His card read “Arthur Bletchley, Curator,” with the British Museum’s seal emblazoned in the corner.

“Respectfully sir, after all this time, I don’t need your card anymore.” Jacob Malden said as he casually flicked the card into the fireplace.

“Ahh Jacob, in this mad world, decorum is everything,” Arthur said, tipping his pint cordially.

“We’ve drank together every Friday for ten years. The day only changes when you need something,” Malden sipped his ale, foam coalescing on his brown mustache. “Out with it.”

“I’ve had a job come down direct from Downing Street. Strictly off-the-books kind. Interested?”

Jacob’s lips curled.
