The beans from hometown

A few days ago, I returned to my hometown after a long absence, and what caught my eye were rows and rows of bean sprouts that rose and fell with the hills and were so green that I couldn't see the edge of them.

As far as I can remember, the bean curd in my hometown never takes up a whole piece of cultivated land, but usually grows under a fence wall or along the edge of the self-reserved land. They are not like the wheat and oil lei crops, when the farmers get the "favor".

When I was a child, my family lived in an adobe house with or without a wall, and there was a rectangular garden with not many flowers and trees, including a peony, a rose and a spring sea tang.

Every year at Qingming, my mother would plant some beans at the edge of the garden. I know that my mother did not plant vegetables such as peppers, eggplants and tomatoes because it was difficult to raise these noble vegetables due to the drought and lack of water in my hometown. The beans are drought-resistant, infertile and hardy. After its seeds are buried in the soil, with little management, the bright green bean curd vines grow freely on the thorns and gradually grow into a thick green barrier.

In early summer, the garden flowers are laid to rest when the carob gradually bloomed, purple flowers, although not peony flowers, no roses, bright and eye-catching, no sea of flowers, the string of small flowers, in the green leaves, but also blooming enthusiastically, like a small butterfly to fly, my humble yard decorated vividly.

In late summer and early autumn, the season when bean curd flowers bloom most profusely. After a light rain, the beanstalk leaves were cleaned spotlessly, with dewy beanstalk flowers, emitting a faint fragrance. I often played with my buddies under the beanstalk, catching dragonflies, butterflies, and listening to the bees singing among the flowers. Sometimes we would pick the carob flowers and pin them in our hair. Naturally, when my mother saw us playing with the beanstalk flowers, we would inevitably get a scolding.

In those poor days, my mother grew bean curd to fill our hungry bellies. A small carob flower could produce a long, full seeded carob. Whenever cooking, my mother would pick a large handful of bean curd, cut into thin julienne stir-fry, dinner table will have a dish of green and attractive dishes. Put a chopstick in your mouth, fragrant, crunchy, that is, to relieve the craving and comfort the hungry intestines.

Nowadays, with the development of society and the improvement of agricultural production, people back home also have their own cash crops. The local government, in order to speed up the pace of farmers to get rich and increase income, vigorously adjust the agricultural structure, to tap the potential of special industries, the planting of beans as a dry morning mountain economic development pillar industry, and guidance to support the expansion of the planting area, beans, such as a small family in the boudoir, out of the fence wall, and gradually expand to the field.

Beans are the most common vegetables in the dishes, but it brings benefits to the people of the hometown, creating a financial road, changing the face of poverty in the hometown. The original adobe houses were replaced by beautiful bungalows with a brick roof, and the potholed paths became wide concrete roads. The home town has changed drastically, which makes me, a wanderer, feel warm in my heart, hope one day i will return again.
