The Carolina's

A bit of ice and snow will close roads!

When we were in the Carolinas, can you see all of the snow and ice? Well, no, you can't as there wasn't much. However, the roads were closed all over the place. Too slick, too much snow to go anywhere.

We left the snow of the Carolinas and returned to the beautiful soft white snow that we see every year in January in Minnesota. It is a comforting feeling coming home to snow. The snow angels, snowmen and snowwomen. The great, huge ice sculptures.

Then as we are about halfway home and have had easy driving we start to slide, from one side of the road to the other and back. Sara appears relaxed as she navigates the slip. Grandma is praying.

Once we stop sliding, Dan says, "Let's pull over up here and put the all-wheel drive on."

As we talked along the side of the road we recalled the differences between our visit to the Carolinas. Their ice and snow are impassable. Our snow and ice are something we are used to. A bit of a competitive tinge to our conversation! Kind of like saying we win!

As we sat there, along came a car with different state plates, and did some bumper car thing with our truck. Grandma then says, "It may not be a good thing to brag about our win, at least until we are safe and sound at home!"

There wasn't significant damage to our vehicle but it did mean rescuing the bumper car.
