Camus The Great is standing in the heart of the Forest of Kasarus with his three fellow swordsmen: Marius, Ardeth and Antioch. The four swordsmen are awaiting the army of Syranus Camédes. Marius, Ardeth and Antioch are nervous as the army is only minutes away from approach. Camus, on the other hand is very calm and collective. It as if he is not awaiting certain death, but paradise and bliss.

Sir, Antioch began. It is not that I do not trust your wisdom, but how could you be happy at a time like this? Because we are going to emerge victorious, brother, Camus replied. How can you be so certain, Captain? Ardeth asked. We are vastly outnumber and death will certainly be the outcome for us. Camus let out a brief chuckle. Marius, Camus started. Will you inform our brothers about the land on which we are standing? We…we are in the enchanted Forest of Kasarus, Marius stumbled. Though this is the knowledge you have given me, I know not what it means good sir.

It means we are in the land of the greatest army ever, the wilderness, Camus continued. There is no force that we cannot withstand as we do battle in this forest. Though his cohorts did not share in his enthusiasm, they all stood at the ready with Camus ready to do battle. The army of Syranus Chemedes was now quickly approaching the forest. Dozens of warriors on horses were now descending on the quartet.

Standing side by side, Camus and his three fellow swordsmen put their swords at the ready as the army of Syranus approached. As the army crossed into the forest grounds many of them were instantly knocked off their horses by some of the trees of the forest that seemed to magically move on their own. Antioch, Ardeth and Marius turned to looks of confusion while Camus stood with a big smile on his face. When the rest of the army drew closer many of them were snatched off of their horses and pinned to the ground by the grass of the grounds that seemed to be moving on its own. Captain Syranus and the remainder of his army were confused in the midst of their siege. Syranus and the remainder of his army jumped off their horses as they were within ten feet of Camus and his men. They pulled out their swords and the battle began.

Camus and Syranus took swings at each other, both blocking their attempts to penetrate one another with their swordsmanship. Several of Syranus’ men charged towards Ardeth, but were quickly knocked into the surrounding trees by a giant haze of dirt that magically levitated from the ground. Two of Syranus’ warriors then approached Marius. One of them swung at him with a sword. A prepared Marius blocks the warrior’s attack with his own sword then proceeded to kick him in the stomach. As the warrior leaned over in pain holding his gut, Marius kicked the warrior in the face, sending him to the ground unconscious.

As Marius began dueling another warrior he was unaware of a warrior standing behind him who was preparing to stab him in the back. The warrior was interrupted by an aware Antioch who instead stabbed him with his sword on the side, which sent the warrior to the ground in pain. Ardeth was now dueling one of the warriors who was knocked down by the dirt but had risen to his feet. As two more warriors came to assist him in defeating Ardeth, one of them was kicked to the ground by Ardeth and the other was cut across his hip by Ardeth, which brought him to his knees in pain.

As Ardeth blocked an upper sword swing from the warrior in front of him the man then pulled out a small knife which he cut Ardeth across the stomach with. As Ardeth fell to the ground in pain the warrior prepared to land a killing blow, but was abruptly stabbed in the back by Antioch from behind. As the warrior lay lifeless Antioch helped Ardeth to his feet and they both joined Marius in battling the other warriors.

While the other three battle the remain of the army, Camus and Syranus continued their duel. Syranus cut Camus across the arm with his sword while Camus sliced Syranus across his arm with his sword. The two men briefly backed away from each other as Syranus predicted victory. You and your men will fall here, Camus, Syranus sneered. I think not, Camus replied with a smile. Camus then put two of his fingers in his mouth and let out a loud whistle. At the sound of this whistle a large group of Squirrels, rabbits, deer, panthers and bears started emanating from every corner of the forest and started attacking Syranus and his men. Much to the surprise of Antioch, Ardeth and Marius the creatures were all speaking legible words as they attacked the army of Syranus.

You invaded the wrong forest barbarian, said one of the bears. As Syranus and his men became overwhelmed by the creatures of the wilderness he called for a retreat. SYRANIANS RETREAT!!! Syranus shouted as he and the remainder of his men fled the forest. Camus, his men and the creatures of the forest cheered in victory. This forest, it’s enchanted isn’t it? Ardeth asked. Yes it is, Camus began. Syranus and his men never saw it coming. This enchanted forest has been around for thousands of years. It’s wilderness has been ally to my bloodline for centuries and I knew they would lend us aid in our battle.

No wonder you were so confident, Marius replied with a chuckle. I’m just glad that you were, Antioch added with relief. Thank you for believing in us Captain, Ardeth said gratefully. It is an honor to have achieved victory with my brothers , Camus concluded.

Describing war scenes is an art, I avoid anything war related...but you managed to make it happen with the animals of the forest. Smart take on the story.

Well done, I couldn't help thinking of the holy hand grenade though.
