The Backrooms Decrypted: The Lights Out (Level 6)

Lights Out is also known as The Backrooms Level 6. It has a PENDING rating for survival difficulty, UNDETERMINED ratings for safety and security, and UNDETERMINED ratings for the presence of entities. The actual layout of Level 6 is largely unknown because it is completely and utterly dark there. The level is completely dark, and any artificial light sources are completely useless. You must use your senses to navigate Level 6 because it is completely dark. In addition to always being dark, Level 6 is also deathly quiet, like a soundproof room. Exploring Level 6 entails making a slow trek through total isolation, utter silence, and total darkness.

The Backrooms: The Lights Out (Level 6)
  • Greetings, Explorer. You just keep getting by, right? How impressive. Though perhaps some time spent on Level 6 will help you sort out the confusion, we still aren't sure if that's a blessing or a curse. Perhaps it will serve as your light in the dark. I apologize for the poor taste of this joke, but you will understand it. You navigate your way into a hallway that appears to be an exit to another location.
  • You're drenched in perspiration as the metal skeleton of the boiler room looms behind you, belching steam and radiating heat. The fact that you were able to fill up your Almond Water supplies from the pipes is something you are grateful for because, if you weren't able to do so, you would probably be dying of dehydration and perspiration by this point. A handwritten note is pinned to the entrance as you enter the hallway. You unpin the note and read it because, of course, you've learned to pay attention to small clues like this.
  • The following is stated: A few days ago, I noticed someone hurrying out of the Level 6 entrance. Well, "rush" is a strong word. He lumbered. One of his legs was obviously broken horribly and trailing blood; he was clutching his chest, and his left eye was missing. He didn't seem like he should be alive, and based on what he was saying, he didn't appear to be. He claimed that he was attacked. That much was obvious, but I was especially alarmed by the nature of the attack on him. Whatever it was, it clawed at him while screaming for him to flee and then pinned him to the ground. He claimed that it resembled human fingers.
  • It appeared to be a human voice, according to him. I don't know where he is right now. A few M.E.G. He was taken away by agents to receive medical attention for his injuries. He might have survived. He may not have. But I'm still struck by the image of that guy emerging from that level in that condition. Imagine this, because there shouldn't be any entities. You're in a dimly lit space. You are blind; there is no sound, and you have no idea what the object is made of.
  • For example, suppose you spent five hours inside. And occasionally, you pick up a faint noise that a sound like something nearby is moving. After a while, wouldn't you start to wonder what might be going on that you are unaware of? By hour five, what would you do if something ran into you? Even if it were a person, you wouldn't know that, would you? You wouldn't stop to think about what it might be. At hour 3, reason started to crumble. Just make it through each day. And perhaps you would simply walk away from it all without realizing what terrible things you had done in the shadows. Due to the presence of something, Level 6 is not dangerous.
  • There is nothing there, so it is dangerous. Admittedly, you don't read the note as carefully as you probably should. Although it may be difficult to admit, you have always been one of those individuals who essentially sees what they want to see in any given circumstance. When you read the note, your myopic conclusion is waiting; there are no entities on this level. That's awesome after everything you've faced so far, you're beyond eager to jump to a new level with no actual threats.
  • After all, your galaxy brain idea to escape your miserable life was to invest all of your energy into getting into this hellscape, and can you really say it improved anything? Therefore, when you read the note, your myopic conclusion is, "Wait; there are no entities on this level." That's awesome. The relief you experience after taking those stairs is difficult to even put into words. Suddenly, there are noises that eerily resemble the ocean's crashing tides.
  • But hey, you'll definitely prefer that to the deafening silence of Level 6. You now know that there are things much worse than suffocating, dark monsters in the backrooms' hallways. You inhale deeply and step into the light. Keep an eye out for the upcoming exciting backrooms exploration as we delve even deeper into this liminal abyss.
