circled Skyeria, the green moon of Cachou was considered "the Moon of All". Cachou, back when he was a god, was a green-furred giant with a tail as long as the night sky. He was the Creator who formed the world of Skyeria, after all, enwrapping the world in a loving, natural embrace, bending the elements unleashed by Scalieon into a viable shape, and creating the various ecosystems that were on the surface. He then, with a final green light and some help from Lampras, created the various sentient species to populate the world.

Of the three gods, Cachou had the biggest heart and was the one who was looking forward the most to spend time with the various species of the world. He was easily more social than Scalieon, who was worried that he might end up causing the races to be afraid with his intimidating visage. He was more excited than Lampras, who advised her fellows to use caution when guiding the young races. Cachou just wanted to meet the people of Skyeria, and enjoy life not as a god, but as a resident.

However, before Cachou had the chance to "try to hug the world", three other gods known as the Destroyers came to Skyeria: Haggeria, Vulpos, and Quiennelis. They were bullies to the three Creators who had hounded them from the far reaches of the heavens to this part of the material plane. They felt "slighted" at the creation of the world and life, and decided to make the three creators watch as their world was destroyed.

Cachou joined his fellow Creators in defending the world from the Destroyers' wrath. At first, he didn't want to fight, and simply shielded anyone from the Destroyers' power. Eventually, Cachou was pinned down by the Destroyers' minions they had brought to bear upon the world Cachou had helped create. He was asked by the Destroyers why he was so willing to lay down his immortal life to defend what they believed to be insignificant specks on the face of the universe. Cachou simply answered that he saw them as innocent. He did not blame the minions of the Destroyers for participating in the war, knowing that the Destroyers forced them to come to the world and attack. But Cachou's personal foe, Quiennelis herself, did not see anyone as innocent. She viewed all mortals as blights on the universe, and only those loyal to her and her interests worthy of existence. So, she unleashed a swarm of monsters that terrorized the lives of millions, planning to make Cachou watch them crawl over each other just to survive a few fruitless years before the monsters destroyed them all.

This drew Cachou into a rare emotion, not one seen by his friends and fellow creators: anger. Anger at himself for letting this get so out of hand. Anger at the monsters terrorizing the world that barely got a chance to live. Anger at the other two Destroyers for wanting to make mortals feel fear and misery just because it was fun to them. But the biggest source of his anger... was Quiennelis, who just proved that she will not rest until all life on Skyeria was destroyed because she didn't like mortals.

He broke free of the Destroyers' minions holding him down, stormed through hordes of monsters trying to destroy the young races of Skyeria, trampling over the lot of them, and personally attacked Quiennelis with a surprise punch, turning the tide of the battle for Skyeria's survival. He wrapped the vicious bug-like goddess in a pair of green beams of light, and dragged her off of his planet, before using the light to fling her into one of the three moons. Before Quiennelis could recover and command her horde of monsters to overwhelm a surprised Scalieon or Lampras, Cachou jumped after her, and literally buried the evil goddess inside of the moon before jumping after her, using one final beam of green light to not only create the gigas to help support his fellow Creators but to seal himself and Quiennelis in the moon.

This sacrifice inspired Cachou's fellow Creators to do the same, and seal their foes in moons as well, sealing themselves inside of the moons so the Destroyers could not escape. Now, all threw of the founders of Skyeria were forced to watch over the world from the moons.

Still, during the seventh month of the year, Cachou's moon is full and the closest to the world of Skyeria. It feels as if he is giving the world a great big smile while he holds Quiennelis at bay, basking us in his emerald moonlight.
